Having seen Araoye, I'd have no problem in starting him if necessary.

Been keeping tabs on him for the past 12 months and I know the coaching team rate him very highly and think he could step into the first team if required as he has the physique to cope

Just experience lacking but he does all the right things well and looked comfortable yesterday but wasn’t really tested

As with the Swindon game, there is clearly an emphasis on trying to get Scott into more attacking and potentially goal-scoring positions.

It makes you wonder with all the transfer speculation and bids, why bother playing and planning these tactical positions if he is going to leave - or maybe not??

All strange one, reminds me a bit of the Liam Walsh scenario few years back, when he had a storming season at Coventry, great expectations, came back to us got injured and never really saw the light of day at BS3.

KW great season at FGR gets injured and rest is history…. He might well be one who got away and will be interesting to see how it all pans out at Derby. Interesting watch this season.  Time will tell

And what has Walsh done since he left??

  4. If you play to feet or into areas where the defender cannot make a challenge without some risk then you don’t need to have a big physical forward, running the right channels, coming short or going long with pace is how we use our frontline when attacking teams

having a high press also means we look to win the ball in the opponents defensive areas and I can see a lot of our goals coming from that approach next season

High press means the opponents only realistic out ball is hitting it long and our defensive physicality can then pick up these balls and start off another attack

Makes Andi Weimann look like a right lazy-bastard! ???

He’s really busy, bright, and decent technically.  Can play CM, AM (not a 10 imho) or anywhere down the right side.  Has played RB too this season.

Hes someone who likes to break the lines, especially to get into goalscoring position.  Most of his goals have been coming into the box late, or on blindside runs.  He looks like an intelligent player.

He is a pressing monster too.

    image.png.4649c5efce6f230b55b2dc9a1392b6e3.png

Counterpressing is where you win the ball back within 5 seconds of your team losing it.  He was second in Lg1 last season!

Someone above mentioned Brownhill, I see why that comparison is made.  Josh probably a bit better technically (especially shooting), but Knight tucked in on the right side of midfield would see a lot of similarities.

I think he would allow us flexibility in the construction of our midfield.  Certainly allows us to play as the 8 in a more 4123 set-up (as opposed to 4213).  Knight centre-right side 8, Scott centre-left side 8 would have a lot to like.

If Scott does stay then I can see him playing at the point of a diamond midfield

Looking at the current squad I’m trying to figure out where McCrorie & Roberts fit into a system and where NP sees them playing

  6. Kalas for what we paid for him has been disappointing since being at City

I appreciate he’s struggled with injuries the last 18 months and he will more than likely leave this summer

The club have obviously offered him a new deal but very much risk based and I for one feel that is the right thing to do

if TK thinks he can get a better deal elsewhere then he is free to do so in the knowledge that he can always re-sign with us but I dare say the club have a timeline on the contract offer

Not aimed at yourself Dave - but there are plenty on here who rave on as if Alex Scott is Premier League ready etc. I’ve seen comments describing him as our “greatest ever youngster” etc and you could be forgiven for thinking he is the only up and coming English talent the way some posters carry on

He is an incredible talent - with bags of potential - I’m simply saying some people on here make out like he is ready to waltz into a Premier League starting 11.

    Its a huge step up

100% agree, look at the England U21s doing so well at the moment and most getting very little game time in the Premier league

I would like to think AS wouldn’t just jump at the first opportunity and just bide his time. If he stays for at least another season I would like to think he sees a pathway to the Premier league with us rather another club

  8. I’m not bothered and think the club have moved on. If JB was told he would be treated the same as everyone else in the squad and be selected on merit and he’s had a change of heart then so be it

I recall some of the verbal spats he had with LJ on the touchline in games towards the end of his time at City and thought he overstepped the mark regardless of what he thought he shouldn’t be openly arguing the toss with the manager

This came up on my Facebook this morning. Came up as a page suggestion for me called AFCBournemouthfans or something along those lines with a huge picture of Scott on it.

? Bournemouth eyeing up move for £25 million-rated Bristol City man.

Following a fantastic 2022-23 Championship season, the stock of midfielder Alex Scott is at an all-time high - and that means Bristol City supporters should probably expect the club to cash in on him this summer.

The Guernsey maestro has had a remarkable rise in the last two years and he's had interest from top flight clubs for as long as that, but never as much as he has this summer.

Bournemouth look ready to splash the cash and according to the Daily Mail, they have lined Scott up as a target.

The Cherries are no stranger to raiding Ashton Gate for talents having taken Ghana international forward Antoine Semenyo in the January window, and they have made Scott a real player of interest this summer.

Bournemouth were taken over by American businessman Bill Foley back in December and he invested into the squad in the mid-season transfer window, which ended up keeping them in the top flight.

They currently see £25 million as too much though for Scott, and they aren't the only club to feel that way with West Ham United and Wolves also not wanting to sign the teenager for that price.

No idea if it's a source to be trusted, or whether it's just their equivalent of our Bristol City Till I Die page. Thought I'd add to the pile though....

If they see £25m as too much then he won’t be going there unless they want to trade a player that we would want to balance the deal

I can see Scott still being here when the window closes if we stick to a £25m valuation. It may be that a club becomes willing to pay that if he continues to improve next season but I don't think he is there just yet. This is good news as far as I'm concerned as I want to see us pushing for top six next season.

I am thinking the same, I don’t think premier league clubs will take a £25m punt on a 20 year old with 2 years left on a contract

if he has a stellar season and we miss out on promotion then I think we will cash in but at this moment in time and if I were a premier league club I think i could find better value for £25m with more experience

    I hope I’m right! ?

Trying to work out what we realistically will it can get for Scott tbis summer is quite difficult.

Few on this forum mention Borussia Dortmund.

Alvarez, Ajax midfield- linked for €35m. 6 years older than Scott. About £30.1m. Is 25 and will turn 26 in October.

Nmecha, Wolfsburg also midfield- linked with both Borussia Dortmund and Man United. Is 22 and will turn 23 in October. Seen him suggested at £15m.

Alvarez also linked with West Ham. Palhinha £50-60m a key priority for West Ham- 27 and turns 28 in July. 8 years older than Scott.

Benchmarking with players is very difficult but does this give us any indicator?

Scott btw having just checked is ahead of all of them in terms of first team gametime at their respective ages.

We are not obliged to or need to sell Scott as he has 2 years left on his contract, let’s not push the lad out the door just yet. Another year in the Championship with us will not do him or us any harm and could enhance his reputation and value

Good reasoning in your post. My view of last paragraph would be slightly different.

    1. Kalas is, at present, a decent Championship centre half. But what will he be in two years of a three year contract? Not as good and still one of the highest paid?

    2. Zak Vyner had a very good record in season just gone. Big question is will he continue improving at a similar rate or has he reached his peak? Is this why the offer of a new contract has not be taken up yet because Zac wants a higher pay level and NP doesn't believe he will continue improving at last season's rate?

In some ways I can see why the club are offering as they are, but will either be able to take us to another plane?

It will be interesting to watch how it develops in the next two years if they both stay.

What we don’t want is for him to end up at Crapdiff on a better contract
