He scored but it was appalling from Brentford at the set piece, how he was given that much space was ridiculously bad. Yes he did well in general play for that short spell but he’s also competing with young strikers who probably have more to their all round game. No Conway and Bell and he probably gets more squad appearances at least.

I might be wrong still time on their side but not too impressed with either at moment .

Conway is more clinical then Britton, Britton scores the amount he does at U23's level because of how many more shots he takes then other players

Louis had a good spell against Brentford when coming on as a sub laid out two of their players scored a goal has never been given a chance since perhaps his face dont fit  hope hes not one that got away .

Not having a pop at the young lad. But with wells very unlikely to start Saturday it baffles me why he was taken of. I think if wells had them chances we’d of been at least 1-0 up.

Louis Britton would have put them away.

He’s 19, he’s not a terrific athlete in the Lloyd Kelly mould, so I’m not expecting great things from him at this stage.  I think he needs another 12-18 months developing physically, and let’s not forget, 24 months ago he was a nice ball-playing central midfielder.  He needs to tune his defensive instincts, he will have spent 10 years of football having defenders behind him and not being last man.

Nige has selected him, so it is right we judge the performance, and criticise the mistakes, but we should not be writing him off at 19.  He’s got 6-7 years to go before he reaches his peak years.  You don’t see many 19 year old CBs at Championship level.

Here’s a list of the youngest (red those who’ve played substantial minutes.

Bar Colwill (Huddersfield - on loan from Chelsea), they are all at struggling teams!  Bernard (Barnsley) is on loan from Man Utd

What he does is think of ideas that seem to make sense and differ from what the Manager is currently doing and then make them vague enough so that when his view turns out to be complete and utter bollocks he can counter with "I didn't suggest that".

As we all know the issue with youngsters who have the ability is that one week they are a world beater the next a panel beater. You get the odd special talent that quickly overcomes the inconsistency phase and starts to look a cut above........we all know who that is. It's been that way since the beginning of time. You also get the odd kid who totally rips up the rule book like Rooney who was doing it in the Prem at just 16 and people use the likes of him to mistakenly think "if you're good enough you're old enough" without realising what a monster of a kid you really have to be to do it at that level at that age.

This is very true Ian comes up with rediculous suggestions about playing square pegs  in round holeš then when it doesnt work retracts that he suggested it i think there is a player there in Towler just a gamble playing at the moment against burly big strikers .

I know this is a Towler thread, but its a tad unfair he is getting all the negative comments about not being ready, but is the same criticism being chucked at Benarous , because I absolutely dont see anything there to suggest he is even close to being ready.

Hes better out wide than in midfield in my opinion

    I worry for the lad.

Mad he is playing Championship football to be honest.

I will defend a Bristol lad to the hilt but Towler is way off.

The Watford (a) shambles last year was a hard watch and the fact he is near the first  team says more about the club than him.

    Needs managing carefully.

Certainly not physical enough for centre back at Championship level.

Held the ball up well and a couple of good knock on headers into good positions, I thought we definitely looked more like scoring when he came on his experience showed I think it looked to me like he had a point to prove.

Yes fair comment but still dont jump got lead in his boots

What a shocking standard of officiating, and that is, even compared to the wider Championship rota in general.

EFL need to investigate him for backhanders as soon as humanly possible. I thought Stroud was questionable at best. But Jesus H Christ.

    Farcical. Joke. Woeful.

I also remember Cashley scoring a goal on a night match at home in similar circumstances. I remember the ball bouncing in front of the other goalie and going over his head and in the net. I was in the open end with my dad and this is the end the Cash goal was scored.

Will have to look it up in the City bible to confirm who the away team was at the time.

    Hull city

Considering it was done at the level above, the football Johnson had us playing for a couple of seasons was some of the best I’ve seen us play. We went toe to toe with United AND City. We didn’t hide from them at all and played football. Neutrals all over the place were very complimentary of us - then someone ripped his team apart.

I think people forget we were usually in and around the top 6, albeit he lacked the consistency to get us over the line

Then why did the sugar daddy sack him if he was so good ? Listen to frankie fielding interview he sa8d good coach but man management was shit

Can anyone explain to me why Martin starts every game and is rarely subbed either. To me he gets worse and worse each passing game, rarely holds the ball up these days, cumbersome on the turn, so slow he offers no effective press, loses out more often than he wins aerial duels and even when he does get a flick on, it's rarely to a team mate.

Defending starts from the front and with him lumbering about he offers no pressure on defenders.

We have Wells, Conway is back fit now too. Surely one of them could start a game instead of what seems to be the all-time slowest City player I have ever seen.

    I just don't get it.

Totally agree Bas savage would be a better bet

So please tell me who HAS achieved anything at Championship level then o wise one - I must be stupid because I can’t remember anyone achieving anything at this level since AD.
    No major silverware
    No Premiership promotion

    …… no change there then!!!!

Are you forgetting the boring three to four years of sideways and backwards football he dished up and the fifty odd crap players he brought in under the sugar daddy when it would have been easier to give steve cotterell the three players he needed to strengthen the struggling championship squad at that time we are still bearing the fruits of that fifty odd dross now and Nige is struggling to get rid of  them you must have missed the Best football played in recent years in league one which the gobster couldn't wait to rip apart .
