  1. Funny isn’t it…that was the ground where Joe felt his most unsafe. A bunch of nobhead City fans, piss-poor stewarding meant Joe said he’d never go to that one again.
  2. I read Dunphy’s book in school, was the first of its kind. The Garry Nelson diaries, Left Foot Forward and Left Foot in the Grave are excellent too.
  3. David Conn - The Beautiful Game (lots of stuff re how teams cheated or overspent) Simon Jordan - Autobiography (yes, I do recommend this)
  4. Just adding a subtlety, Palmer and Nagy are the only players we’ve let go in recent times that have resulted in a “transfer loss”, all others value in the books was £0, e.g. Diedhiou, Walsh, O’Dowda, etc when they left us. Okay, Rory Holden might’ve cost is “pence” but that’s it.
  5. I honestly do not think we will get a points deduction. The way the EFL work, they’ll have seen our 22/23 projections and had they been of concern we’d know about it. Completely prepared to eat my hat on this, but we’ve signed four players (Bajic, Wilson, Sykes and Naismith, plus re-signed Klose), and I don’t think we’d have done that with a points deduction looming. The cost base for this year will be lower than last too. We are moving the finances in the right direction.
  6. A budget is a budget, it looks as if we’ve reduced it overall (again). Budgets have flex in them, might spend a bit more in one area, to recoup it in another. I don’t see anything wrong with what Graham has stated.
  7. He means overall (all the ins and outs) not just the loans. FWIW I think Pearson, Gould and Tinnion are working well as a team. The summer window has a month and a half to run yet, that’s a long time. I know (from someone on here) that at least one player of the “summer of 23” OOC players is in negotiations re extending their time here. The club don’t play out those discussions in the media in the main. We know Massengo and Semenyo have been offered deals. From memory (according to another poster) Pring’s last contract took a few months to go from being “done” to being officially announced. Some players, the ones who as fans we think might need to accept a paycut, are gonna leave it as long as possible if that’s the case….they’re hardly gonna rush into it.
  8. Yes. Ta, was checking how multi-entries worked, forgot to set it back.
  9. Just another view of the above:
  10. The last update we had from Nige was - paraphrased the scan wasn’t as bad as we though, hoping he won’t miss the start of the season but I didn’t take that to be hed be ready for Hull, more that he wouldn’t be out for the first two months. Woukd be good to get an update.
  11. They may know the theory of playing against an opposition box, but executing it is a different matter. Made more difficult because Jephcott did just play RHS and Azaz LHS of the “box”….Jephcott often overloaded further in Azaz’s space, which makes it even harder. Ultimately I think Vyner should should’ve stepped into an advanced marking role on Azaz, he was the more fixed position of the two. He didn’t need to protect Tanner against Miller, because had he negated Azaz’s space, Tanner can go tighter to Miller. Id have liked to have thought Klose would’ve sorted that, but I think he was having his own battles with Hardie who gave him an uncomfortable afternoon, partly because we didn’t get a good grip in front of him. Lots of little things not quite right to join together to cause us probs. Ultimately they didn’t sort it out….and although I don’t by any stretch think Zak is crap, it’s probably another example of why at RCB3 he isn’t quite good enough. That’s not me trying to scapegoat him, just that he hasn’t kicked on from the start of 20/21 season, where he was showing signs of being okay at this level…I think he has regressed a bit. We are definitely gonna play down the flanks this season. That’s the intention imho…but if teams station defenders wide to counter it, then we then create more room for the likes of Weimann. Yeah, ‘twas me…meant Euell. Should I say “my bad”?
  12. Not sure Andy King did much to support Han-Noah today (although I thought they were good together v Cheltenham). I thought Han had a good game today. Also, if you want Andi Weimann’s dynamism playing in the hole, then you have to take the downsides that go with it. It’s not as black and white as that, but you get the gist. I said to Harry at h-t that I don’t think our back three coped that well with Azaz and Jephcott (in particular) playing withdrawn from Hardie. They played a 3421 “box” a bit like Coventry do, and they create overloads centrally. It meant a CB was spare (my pet hate with a back 3 against a one striker attack). Interestingly, Curtis Fleming made the exact point after the game, and says it was a good learning experience and they now know what to do if other teams do that. Really Vyner (more than Atkinson) should’ve pushed into midfield to give Han and Kingy some help. Ultimately this is what pre-season is about.
  13. Bell got to play as a 10 today, so managed to find a bit of space that Conway wasn’t afforded playing back to goal. Tommy didn’t have his best game on the ball, but worked tirelessly to press. Bell unlucky to be offside after a good interchange with Wells. Good early pass of course for the goal too.
  14. Has he been in a hole for 3 years….and no, I’m not referring to Plymouth ???
  15. Thought I’d track how many matches they miss too. When the season gets going I’ll filter out pre-season games, but just in there at the mo’ to test my formulas! I’ve added “unavailable” too, so things like international break and stuff like that can be factored in. I’ll base it on official club news where possible.
  16. Rotherham on a free transfer. Good coup for Plymouth, but history suggests at 26 he’s at his level though in Lg1. Clark didn’t come on…?????? (Or is that a whoosh) There are some things to read into friendlies, but not necessarily result or performance. Unless all the players that missed today through injury or test (Kalas, Semenyo, Naismith, James, Williams and Scott, etc) are all unavailable for Hull City (a) that will be nothing like the side for our opening game. So why do some need to be so critical / over-critical? Today was a good test, just what we wanted against a top eight Lg1 team, who pretty much playing their best eleven. I thought Atkinson played well, Han-Noah and Weimann too. Klose got caught a bit by Hardie’s movement, and King didn’t get on the ball enough to give Massengo more licence. Han created a few chances for others by pinching the ball high up. Tanner not got the skills to dribble past his man, so needs good early ball to use the space, he didn’t really get that from Vyner today…nor was someone like Joe Williams playing to ping him early either. But at the end of the day, 90s, 60s and 30s for the squad as they build their match fitness.
  17. Just getting minutes into everyone’s legs. The conspiracy theorists will say it’s shop window for Schumacher ???
  18. Chris Martin back in the fold, Omar Taylor-Clarke also included. James Taylor still in the squad.
  19. You lucky attendees getting to see this first hand.
  20. Omar Taylor-Clarke with squad today. James Taylor too.
  21. If you read their streaming FAQ, it says there is a fault re double charging…so I’d email them before k/o.
  22. the radio version, maybe!!,
  23. Mmmm, bizarre, he’s in my data but not pulling into my pivot. edit: sorted, had “TFR Free” unchecked. Ta.
