  1. Given everything else you state how do you work the highlighted section? And, what was the requirement- merely staying up by the skin of our teeth or progress?
  2. Yep the wrong one and it continues with the current coaching staff
  3. I definitely didn't say Fielding and Williams were legends! I said Jet and Flint with Pack being almost legends. If you quote me please do so as stated, Dave and not a spin! Fielding was in the team briefly but dropped after he looked comical on his debut whilst Flint was also dropped and universally branded as useless until he wasn't. My point was not about what they were like when in S'ODs team but that his cheap signings were his legacy and one which NP would not have should he leave. As for bringing through our long term existing youth- that CANNOT be down to Nige- it's a club effort from whoever scouted them as kids and then coached them, loaned them, nurtured them to a position where they could be considered by Nige as ready. Unless, of course, you believe that they wouldn't have achieved success without NP which I'd disagree with. I think that injuries have also forced some of these players into a position where there is no choice but to play them.
  4. I'd agree with the comparison between S'OD and Pearson. Sean had a pretty limited budget, had to mend and make do after inheriting a bloated largely useless squad but without the benefit of exciting academy products and was sacked when results weren't good enough but he's never really been recognised for his off pitch work- on it it was as turgid as NP - more so even. He lasted 11 months. However, his legacy was clearing up a previous mess just as NP has been doing ....however he also left us with some of his signings- Jet, Fielding, Flint, Williams, Pack and Waggy- all either pretty good or almost Legend status ( Jet & Flint deffo and Pack close for me). We sold Flint and Pack for £10 million and they cost £300,000 If NP left now, the comparison ends in that I don't think , imo, he's brought anyone in that will have the same long term impact on and off the field.
  5. What is the 'believed wage' you mention? Figures please. As far as 'Wells isn't scoring regularly'- that is somewhat disingenuous on the basis he isn't playing regularly, in fact yesterday was his longest contribution in a league game this year and he scored.
  6. Vocal LJ backers??? There were about 3 of us and towards the very end - none. Isn't it funny how the most anti Johnson posters on here seem to be the most fervent Pearson backers now?- it's like a cult. There was never the same fervour for Lee and he was widely disliked and, boy oh boy, he came in for some stick for always selecting Weimann. The difference ,for me ,is that LJ gave me some great moments including the cup run. No one beats Cotts but I did like the LJ winning streaks- at least we had some then. As City fans, we don't get a lot of great moments but unless things change one of these could possibly be when NP leaves.
  7. You are probably right in that he'll stay. The reason I'm not keen on this is because whatever money is available in the summer is likely to be the ONLY money and I just can't see enough progress to let him spend it all. @Davefevs did mention about an upstairs move and a younger coach coming in and I'd be more happy with that.
  8. Yep. He has 7 more games- he's had 51 so far.
  9. The extension was triggered by number of performances
  10. On a serious note- I've said in other posts that Nige a)accepted a poison chalice b) has clearly done some good However, I remain of the opinion that he should go at the season's end. He's presided over an unacceptable set of results in 1 1/2 seasons and can't win a back to back game . Which is pitiful. Maybe he is just very unlucky. Absolutely no one on here can change my opinion- there is only one person that can and that's Nigel himself
  11. Come on You've made 745 posts in nine years. This is your chance to make some real definable progress and show NP how it's done.
  12. me me me - I'm dead up for it. Pearson picks his nose and eats it
  13. I like what you post Dave- especially when someone explains it to me! And I'm just about to join in.
  14. There was a massive positive today. My son tried the goat curry at BS3 and said it was fantastic- loads of meat, big portion and plenty of flavour. Highly recommended.
  15. Yep - after years of us moaning about it - we finally have lots of home grown talent coming in to the match day team. They're ( virtually) "ALL of own- all of our own, virtually all of our own".
  16. Yet your view of all things Lansdown has been disparaging long before he wanted to build houses- you have been anti Lansdown on here for years. Many thanks.
  17. I dont think there's any such thing as a Free- just less expensive but the likes of King, James and Simpson are still a big financial outlay. I genuinely believe that the Lansdown's will be considering their options right now with a view to a change at the end of the season if performances dont improve let alone results.
  18. Yes- most definitely it does sometimes- yet flipping a coin can be as reliable. I have seen nothing concrete beyond rare glimpses of possible progress but in the main- a constant theme of poor performances, dire results of a historic nature but great interviews assuring me that is the fault of past Club decisions, current players and bad refs. Heads or tails?
  19. So if he spends whatever money is available and buys players that are of a similar standard to those he has brought in so far and 8 weeks into the season we get a new man in - we've lost another season and the budget. If the season ends in a whimper with some more really poor performances then he should go and I dont think it will be a difficult decision for SL to make other than the financial consequences.
  20. Really good post- well said, well written. Another point I've been considering. Dasilva was one of the players that NP pretty much overlooked and everyone thought he was gone- one of 'the not up for it' brigade. Due to injuries- NP had no choice but to play him and low and behold- he's been one of our better defenders. When NP feels a player has not performed or hasn't bought in to his 'my way or the highway' philosophy then he really really isnt very pleasant. Everyone then loves it because it's apparently what we need and a breath of fresh air, players have been stealing a living for too long etc. I think his management skills are outdated and destructive on and off the pitch. That is not to say he hasn't done some good or that he had anything other than a poison chalice. But he's had long enough and I'd like to see him leave at the end of this season.
  21. That, in my opinion, is delusional. It's hard enough in normal business where you can put people on gardening leave and only prevent them from going to a new employer for a period. May be a big Prem club with huge squads and resources can tough it out with a player like Pogba etc but a club like BCFC? No chance and has never happened. If a player wants to leave, submits a request and there is a big money offer- the length of contract is irrelevant in that the player will leave anyway. The only thing that BCFC can do is ensure that a large fee is paid + sell on as they most certainly have done and done well where there is a contract of any length. Alternatively they leave for free as in Fam.
  22. Name one of our BEST players who we sold against their own wishes and ambitions? If opportunity to play at a higher level comes calling, it is not possible to prevent that player from leaving. Explain how any club like BCFC is able to keep a player from moving on? Kelly, Webster, Bryan and Reid- not one of them wanted to turn down a big money move to the Premiership. Flint was unbelievably good business but Pack was probably the only one who we could/should have kept and would have stayed.Pack was definitely not universally seen as one of best players.
