  1. Hoping City do a decent highlights package post-match. Tinpot -spot on.
  2. Text updates via website, https://www.afcb.co.uk/matches/first-team/2022-23/afc-bournemouth-v-bristol-city/
  3. They’ve partnered each other several time in pre-season already, or are you saying you’ve just not seen the games??? Looks that way doesn’t it. Chill everyone….the aim of pre-season is to be in the best shape for Hull C in 7 days time…not Bournemouth today!
  4. There is an in-house game next week…behind closed doors obviously….Pre-season being executed to plan, and also not giving away next week’s line-up.
  5. Got a load of kicks from Key and Caprice on Tuesday…nothing serious, just resting a minor knock.
  6. Nah, he’s keep Klose on the bench to use his experience with Towler and Wood should the back 3 be changed in the second half. Just like against Exeter.
  7. Cousin of the brilliant NZ and Somerset player Martin Crowe (and Jeff Crowe). When asked if he was into cricket like his cousins, he said he was, and that he was decent but unlike the Chappell brothers for Oz he didn’t want to be remembered as the crap one, Trevor!!! ?
  8. My personal opinion is that he best affects play in the final third from central midfield, not as a AM/10. In modern football parlance, he is an “8”, he’s Josh Brownhill in his middle seasons here, but better with it technically (although Josh improves this part massively). I feel he’s wasted as a 10, I want him to get in the ball as much as possible. Don’t get me wrong he’d still be good in there, but I feel he’s more influential starting in a conventional CM role. We saw that in the Euros this summer too. …who knows, we might even see him play RWB, especially if Wilson needs to cover LWB with Pring out (who could be back today???) I think it was apparent why Wilson has had minutes at LWB in pre-season. The make up of our 7 subs might only allow one WB (FB), so with Wilson able to play either side, might mean we can be more flexible with our bench options. Although if Pring is fit, he can cover LCB too…although I feel the more defensive his role is, the less it suits him.
  9. I honestly can’t see Elliott taking a City player with zilch League experience.
  10. There is definitely EFL interest in him. I’ve had a club approach me for info on him.
  11. Thanks @Mr Popodopolousfir putting in the effort, will read fully myself in time. For me, the biggie was the bit re Covid: As I suggested (although no means was I certain), the £7.5m was the club not having to evidence, and anything over this has to be evidenced and covered in accounts. The retrospective / retroactive bit is good to see. Clubs like Forest added notes to their 20/21 accounts re 21/22 “losses”, whereas we put nothing. They were covering their arses, but I worried that as we hadn’t put anything, might be have missed the boat. The new rules allow us to submit in our reporting alone, not having to put into accounts per se. So, now, more than ever I’m confident Richard Gould will have agreed with the EFL what we are “excluding” for Covid and it will be more than the £7.5m…and we will therefore be inside FFP / P&S for this period (ending 22/23). As you know our position strengthens from 23/24 onwards, so we are in a safe place as far as I’m concerned. IKm sure other clubs like Stoke will be “fudge” through more exclusions than us, and there will be some clubs who’ve put through less than us. They really were extraordinary times, but I’d also blame clubs like us for allowing us to get into a situation where Covid completely screwed our financial planning. Guess my FFP Covid exclusion estimates aren’t really worth the cells in excel they are now typed into…but I will keep them going until 21/22 drops out…I’m a patient man ??? Yes, definitely something to look into and get our heads around.
  12. No stream by Bournemouth either (Dave Barton confirmed to me). Tinpot!
  13. I’ve always thought him very ordinary (ability wise)….but the word I’ve always used about him is “tenacious”. That’s a good quality to have and may take him further than ability alone. I liked how in the PDL final he started poorly at LB, but then moved to RCB and his performance was a driving factor in getting us back in it. I’m surprised he’s got a Lg1 loan, thought he’d get a Lg2 / NL loan first-up. I wonder if Wade was watching the Pompey game? He had a tough 45 v Exeter on Tuesday. But ultimately, a cracking loan and a real chance to kick his career on another notch. The only side note is that Jon Palmer (Glos News) has said that Cheltenham are looking at another loan, and gave 5 already, so something won’t make the match day 18.
  14. No, they appointed a great manager (Wilder), at the start of 2016/17 season, recruited sensibly, and rode a big wave, after others failed with big backing. How many City managers (before LJ) were given money in Lg1 and couldn’t get us promoted. Cotts met the objective (and JPT too) within a well managed budget. He didn’t just get promoted, he “battered it”!!!
  15. Looks like Josh Owers pre-season injury has cleared up, seeing as he played in the u23s the other night. That’s one more…not forgetting Benarous. He might be injured, but there’s a pathway (genuine pathway) to protect too.
  16. There were certainly plenty who saw that era through…. this still cracks me up, every time I hear it. The slip of the tongue comments afterwards doesn’t help.
  17. Very different player to Chris Martin Yes, he worked with Ian Eisentrager (son on Alec), who is / was a boxing trainer and former Army PE instructor. I played with Ian at Odd Down, fit as a fiddle and very demanding. I’ve seen pictures of Louis being trained by him. Seem to….but that’s not the whole story. Realising you’re going to be key go in the summer with a window shut, what do you do? In fairness he’s got himself over to Ireland, where they run a summer season calendar so that he can get competitive games. Initially on trial with Derry to get himself known over there, then to Waterford on trial. With his contract ending with City, he’s decided that he’s better playing competitive football (now with Cork) until the summer season ends (in October). He’s putting himself in the shop window. He’s 3rd top scorer in the league. West Brom sent their CB Kevin Joshua on loan there too. Phoenix Patterson is a baller, I recommended him to Harry to pass on (ex-Watford and Spurs kid). Kevin Joshua has been loaned from West Brom. EFL clubs are scouting the Irish leagues heavily. 7 players have signed for EFL Lg1 clubs this window. When his contract runs out in October he will be free to move and not reliant on waiting for the Jan window. It’s a gamble by Louis, but not without rationale. Correct. As above, gone out and gotten himself some competitive football and continued scoring goals. Yep, I have no issue with City releasing him. He’s behind Conway and Bell, who are both younger…and as Gary Owers said you have to watch the person below you…in this case Seb P-H. The club don’t make many mistakes and if they judge all of these others potential greater it’s the right choice. I’m just not writing off Louis Britton have a pro career in the EFL. At 21 and the type of player he is he has time. I’ve watched a fair few clips of George Hirst this summer and he’s not dissimilar to Louis in the way he plays, a bit untidy round the edges, but arms and elbows, and it’s taken him to 23 in the second half of last season to click. He’s had a few crap loans, probably based on his name and not been up to much. I hope Louis shows patience to try to get through the next 12-18 months, because the chance is still there.
  18. Billy Duffy….ace guitarist
  19. Gaffr is like The PL Fabtasy Football, but for EFL Championship. @BLReddoes a league I think?
