Pretty much everyone knew before today that goal scoring was going to be one of our biggest challenges, today simply reinforced it. Despite being the better team for large periods we never really looked like getting a second goal and when we did create chances, COD and AW for example in the first half, we could not even hit the target.

So, IMO we need to strengthen our forward line and that means selling someone. We have three weeks to do those deals otherwise, I fear, we will be in for a tough season with few goals.

I know we have NW and AS to consider however I can’t see us scoring many unless we add someone.

To be clear lots of other aspects of our performance today were encouraging.

Premier league name their squads soon so there will be lots of loans to pick from before window closes and the big merry go round starts

I don't....you play with fire, you're gonna get burned....  They knew exactly the sort of person they were appointing and most of the fan base celebrated it.  They get everything they deserve.

I couldn't resist....I'm just surprised that they aren't more comments!

I think everyone in football knows what there is to know about JB, he obviously has a long list of previous assaults both on and off the pitch and is a liability where ever he goes. What I find amazing is that he is still employable based on this

Gardening leave until it reaches court... he's up before the beak on Monday. And I'd be surprised if he was going in on Sunday.

Makes no difference if his wife pressed charges, if it was witnessed and reported then police are obliged to investigate

  4. So they blame the last 3 managers ineptitude as well as the players but they just can’t see that the problem is and always has been Wally!

I can’t see them flukeing their way out of relegation and they are that bad they will struggle in L2

As one of them said on Gaschat, why would anyone want to go to the Mem post lockdown and watch that crap in a ramshackle stadium and in L2 en route to the National league

I really can't see Cotts lowering himself to take the Rovers job.

He may feel it would be putting one over on SL to go there, and then do well, but SL aside I think he has far too much affection for BCFC generally, and City fans in particular, to even consider it.

He's far too good for them, of course, and, after his years at AG he's now an honorary City fan who probably dislikes them anyway.

I'll be surprised, and very disappointed, if he demeaned himself by even contemplating such a disastrous career move.

Short, sharp, and to the point - tell them to **** *** Cotts. :city:

Rag bag Rovers - Dint think Cotts would lower himself ?

No way LJ will go there. When we sacked him he had ages left on his contract that we have to keep paying him while he’s not working (most likely). He’d have to take a huge pay cut to go there. His methods involve huge spending on facilities, infrastructure and tech etc.

Cotts may go for it but when he was with us he bought the best players in the league, then in the Championship he wanted to spend huge sums (anyone remember the Dwight Gayle saga?). I doubt Wael can afford his wages never mind assemble the sort of squad SC would want. The last thing he wants on his CV is a few years of mediocrity at that level.

They’ll end up with a bloke most of us have never heard of but they’ll see as the new messiah after getting some obscure team promoted in the non-league a few years back.

They’re in for a long and difficult season.

Agree, it will be another unknown who will be cheap although I wouldn’t be surprised if Marcus Stewart ended up back there

I can see them being in serious trouble cone the New Year, bottom 4, Wael burning money he doesn’t have and no one to bail him out

    Relegation and even administration looms

Well i know its been 20 years, but growing up, the games against rovers with the likes of penrice, holloway, devon white etc etc were like going to war, it would be great for the next generation of city fans to have their donowa moment, but its just not going To happen. They are an embarrassment.

I fear those Derby matches may never return. One can only hope one of the domestic cups reignites the interest. As 20 years pass since they were ever able to consider themselves to be on a par we have just gone on to a different level and tbh I just think of them in the same light as FGR, Cheltenham & Exeter

  8. I can recall back in the mid 80s and a girl I was going out with at the time had the unfortunate disposition that her dad was a staunch gas head, her sister was married to a Walsall fan and they were playing at Eastville in a league game and invited me down with them knowing I was city through and through

Having stood in the run down inclosure listening to them moan and berate their players and watching what was a dire game end up 0-0 I said at the end to my girlfriends dad. That was s**t and why I am red through & through

About 2 months later I dumped her and put it down as a bullet dodged ?

They have been saying that about Steve for years, it's just a desperate hope, in the absence of any hope for their own club.

The question they should ask is: In 5 years time who is more likely to still be in place, Steve or Wally? Indeed, which club is more likely to still exist?

What they don’t get is that Lansdown is building an infrastructure and revenue stream to sustain the football, Rugby and basketball by investing in property, hotels and facility that hols conferences, exhibitions, concerts

Lansdown is focused on Self sustainability of the clubs and therefore the need to invest personally will not be as great

Revenue into Bristol sport will not only create a substantial income but be fed back into these clubs

Never been a rioter but was present at the 'goings on' at Reading, Swindon, Plymouth, and even Torquay - after the game (Nolan sister, made the papers)

Also on the train to York, as mentioned above, but remember that as a good day out and very peaceful except the first City fan off the train at York ran across the platform shouting, BRRRISSSSSSSSSSSTOL, and was promptly rugby tackled to the ground by police and arrested.

Always thought that was a long way to go to be arrested within 30 seconds!

Went to Swindon and Torquay games, I can recall at Torquay as we got dropped off by the coach near the ground that it had all kicked off as there was a police riot van on its side in the road

i was about 18 at the time and thought WTF has just happened

Swindon was a proper mob we took up that day and no surprise it kicked off

Also went to the Old Den when couple of coach loads from the Venture Inn Knowle Wests finest arrived 10 mins after the game started and decided to take on Millwall at the rear entrance of their end right next to us in the away end - Thought I was going to die early that day

    It was all an experience!

I kind of get this mate. If they were by some miracle get to the Championship they really would be the whipping boys (which would be funny) and really all they would care about is the two games against us.

What would be hilarious though is they were to get promoted in the same season we did as well.

    They’re coming for us!!!

That would be funny if we got promoted also - mind the gap!!

Even if we didn’t and they did, they would be in for one hell of a culture shock

In some perverse sort of way I would quite like to play them again in a league game, how many years is it now??

    Probably will be.

    Their away support is shit.

Gotta be honest I thought they’d make more of an effort for this but it seems even the day trippers who only go to the big away grounds are deserting them now.

Plenty of them are serious as well.

What happened to the so called ‘super fans’ who NEVER get on their managers back?

    Hypocrites

Yet they will still claim to travel everywhere in greater numbers than us. This just proves to them and some of our more gullible fans what a load of bullshit that claim is. Imagine how few they would’ve taken if they visited St Andrews every year like we do?

Didn't we take 3k+ when we were last in League 1??

If you need cheering up, have a read of this thread (about the low crowd and reasons why it was low) comedy gold!

    http://gaschat.co.uk/thread/14848/attendance-shoot-foot?page=1

To be fair it appears the penny has finally dropped. Wouldn't be surprised for their attendances to hit sub 6k in the near future as opinions on gas chat are not exactly an endorsement of a club coming for us
