.. and both took us closer to achieving top flight football again than any other manager since the great Alan Dicks

Perhaps SL should name a stand 'The Johnson Stand' in recognition of the services that family have given the club? ?

Closer but achieved jack shit neither of them apart from being able to talk the talk and flannel the fans .?? oh I forgot the cup match

Such a shame we rewarded those Bristol City legends for their promotion with giving them Lee Johnson as manager.

    They deserved so much more.

Edit- I say promotion. Sorry, I mean double winning league and cup championship.

Exactly he damaged the feel good factor in the dressing room and got rid one by one  not

Liked  by all at Sunderland either.

You'd imagine a lot of coaches tend to base their coaching style on the managers they've previously played under.

LJ played a lot of his career under his old man. Another who seemed to fall out with quite a few players. Wouldn't surprise me if he tries to use a few of the old GJ 'hand grenades'. Not sure how effective they are on players nowadays though, we always hear about how many now prefer the arm around the shoulder type management.

Yes agree both bully boys even with their size.

Yes i agree be nice to have a striker that actually gets in a position to going a penalty the three we got are the worst in championship  he had the pace to beat Atkinson but not the know how and most of his crosses came to nothing weinmann and Martin burnt out wells not interested unfortunately senenyo good first half then died .

Well, I think we could do with one or two ***** as you call them in our side. One thing I notice about us is that we are far too ******* nice (hence Wells still had his nose on his face after failing to square that ball to Weimann last week). That's why I like Scott and Benarous because they literally do not give a shit about opposition players and being nice to all and sundry. They seem to be there to progress, certainly at the moment anyway, rather than join the £7,500 per week "Comfy Club". Have a listen to Scott's interview yesterday, he knows we were hanging on second half and he knows he slipped below standards last Sunday, no bollocks from him, an 18 year old kid, and yet many of the older heads would have stood there and just chatted absolute "party line" bullshit if they were interviewed after that. We know that because we've heard it hundreds of times before.

Admittedly facing a CH in Atkinson for most of the game so was always going to win a foot race.

But if we are looking for a winger option in January and Derby are having a "Fire sale" then might be an affordable option.

Yeh decent but a diving **** looking to get players booked and conning refs for pens etc

Anyone doubting this move but have serious concerns about Pearson’s judgment at the same time. We really need a presence up front and we are shipping one out on loan. Clearly a long way from ready as can’t even make the bench

Maybe face dont fit heard he topped on pearsons door he called him billy big bollocks ?

Yes, I think he is a very good player. Surrounded by a lot of average or below-average ones. Personally, I'd be doing all I could to keep him.

If we lose Massengo all the energy goes out of midfield never gonna get many goals but that's always been a midfield problem.

This club lost its momentum when Cotts left.  Yes LJ did ok up until the Man Utd game when he thought he had become Jurgen Klopp.  We've been sliding backwards since then and now relegation is a real possibility, it may be to late for the club to wake up. We may well be heading back to our average position of Champ/Div 1 yo yo club.. Opportunities have been wasted and so the cycle continues.

    Brilliant so true.

They’re awful because they don’t create their own chances?

Admittedly not much creating with no wingers or fullbacks good enough to get forward but hardly any movement upfront or lack of interest.

Can someone please explain what Bakinson brings to this team?

He constantly loses the ball, never looks like he's busting a gut to get anywhere, often looks weak and feeble and is crap at marking (noting he was 2 yards from his man and didn't attempt to close on the edge of the box this afternoon for the goal).

Is this synptomatic if the issue?  Should we have renewed his contract or just paid him off to get rid? He is not creative in midfield. Seemingly we are too content to accept the status quo and are conflict avoidant. Time we had some minerals and started culling the driftwood.

I've nothing against Bakinson as a person, just frustrated by his seemingly un-engaged, inconsistent and often incoherent input.

    Thoughts?

Was crap again today first ten minutes was in another world left his man couldnt be bothered to track back cant keep all this dead wood him odowda need weading out enough is enough .

Dave they are dier we offer nothing upfront the only two chances we had was kallas and Wells when he should have squared it worst strikers in years id rather we had matty taylor and he was not championship standard thats how crap we are

Before today they’d scored 12 and assisted 7 (19 games), they are far from the problem, imho.  Service to them is a bigger issue.

Having said that it would not surprise me to see Antoine start next week.  Might be Weimann back into midfield to add some experience if James not fit.

I honestly don't think his health is good and this pressure is doing him no good at all. I wouldn't be surprised if he left soon and although I not mad on Colin, I think he could save us this season. After all, he's done it with a few teams before.

Shite football but he would keep us up till end of season.

Agree, it was always going to be a hard season, but there’s a difference between a hard season and the shambolic last 30 minutes in midweek or conceding 3 goals vs 10 men in one half.

I’m not calling for his head but it is increasingly hard to value the notion of transition above the embarrassment and humiliation that is being served up. We’re not losing, losing is one thing, we’re disorganised, weak minded and turning in inexcusable performances for which, transition or not, there is no justification.

Believing that he is the man to turn things around is increasingly tumbling toward blind faith. I say that not as someone demanding he goes, more as someone questioning why a group of players with ability, and I accept that’s my opinion and not universally shared, cannot be a structured, disciplined unit on a week to week basis.

There were real signs of promise earlier in the season, we looked like we’d found a team from the shipwreck of individuals last season. That optimism has all but evaporated. We’re on a downward spiral and it needs addressing.

He needs to ditch those two upfront ive seen more life in a bottle of Tizer

I thought he was very fair and realistic actually.
Yes, they absolutely should’ve had a penalty when HNM wrestled Ostigard down on that corner. They hit the woodwork twice and had a couple of other very good chances and could easily have scored 3 or 4 on another night.
We got pretty lucky - although we battled well - but we still kinda got away with one last night.

Did you notice on there penalty appeal with Massengo their player was pulling messengos hair as they ran in the box ?.

  17. 2 hours ago, westonred said:

Glen Murray in the studio banging on about Stoke should have had a defo penalty he doesn't notice that Massengo is having his hair pulled by the stoke player so if anything its a freekick to us

Glad someone else noticed that fair play to Han gave him it back .

I must be missing something with Wells, because a lot of people have him flagged as one of the bad apples and I've genuinely not seen it.

Of course he's on high wages with minimal resale value and might be difficult to move on, but that's a different argument entirely.

Touting to join QPR doesnt help his cause .
