  1. I was at the Stoke game. If Jay says it was a shot then someone needs to go to Specsavers!
  2. Indeed. The bloke who invented it, iirc, wanted to call it The Hobby but when patenting/copyrighting it was told he couldn't use that name. The Latin name for Hobby (as in the bird) is .....Subbuteo. He then suggested this name and got the rights. Clever bloke!
  3. The Singing Ringing Tree is a wind powered sound sculpture resembling a tree, set in the landscape of the Pennines, it is two miles (3.2 km) south of Burnley town centre. Yertiz. Courtesy of an album cover from my favourite UK Rock band....
  4. I cry very rarely. Going to bed after watching the match (I was a schoolboy back then) was one of those rare occasions.
  5. Phew! That's what I thought as well. He still went forward but didn't try to do anything overtly fanciful in the second half. The first goal reminded me of England v Poland WC qualifier in 1973. All Norman had to do was hoof it into the proverbial Row Z. He didn't and Poland scored. Whatever happened to Norman? Became one of Alan Dicks' best signings and where the word legend can be correctly used. If you don't know about the above mistake, yertiz. It is about 2 minutes after start but it's worth watching from the beginning.
  6. I thought the drinking culture had been outlawed by Nige?
  7. I've just watched Ambulance. Very enjoyable but I couldn't help but think Jake Gyllanhall is in fact LJ. Any other actors that look like former City footballers, please post!
  8. Wait till the French born player Doub Idoubidoo joins us in January. We already have a song for him!
  9. I think Dolly was threatening you with a ban as your post was in French! This would explain the misunderstanding. Mange tout Phil, Mange tout!
  10. And the Atyeo acoustics are able to change any mispronunciation to something more coherent!
  11. Well, it's 4.44pm which means that we're in danger of not losing today!
  12. Never a week goes by on OTIB when Stackridge isn't mentioned.
  13. I honestly read it as tears as in crying. Didnt make sense at the time of reading!
  14. That is the question. Never mind what William Shakespeare said about to be or not to be etc! What if we're neck and neck for automatic promotion, would the players want to leave when they can be part of something far bigger than just a transfer? Never mind girl power. Player power could prove invaluable. Imagine RG, in January, approaching Alex Scott, Tommy Conway or Antoine Semenyo or all three and offering them each a £30m transfer to a top 6 Premier club. What if they turned round and said that they want to play for BCFC next season in the top flight? Assuming that as the club are selling, each player traditionally would receive 10% of the transfer value. I said traditionally because no doubt contracts in the Championship have been tailored to factor this. If not, each player would get £3million! A sizeable signing on fee would be in place if the transfer percentage was not forthcoming. Where would Player Power stand with such personal financial immediate gain? The players could be loaned back until the end of the season so that we can get promoted. If I was one of the players involved, what a decision. Money and loan back? Stay? Go Now (original not Moody blues version)? Fortunately, I'm not one of the players!
  15. Ed Hadwin was the interviewer. What was even more telling was Alex Scott's post match interview. He suggested that the players who stayed will be here to January. Obvious but has there been a gentleman's agreement?
  16. It's an interesting topic. Let's face it Antoine has put in the graft, together with the backroom staff, to turn him into what he is worth today. We knew he had promise but he couldn't 12 months ago find that final piece needed to hit the ball into the net on a regular basis. Now he can....and then some. So, how much, if you or I was SL, of a priority is the promised land? What would be our decision if a silly, stupid amount of money was offered for Antoine? If I was SL, my decision has been made slightly easier because of Tommy Gun Conway. He scores as if he's Gary Lineker (who once said he never scored outside of the 6 yd box). £20m for AS (and Antoine gets 8-10% off that) and that should keep BCFC financially ok when contracts are renewed for existing players etc. It's a yes from me despite my anger at the majority of Europe heading into a cesspit of a winter. We can talk about £20 million for just kicking a bag of wind as if it's good value? World has gone mad....or football has.
  17. He then moved to Weston and it was curtains for him.
  18. Looks like all the bins made it to safety. The Fire and Refuse engine appliance made sure!
  19. Good to know nobody has been hurt. Any news on the bins would be appreciated!
  20. I thought it was a romanian wild dog not a husky
  21. Misheard lyrics.... Tommy used to work on the docks, But is now a superb Bristol City forward.
  22. And there was I thinking it was Nailsea and Backwell lake. The island looked so familiar.
  23. So not Thatcher's either?
  24. He also nailed it when appearing on Never Mind The Buzzcocks. He gave as good as he got. When the credits started rolling at the end, Mark Lamarr got out of his chair and went straight over to Darius to shake him by the hand.a great gesture and totally deserved.
