That was on paper their easiest game left and they couldn`t win it. With Burton pulling away now it`s any four from six I reckon.

    Please let it happen!

Well they've got managerless Charlton tomorrow. So I expect they will hoping for a win, whilst a victory for Charlton would put them in play off contention.

He'd probably need a whole new personality too. I liked him as a player, thought he received a massive amount of necessary stick.

As a manager though, Jesus... I'm still 100% sure we will be the only Championship club e ever manages and that was down to nepotism, again.

If he fails to take Sunderland up all his guff in the world won't be able to answer in any future interview "How have you managed for 8 years and never earned a promotion?".

At some stage his CV will be louder than his PowerPoint and David Brent squeaks.

Are you still 100% sure? I think he's reaping the benefit of managing a club on merit and not being tainted with accusations of nepotism.

No doubt he's relishing his possible  return to the gate next season .

Apparently, Swindon's goalkeeper (on loan from Bournemouth) has been recalled and they need an urgent replacement for Saturday for their match against Rovers.

The word on one of their (Rovers) forums is that we are going to loan them JoJo W - I can't really see it, but just imagine if he plays a blinder and keeps a clean sheet.

Well Agent Jojoja has signed for Swindon on loan , so that should be interesting.

Hollowank would probably do the job until the end of the season for nothing; such is his love for that shitty little club

I`m getting a bit worried the second half hasn`t kicked off yet - match abandoned would be about right for the spawny gets.

Probably working out how to get a penalty and a Red card in their favour. Plenty of Red cards in the games tonight, so want to join the party.

The true rate in England is likely to be around 2,000 in 100,000. So the PL testing probably displays that it is pretty aligned with the woder population.

We also need to consider the effect of Long Covid on some players. I have a relative (a fit 44 year old) had Covid in March and is still suffering from some breathlessness and the inability to play the sport he played to the same level before he became ill.

Feel a little bit sorry for Darlington. Fair play to them trying to keep playing their game.

No doubt the Gas will claim they are world beaters. I don't think they've actually played that well considering the level of the opposition.

Much as I hate to say it, you can only beat what’s in front of you.

Obviously international rugby is slightly different, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a familiar pattern when tickets start going on sale for clubs

Twickenham will host 2,000 fans for England's final Autumn Nations Cup match on 6 December, with 400 seats gifted to NHS workers, the Rugby Football Union has confirmed.

Six hundred tickets will be given to players' families, local rugby clubs and sponsors, while 1,000 will be sold.

At least our next 3 games in Tier 3 are against teams that are also in Tier 3 , and luckily Millwall is a home game . So City avoid playing at Millwall in front of 2000 of their fans and none of our own.

Getting way ahead of myself here, but as a non-STH with little chance of going to Ashton Gate any time soon, I’m more concerned about the lack of a membership scheme this year and how I guarantee myself a ticket for Wembley in May when full crowds might be back!

It was a nightmare in 2008, when there was no membership scheme and lots of genuine supporters missed out to day trippers. Hopefully this wouldn’t be repeated.

Agree we are getting ahead of ourselves but if we make it to Wembley I can’t see full crowds being back in May. I suspect it will be capped at about 30000 (1/3rd) and that’s being optimistic, with a beam back to Ashton Gate for possibly 7/9000 fans (again based on 1/3rd capacity)

    You can't be serious?

Stop looking at the negative in the situation.

If we are to split 4,000 around the ground.

There's more than enough capacity for that number.

A socially distanced pub I was drinking in had a capacity of 84 people and easily coped with two urinals and a cubicle for men and two cubicles for women.

It's been proven to work elsewhere, it will work fine for us

I agree that Ashton gate will be able to cope , especially if fans are sensible and see it as a privilege to be allowed in. I do however with the number of Covid cases being reported,  fully expect Bristol to be in a minimum tier 2 and therefore it will only be 2000 fans and not the 4000 capacity that everyone seems to be getting excited about.

To be fair to Wael, he does seem a genuine fan and, judging by his latest letter, appears to have a sense of humour....

Prior to Paul’s appointment we were delighted that Tommy (100%) Widdrington agreed to take caretaker charge of the team. It was felt at the time that Tommy’s knowledge of the squad and experience was perfectly suited to take the reins until the right candidate was appointed. He leaves the management hot seat after the win over Chelsea (for which he has been fined!) and remains an integral part of the club. Tommy will assist Paul in his initial transition into the role and continue to oversee the football department at the club.

and now he’s officially been appointed Director of Football.

  12. Despite all the jokes I think this is a good appointment. Thought his interview with GT tonight was quite refreshing

I know we ought to be taking the piss on this thread, but I actually think that ‘could’ be a very good appointment.

People look at Tisdale’s record but don’t look at the limitations under which he was working.
At Exeter, there was a specific requirement to keep the club sustainable through the sale of their best young players. It’s a brave manager who plays 16 and 17 year olds, regularly, in the knowledge that by exposing them to first team experience, as well as ‘shop-windowing’ them, is in the best interests of the club versus ‘getting a result’.

Playing the likes of Grimes, Watkins, Ampadu etc over the years, and having little budget to buy players of relevant experience and quality to complement them, was a tricky balance, but one which was necessary for the club to survive.
People will argue that the academy at Exeter was all Perryman’s work, but you have to have a 1st team manager who buys into it and gives the players the exposure. Sticking 16 year old into your team, no matter how talented they are, is always going to mean a mixed set of results.

So, there’s 2 things that the blue few need to get into their skulls re Tis.
    1) He’s not a shouter, a ranter and raver, and he won’t give them any ‘anti-city’ sound bites and sing ‘Irene’ down Glos Road. He doesn’t necessarily fit the personality that the gas fans seem to take to their hearts. If they can handle a non-partisan thinker, then they’ll reap the rewards.
    2) He will have a long term plan. He’s not a short term manager. This means he may not get instant results but he’ll be doing what he thinks is right for the future sustainability of the club. He’ll give youth players a chance, knowing they can potentially be an ‘asset’ for the club. He’ll want the right culture, etc.
It’s actually a bit of a SOD comparison when he was here. There’s lots of important stuff being done behind the scenes to get the club in a good position for the future, but there’s little budget and results might not be great initially.
If the fewers give Tis time, I think he’ll do well.

Problem is, on both counts above, it’s not the Rovers fans ‘dna’ to be patient, particularly with a bloke who won’t get involved in their partisan ‘we’re the best supporters in the world and **** city’ attitude.

I agree all joking aside this is a good appointment for the gas. Listening to his interview with Geoff Twentyman he sounds quite measured both in respect of the back room staff and the players. Think he will do well, if he gets given the time.

Having now been through wiki, the last season where they played against teams from a lower division and didn’t suffer at least one defeat was 2011-12. They truly are rubbish.

Whilst I admire your observation, I’m not sure we have too much to shout about in this regard?
