  1. Dickie, Vyner, Williams, Pring and Sykes. Hang on to those five and there’s a solid foundation to build around.
  2. Nope - that’s probably because they’re not any Dave. However Blackburn were defensively all over the place and City took advantage of Hynam having a desperately rotten night - you can only beat what’s in front of you as they say.
  3. Good idea but depends on whether A&S police agree to it. Cheaper tickets is also a sensible suggestion but personally I have little faith in JL even thinking about that as a sweetener.
  4. I wasn’t surprised to see Eustace make changes at ht but wasn’t expecting to see 4 all at once and I’m glad that I wasn’t a Blackburn player in the changing room. I can image how toxic the atmosphere must have been.
  5. No doubt Hyam had a ‘mare of a game and was their weakest link but he wasn’t the only one - the entire defence was a shambles cruelly exposed by City’s pace.
  6. I think Appydaze comment was tongue in cheek Graham. Max had very little to do all game.
  7. It’s important not to get too high or too low after a match as Manning would say but I’ll bet that all the players and fans are really buzzing having stuck 5 past a piss poor Blackburn Rovers who were defensively shite particularly in the first 45 but you can only beat what’s in front of you. Its refreshing to leave AG with that buzz after such a game - I can’t remember the last time City scored 5 in a Championship match.
  8. That was Joe Williams for me - he was terrific and showed exactly why City signed him.
  9. The Post could certainly do with a proper sports journalist.
  10. Came over really well I thought. Articulate, relaxed demeanour, very comfortable in front of the journalists and dealing with the questions easily - not that they were particularly difficult. Let’s hope he gets on the scoresheet tonight.
  11. I can’t be bothered to listen. His pressers seem all the same to me. No doubt he mentions ‘time on the grass’…….…..
  12. ………the sister of one of the hierarchy EEOB……
  13. None of know the real reason why he was sacked - it certainly wasn’t his record which is pretty impressive. Maybe he was knocking off the wife of one of the hierarchy……..….. or maybe one the daughters?
  14. In recent history in the Championship the points needed to avoid the drop is 48/50 and City as you say were never in danger of slipping into the danger zone but some fans panic if they see City nearer the bottom three to the top six and lose all perspective……..fickle fans and all that……..…… In recent history in the Championship the points needed to avoid the drop is 48/50 and City as you say were never in danger of slipping into the danger zone but some fans panic if they see City nearer the bottom three to the top six and lose all perspective……..fickle fans and all that……..……
  15. I didn’t think it was offside and that’s not why VaR ruled the goal out. According to them it was the player ‘was blocking the keepers view’. Had it been offside that’s what VaR would have said.
  16. That wasn’t the VaR explanation Malt. The official VaR reckoned that the player ‘was blocking the keepers view’ How ridiculous is that?
  17. Oh well…..it was well over half a century ago. Memory isn’t as sharpe as once was………….
  18. You’re right Atyeo retired in 1966 - I wrongly assumed that he’d been playing in my first ever visit to AG. The reason I only have faint memories of that day is that it was a 0-0 draw against Oxford.
  19. I don’t have much recollection of Dickie Rooks but he must have been playing when I first went to AG in 1967. John Atyeo was playing as well but aged only 12 it was a few decades before I discovered who City played that day.
  20. Did anyone see the Wolves equalising goal from a cross that was ruled out by VaR because a Wolves player ‘was blocking the goalkeeper’s vision’ - wtf!? None of the pundits on MOTD could understand it. All the keeper had to do was step either way……jeez …… no wonder O’Neill was livid
  21. It’s one of the few Championship clubs forum that I haven’t viewed.
  22. We’ll certainly be a Championship club next season and I’d to see us finish as high as possible this time around and I’m certain that Manning will share that view and I’m not expecting any significant changes in the remaining 5 games. It’ll be more of the same. Everyone knows that the summer ins and outs will have a significant impact on how we’ll do next season. Manning will have plenty of time ‘on the grass’ to get his methods over and only time will tell whether he is the right man for the job.
