effective but cheap vinyl record player any suggestions
Norn Iron replied to Markman's topic in General Chat
Also, clean your vinyl. It'll make a big difference if they've been stored for a long time. There are expensive gadgets on the market. Here's the cheapest and it works brilliantly! I always use a very soft 2 inch paint brush (clean obviously)! Add a few drops of fairy liquid to one side of your vinyl. Use your brush to clean the grooves. Then shove said vinyl under a tap. The purists would say to avoid the label. I don't worry about that any more as the water will run straight off. Use your brush again to get into the grooves. Shake off the excess water and then use a very soft cloth to dry the vinyl. I use my son's saxophone cloth. Works a treat! Do same thing to other side of vinyl. It's worth playing the vinyl prior to cleaning just to see how much of a difference the cleaning makes. You'll be stunned and chuffed! -

If you have a half-decent amp and speaker system then £40 would be like owning a Golf GTi but you insist on 16" wheels! What amp have you got? -
Thanks for the info. Dan and not Toby was in the broom cupboard. It's not often I pay a tenner for the Robins TV version. When I do, I normally synchronise the video with my Robins Radio feed so I can hear Radio Bristol's commentary instead. They're presentation is vastly superior. When will the hierarchy at BCFC learn? Stop messing with the audio feed for the internet subscribers and giving us the RobinsTV based commentary. No reason was given for the BBC Bristol feed to be pulled. It could be deemed as a breach of contract but in this instance, I can't be bothered to fight it.

Thanks VFTD. If it wasn't him, who was doing the main commentary then?

Mind you when Toby forgot to help us listeners with audio descriptions, especially in the second half, you could hear whole verses of chants.....uninterrupted! Then there was that clanger when he couldn't describe one of the goals as his video feed had failed to show the live action! There was also a similar incident later on when the crowd audio mic feed stopped. Cue pure silence before Toby spoke from his broom cupboard without any effects! Put Toby in a broom cupboard, and this is what you get. Amateurish at best by those in command.

I emailed Streaming@etc to tell them we were getting the wrong feed. I received 2 emails. Here is the first. Hi, The commentary is being pulled by the game today so will be different commentary today The second was to say they were sorry I wanted to cancel my subscription! No reason given for the Robins TV feed.

It happened right in front of us. At one stage it was more like a Tango. However, when you watch the replay it could have been a lot worse with at least one of them landing on their head when falling over the advertising screen.

Thanks! My bad! If I could delete the other one, I would! I'll try....

I'd be interested to know how many otibers will be watching the first Sleedway Grand Orix this Saturday. It will be shown live on Discovery+ (Free if you subscribe to Sky Q) and Eurosport2 from 5.30pm. I'll be recording it to watch later. Who else will be watching/recording?

I wanted to say something like that BS4 but wouldn't have used the excellent word veritable. Respect! -
An amazing insight into the birth of using stats for tactics. BBC News - VHS tapes sent to the South Pacific - how football's data boom began https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61084931

Carl Shutt for me. Walsall play-off replay at their old ground. Carl was a sub and came on mid way through second half. From where I was standing it looked as if the keeper had caught the ball and landed at the feet of Carl who might well have said that if he got up he would hit him. The keeper did and Carl did too!

The news of Nigel passing away came as a real shock to me. I love watching Speedway and Nigel was the main commentator for the Grand Prixs and British fixtures. He knew his Speedway. He loved this sport. He was also a fantastic commentator.
