  1. We are after Madio Sane!
  2. However much stick we want to give, very few prove us wrong. Its a tough gig trying to get a deal when released. And once they leave that pro environment it’s hard to get back. Fair play to Harper, 30+ apps for Exeter. He was the one I was really surprised we let go. But it was still the right decision. James Morton (it’s his birthday today) is at NL Southend. I guess for some, once out of the full time game they can earn more holding down a job and getting £200 per game somewhere.
  3. Some of it was, Google was my friend for others! I think the financial stuff was overplayed. E.g. is it really a surprise that they couldn’t re-contract Andre Ayew on £80k p.w, now they’d lost PPs. I think it was just returning to being sensible, rather than being anything like us, Brum, Reading, etc.
  4. Really? Just finished 4th, missing out in playoffs under Cooper. They lost £80k p.w. Andre Ayew, and Connor Roberts and Jamal Lowe, but that was it, bringing in Downes, Obafemi, Piroe, Pato, Christie. Under no threat of FFP. In fact the year before they turned in a profit (final £15m PP).
  5. You’ll still have the same debates. You have to draw the lines (even in a Lino’s head) somewhere. Toenail of defender versus arse cheek / flailing elbow of forward. I think you’ll get less offsides, but you’ll still get really tight decisions. I think it will actually be harder to judge. It think it’s easier to spot an attacker protruding wrong side of a defender than it is to work out clear daylight. That’s just me though. Don’t forget we went through similar in the 80s when we moved to / from level being offside.
  6. Seen a bit of him, handful outside the box, not enough quality where it matters.
  7. I wasn’t referencing a “side”, just saying there are those who can’t divorce the two and those that have agendas. Agree.
  8. Since when were the Cotswolds renowned for their Salt plains? Lordy, you’ve got it bad!
  9. Because some people are incapable of divorcing the two, do not understand context, nuance, etc etc. And some have agendas too!
  10. Some similar sentiments here. Firstly, I don’t expect us to hit “the heights” every game, we are always gonna be inconsistent. But I can feel some positivity because it appears that LM may well have realised that low block, passive football isn’t gonna work. Whatever the reason for the change, an epiphany, more time “on the grass”, luck, “it was always the plan but I needed Twiney”, etc, it appears that a higher / harder / more intense desire to get the ball back might be the predominant way forward. I’ve just come off of some X-tennis (twitter) with James P, who said that in his post-match interview, LM referred to having Knight in midfield enables them to press with more intent from the front-line. So we have gone from 424 block, with a first-line-4 with Knight but gaps behind, to a 343-press with Knight in the second-line, where he provides the legs, but also the ability to regain the ball in the opposition half and drive us forward against unstructured defences. This feels like a big part of our recent improved performances (and results too). It’s not the silver bullet, but feels important.
  11. World farting championship?
  12. Or have a history under a previous forum name (no, not Lez) for similar stuff!
  13. That’s just follows “umpires call” like in cricket. I think you also do it just for penalty incidents and red cards / potential red cards. Leave offsides to the Lino’s, even if they get it wrong.
  14. Agree, if thats the method / approach and it’s executed I can buy into it.
  15. Ref gets no say once a review is requested. Video ref - all on him. Ref avoids flak as a result.
  16. Definitely has to be a manager’s review system.
  17. @cityexile excellent summary. Heres a better screenshot with the 14 / 24 promoted teams highlighted with PPs.
  18. The biggest reach I’ve heard on otib…ever. Hmmmmmmmm. MOT
  19. Seen a bit of him, handful outside the box, not enough quality where it matters.
  20. I’ve been quite outspoken about whether we should try to match the possession sides or not, and fallen on the side of “not”, because in the main those sides are the monied teams. Saw this reply to a thread started by a PNE fan and journo:
  21. Think it’s down to what squad we shape up this summer. I don’t think we will be spending much, hence the look abroad, plus Bird is already signed.
  22. Stuart Attwell the Luton fan who gave a goal against Watford, that didn’t even go in the net? You’ll remember that we’ll Mark! Suggest he has form. Just watched them quickly, third is a pen for sure.
  23. Based on their recent form, they’ll probably win both! They beat Sunderland and Leeds, drew with Southampton and lost to us and Wednesday. Bonkers!
  24. What a game that will be, not necessarily a spectacle, but of huge importance.
  25. That would mean reading the T&Cs first!
