  1. they were 4th, 1 point behind 2nd placed Bolton, 7 points clear of 7th placed Oxford.
  2. I want Lincoln to get into the playoffs, because they have some players I'm keen to watch more closely: Jensen - GK Roughan - LB (LWB or LCB) Sorenson - RWB (CM too) Joe Taylor - CF (loan from Luton)
  3. yeah, don't agree they were meaningless in fairness WSMS. I think had they not improved there would be some serious conversations happening above. Possibly more along the lines of how do we make this work, ie spend in the summer. Had it gone disastrously, ie lose 5 out of 6, I think he might not have made the summer. But it hasn't, form (can I use that word?) has turned around and recovered a position to 'respectable'....just needs to continue this now.
  4. Ta @Silvio Dante @mozo Silv's response is not a million miles away from what I would've posted. Oxford didn't have as many technical players as MKD relatively, so not exactly the same style. Which is why when he first came in I hoped he'd base it what he had here, show adaptability, etc. But I think he tried to go more like his MKD-style than Oxford per se, and that run pre-Easter was pretty worrying. Whatever happened, post-Easter has been a compromise, some pragmatism, but whatever him and Hoggy might say it is different to pre-Easter, but I don't think he'll openly say anything other than it was due to time on the grass. And in some ways that's ok. Maybe a bravery to change whatever he changed couldn't be done without a two week gap. My hope is that this run, even if results have slightly exceeded performance, is the 'new norm'. Even if results regress to performance, I still see that as more than acceptable. And you could argue 'intent' (a simple word to describe several things), is a case of 'fortune favours the brave'. Id say Ipswich are reaping the rewards of that in a division where there is quite a cautiousness in approach borne out of generalisation of 'young coach' approaches. Ipswich aren't the second best team, but they go for it, and have got their rewards. If that makes sense. I don't buy 'they aren't his players'. No manager, unless they go 2.5 / 3 years into role gets anything like 'their players'. The contract cycle, especially as we really come out of the covid cycle, dictates you have to make do with what you have by and large. Evolution, not revolution.
  5. It coincided with SL being in Guernsey, Keith Dawe stepping away and SL thinking Jon could do the job he still has. Ashton took advantage. Good football administrator, but keep him in his box. The Arizona Pension boys have done that after they saw what leaving him alone did in his first season there!
  6. Was reading this article from the Sheffield Star: and pulled out these sections: replace Owls with Robins and Rohl with Manning, maybe? @Silvio Dante the final sentence could be us since Leicester after the painful run of games playing a mid / low block similar scenario ahead of Easter, Manning needing results, a more pragmatic, “get at them higher up the pitch” approach. Tactics, or at least the way the game plays out influenced by opposition. A balance of styles!!! @spudski you’ll like this. Crosses = low percentage opportunity, especially ones outside the lines of the 18 yard box. Balance v Purity. A realisation that you cannot play a one-dimensional game like Leicester / Southampton without top players.
  7. So, their academies are so big, they need PL2 fixtures, EFL trophy matches and now a new cup with NL. Maybe don’t take so many kids on, let them find their levels or their own route up the leagues.

  9. Normally you’d have to be registered on our squad list at the end of the winter window, and normally he’d be registered with Aldershot for the season. Max Bird is registered on Derby’s squad list for example, not ours. But because he’s u21 that’s not the case. And because Aldershot are national league, it means it’s a bit uncertain. Seb Palmer Hpulden couldn’t finish at Newport tomorrow and play for us at Stoke next weekend for example.
  10. Ta, was looking at “loan to” column on my xls. Meerholz will just be lack of info on my part….other than he’s a 2023 scholar. I might as well update him to 25.
  11. @GrahamC and I were discussing it the other day and I reached out to another otiber who shall remain nameless, but none of us could work out if he was eligible or ineligible based on the rules! My gut feel is no he’s not, but as he’s u21 he doesn’t need to be added to the squad list. Elijah Morrison in the uncut video, maybe he has a chance of being included.
  12. Based on Nick’s handiwork here is the capacity: I’m sure some of the Atyeo is reduced down for whatever reasons. I ended up with this based on Nick’s rationale (remove if 100% full). So if you add 2.5k(ish) in SS, that ought to leave a bit number of POTD for SS.
  13. According to my records: Francois is the only one with a one-year option. I’d be surprised if Meerholz isn’t really 2025 as he’s a 2023 scholar (I think). I’m pretty sure HWR, DI, DK have been told already they won’t be being kept on. +++++ The list above is any player who has featured in a first team match day squad (competitive or pre-season). +++++ I think you can add Ben Acey and Marley Rose to the list of contracts expiring this summer.
  14. I can remain hanging upside down in the batcave, @Lrrr was on it. I believe that non-pros have to be told around the 3rd week in March.
  15. @IAmNick please can you run your script when our first game goes on sale please. Save everyone counting seats on the webpage! Ta!
  16. In Brum’s case it appears that they want Mowbray to come back, hence the interim appointment of Rowett. Who knows, Mowbray may decide (or have it decided for him by medical people) that he can’t come back. But Brum are waiting to see how Mowbray gets on first. I honestly don’t know why a similar approach couldn’t be taken, either let Fleming take over like he did in covid, or realise they needed an interim. Well, I retract that last statement, I know why…it was an excuse to lever him out. They picked their moment (after their first attempt failed). Don’t forget they sacked Rennie, Euell immediately with Nige and then Fleming as Manning appointed. But the main thrust of it is not the sacking it’s how they handled it, in particular the comms to the fans. That sums up the decision makers at the club. I had nothing to do with Manning, apart from some fans pushing it onto him. Manning should be judged on what he does.
  17. The club is good at this. Still remember CHSW arranging for Joe to spend a day at the training ground, happened to end up being the day after LJ was appointed. LJ could’ve easily postponed it, but he was “nah, bring him in, we’ll make sure he has a great day”.
