I would have thought, we’ll most certainly know eventually …….. he’ll either join another club, or retire.

Yes- that's one possible way to look at it. The flipside is that he might retire simply because he enjoys it and can do without the stress- I doubt he needs the money.

However, I think NP is an honest person and in the fullness of time may well decide to disclose details but that's entirely his prerogative .

Do they sack players when they're on crutches?

Generally no they don't and nor do they renew contracts depending on severity but comparing a player and Manager is not a good comparison. However if a player has a significant issue - they tend to retire.

For all the right reasons, the extent of Nige's problems are undisclosed  and whether or not he was fully capable of continuing to perform his full duties- as @Kid in the Riot says- we'll never know.

You can't sack someone because of their health.

Of course they've dressed it up as he was under performing etc but if it was a consideration in their decision, then thats ******* wrong on some many levels. Especially from a club that likes to promote how much good they do.

Nige seems to be well enough to go for walks on the beach.

Still on his crutches some three months later.

Even the Man United game, as good as it was, feels bittersweet when you reflect on how we've fallen away since, and how others have cruised past us into the Premier League in that time.

I do think there's an argument to say that the club (& fanbase) would benefit from a bit of a shift in mindset - we should be conscious of the fact that our history is disappointing and we should expect more.

No matter where we are- that night at the Man U game was simply sublime. Nothing bitter for me.

I started attending matches in the early 80's so thats 40 years now. Probably half that has been in Div 3. I genuinely don't get the "we should expect more" in that if you choose to drive a Ford Fiesta 1.1 then it's silly getting frustrated that it doesn't do 0-60 in 4.2 seconds.

I think we've only once looked like we may genuinely get to the top tier since 1980 and we've never come close since that season or before.BCFC are rank outsiders every year and I don't see that changing without a really big slice of luck/rub of the green/everything clicking.

Is it an agenda? Or just a way to vent frustration?

As you say - it's the majority view. So do you look at every posters previous posts? Just odd picking out Jim and making out he has an 'Agenda' as if he's hes just some sort of troll in some sort of an attempt to degrade his opinion. Otherwise why bother?

No- it's quite random really. Some I do and some I don't. Some I already know exactly what position they're going to take in the same way any regular poster would know I'm not going to join in with the anti Lansdown lobby. It's like an expected poster response ratio.

But if someone makes only very few posts over almost 5 months all saying the same thing i.e. Get out Lansdown or (I quote) "Pi55 off Lansdown" then , and you can call me cynical , I feel it's an agenda driven narrative in the absence of  posts about other matters.

As for putting people on "ignore" ( as suggested by @REDOXO) - I find it genuinely funny that an anonymous poster puts another anonymous poster on "ignore"- often anonymously. That is the ultimate sign of taking things too seriously and being in need of a break!  If someone doesn't agree then challenge their view and/or move on.

This is an anonymous football forum where the lines between truth and fiction are constantly merged.

No agenda here, just venting my frustration at what I believe to be poor management from our owner and board. The Pearson sacking and handling of it has made me more angry than even the appointment of Dean Holden. It's my view that they don't really know how to run our football club and we won't ever achieve promotion to the PL under their ownership, and it's high time they moved on and let someone else have a go.

Opinion or agenda? Up to you how you interpret that.

    See above reply.

That basically aligns with my thinking to be honest - in a a much more blunt manner granted. But it gets the jist of it.

Not sure what the point of snooping his account is, like the above. You can support a club, but be critical of the ownership and management.

Sorry if it's not all daisies and rainbows.

Snooping? I think of it as clarifying a position or agenda. Of course it's not all daisies etc but nor is it all doom and gloom. If a poster's every comment is deeply critical/negative/rude since August then it's pretty obvious that someone has an agenda but you know this.

Imagine spending your Saturday night going through someone’s post history. Absolutely tragic 😂

It takes about 3-4 minutes and is fascinating to see where someone's coming from. What is tragic is that there are those who have absolutely nothing but bile to post about the Lansdowns and Tinnion .

Personally I support Brian and the Lansdowns which is completely contrary to the majority narrative on OTIB. I will continue to do so for as long as I believe they are doing the right thing at the club and you will continue to find my views offensive to your own.

It's a bit like reading your posts where you almost never talk about, you know, actual football, and instead spend your whole time sniping at other posters!

You even posted like 20 times on the Blackburn thread and not ONE was about the actual game.

You'll always get an audience when it come sto me . Well done. Take the like you seek.

You need to take the internet less seriously bud.

And also, so what if thats my opinions? I stand by my feeling about the Lansdowns and Pearson's sacking. Doesn't mean I'm not a City fam

I didn't mention you not being a City fan.

You did- you said you wouldn't support our club anymore. Once because of some insane rumour about LJ and then because NP got sacked. But , hey, thinking about it then I guess someone who threatens that they wont support their club because of who might become Manager is probably pretty fairweather and unlikely to support the club unless it's going to your expectations.

  8. So @RedJim

You certainly seem to have a very special relationship with our Club.

Here's all the posts you've made since August ( spoiler alert... LJ didn't come back but you ditched BCFC anyway) :

    August 30

If Johnson came back that'd be me finished with City until Lansdown sells the club.

    October 29

Thanks Steve Lansdown, that's me done with this football club for a while. Please sell up, you haven't got a clue.

    October 30

Fantastic summary, great to read a take down of our clueless owner and chairman like that in the national media.

    October 30

    LANSDOWNS OUT!

    November 3

Not going to waste my time watching that entitled tosser try and justify things. Lansdowns out.

     November 7

Exactly what I'm thinking. I'm not sure I'll attend another game at the Gate this season, I've had it with Steve Lansdown FC.

    Wednesday at 06:50

Piss of Lansdowns and Tinnion - you've screwed up a decent thing that Nige was building at this club. Just go.

At least when we roughed up one of the Nolans in 1984 she was in the mood for the prime of life (and it was Saturday night, which was fer fighting back then), not a pensioner. Which one was it? Not Bernie. The drummer?

Anyhow, Ipswich: top team, crap mob.

So mob = 1 moron unless a group all held the can collectively.

Meanwhile BCFC fans are beyond reproach. No one has ever done anything against our (former) local rivals. Apart from setting fire to a stadium etc

    BCFC:  top mob, crap team?

  10. Oh dear FFS- Manning crashed the OTIB party by winning a game. How annoying.

There's virtually no new threads about how terrible it is , NP would have done better, joke board etc, etc. Very tedious for some.

But hey- never mind ..... there's always the obsession with a previous Manager who left several years ago , the one who no one else has done better than since.

Congratulations on a desperately needed new thread about Lee Johnson- just in case .

Assuming this is a correct quote from Manning as it’s on the Bristol Live page. What waffle! Back to the days of measuring grass it would seem. Its nearly enough to make you want to tap out at this point.

I think you "tapped out" at the point you felt it necessary to start a thread on an inconsequential sentence.

Ahead of my time quite clearly.

I used to rent my VHS videos from Matt's mother-in-law's video shop on Henleaze Rd who I became quite friendly with- in the best possible taste.
