  1. Agreed - he has slotted in really well. I really like his competitiveness.
  2. Glad to see Williams is deemed fit enough to play. With HNM out, we need some energy in the side. So is Wells injured? Apologies if this has been mentioned already on this thread but I haven’t had time to read it all.
  3. Not going to today’s game, but I’ve been there a couple of times, most memorably a game on Valentine’s Day when I think Tommy Doc scored the winner. I always used to like their ground, the away terrace had a cavernous roof. I’ve got no idea how we’ll get on today. The fact it’s one of those theoretically “winnable” games makes me nervous.
  4. I’d go with this, although I’d have Dasilva at LWB instead of COD.
  5. You’re right, there were always songs about them. The “all hate Bristol Rovers clap your hands” one was a staple song in the EE in the late 80s/early 90s.
  6. I love the Tom Thumb song too. It has never been the same in all seater stadiums, though.
  7. Great finish by Palmer. At first I thought it had gone in the side netting or the roof of the net.
  8. I thought he had a good game. That tackle was brilliant and really got the crowd going.
  9. Yep, Fulham looked impressive. Comfortable on the ball, quick, good movement, great passing.
  10. Williams was superb when he came on, he took the midfield by the scruff of the neck.
  11. I was very pleased with a draw today against a very good Fulham side who out-played us at times. Their left back looked excellent. We looked very open and gave them too much space to pick a pass when they had the ball. But we battled well, the subs made a difference and we could have snatched the win. It felt good coming away from the ground after an entertaining game.
  12. I’m not keen on the idea. When I’ve been to the rugby the constant flow of people leaving their seats to get a drink creates a really strange atmosphere. It’s also bad enough at football games at the moment with so many fans leaving their seats 10 mins before half time.
  13. Yep, me too. Excellent goal, and the scenes among the City fans….brilliant.
  14. That video of him is really cringeworthy. He loves the limelight when things are going well but hides when things are going badly.
  15. What a brilliant result. I’m overjoyed that we won today. I was feeling pretty gloomy since the Luton game and wasn’t expecting us to win today. Well done to NP and the squad. Looking at the highlights, what great finishes from both Martin and Wells, especially the latter where he had a long time to think about where he was going to place it and kept a cool head. Also it’s good to see us counter attack at pace.
  16. Yes, we are mid-table. I just meant that at this early stage of the season, with some tough games coming up when points might be hard to come by, it is easy to get sucked into the lower echelons of the table which can have a negative effect on confidence.
  17. I’ve got a bad feeling we’re going to lose today, but hopefully I’m wrong. Those 4 points we’ve dropped by conceding late goals against Blackpool and Luton really have created more pressure.
  18. Happy with a point in the end. We could easily have lost because Preston looked dangerous throughout and had that spell at the end of the first half when we were on the ropes. Daniel Johnson played well for them today (always seems to play well against us), although he was less effective in the second half. We created little and didn’t really look like scoring. Massengo stood out, although he looked slightly lost on the right hand side at first. Wells wasn’t on for long but looked sharp. The ref was poor. Frustrating that we’re still waiting for that home win, and it wasn’t an exciting performance, but another point gained.
  19. Fingers crossed for a win today. With both teams having changed managers this year I’m hoping the Preston jinx is at an end.
  20. Pad, Paws and Claws - Elvis Costello
  21. Excellent result, especially because we bounced back from their equaliser (another silly goal we’ve conceded). It sounds like the team showed plenty of backbone. Three important points.
  22. Completely agree. He deserved to be given a run based on his performances. I haven’t seen enough of him since then to comment on his form since, but based on posts on here it really seemed to set him back.
