  1. Looking forward to comparing notes! I'm flying over for the Stoke game as it's my birthday treat. If you're going to the game, let me know!
  2. Uplands Social and Public House are fantastic beers. I've ordered the new beer of the month which is their take on the classic brown ale with an American twist. Should be here next weekend. Their Von Tap Austrian Lager is very malty. It's interesting, but not as good as the West Nuevo Californian lager. The American Stars and Stripes IPA ticks all my boxes and is up there with Public House and Uplands Social. I'm so pleased you like DM. They really have it nailed re a stout. I'll have to make it again. I have seen photos of other people having a similar ceiling experience from a DM bottle! One carb drop is spot on per 500ml. I then let my bottles rest in same place as the Pinter when brewing, namely on top of the Dishwasher in the kitchen. However, I cover the bottles with a teatowel to stop light getting in. I allow them to rest for 5 days minimum before doing another cold crash for 48 hours to kill off any secondary fermentation. Did you put the DM back into the fridge? I ask as some people have had the ceiling feeling because they didn't put the bottles back in the fridge.
  3. Stunned re the news today. My thoughts then turned to watching the 2005 Ashes Tests on Channel 4. You would hear the Batmy Army 'sledging' him when bowling. Shane would then be sent to somewhere near the boundary only to receive a rapturous welcome followed by chants which he lapped up. A Hero and villain at the same time.
  4. Ummm me, Tom! I had never heard of her until this week. My son was read Thomas the Tank and Captain Underpants amongst others that I've forgotten. I did try The Famous Five (I loved the books as a kid) but he wasn't impressed!
  5. John Atyeo. Party On The Patio. Not a footballing position yet but at least it rhymes. Great song by ZZ Top.
  6. At their height of fame, the Members were on a UK tour with Eddie and The Hot Rods. We turned up on a Monday night at The Locarno only to be turned away. Gig had been cancelled last minute. Rumour was the headliners (Eddie and HR) didn't like the Members getting better crowd reaction. Anyone else go?
  7. At least Supertramp won't sue for copyright. Sounds like a completely different tune! The Illogical Song!
  8. Red button games CAN include Sunday and any Saturday games scheduled before 3pm and after 5pm. However, the emphasis is on CAN as it isn't a definite.
  9. Fixed it for you... What a silly suggestion, go and sit on the naughty sleeper!
  10. He was out for some time with tendonitis. Takes quite a few months to get back to full fitness. Glad to read he played well.
  11. Working now. You'd think someone would monitor it. I'd do it if they asked me.
  12. I've tried everything. Glad to know it's not me.
  13. Same backing band though. Billy Bremner (not that one) guitar Nick Lowe bass Terry Williams drums (went on to take over from Pick Withers Dire Straits) Dave Edmunds guitar Collectively also known as Rockpile.
  14. R-R, you typed all that with just your index finger on your smart phone? Major respect!
  15. Good news for those of us who can't get to the Gate tomorrow night (I still haven't bought my Lear Jet as the Nigerian Prince hasn't sent me the promised money.)
  16. Noooooo! ? How long before someone prints a pun about chips?
  17. I am annoyed, very annoyed. I was there throughout our dark days. Like many and despite being on a meagre salary, I was one of many buying shares. I deliberately went to the Robins TV YouTube feed instead of listening via my Robins Listen subscription. I knew that the YouTube feed would be stopped prior to 3pm. All went well with the showing of the Geoff Merrick and Peter 'I'm a Gashead' Aitken (he admitted that in the interview). But why oh why couldn't Robins TV have shown us the Ashton Gate 8 on the pitch? As a former broadcaster and OB manager, it would've been very easy to set up. I wanted to applaud the 8 from my armchair. I wanted to be part of the celebration despite living a long way from BS3. Robins TV, what you did for the many of us was pathetic and slap in the face to those of us who were there at the time but can't attend. Instead we get....
  18. Unfortunately I can't remember where in East Bristol it was but in the early 80s, there was a chip shop that used to sell faggots, peas and gravy. We used to stop there on the way back from band practice in Bath. Absolutely gorgeous with chips. Anyone know where it might have been?
  19. I can't believe they haven't got The Wurzels to rerecord the Dolly Parton penned Whitney Houston song I Will Always Huboo.
  20. Duh! Took me a few minutes to get this. Bravo Monsieur Robbo de Rouge.
  21. Wasn't this part of the forum originally named after your colleague General Chat?
