I think you are all missing the advantages of signing a 34 year old. No good signing a promising 24 yo who can't handle an allen key and flat pack furniture. The new stand must be due for delivery any time now and a 34 yo will have had experience in getting by when the diagrams don't match the parts. Great signing.

I’m looking forward to viewing the Stand Cam similar to what we had for the ground redevelopment and the HPC.

Surprised it’s not up and running already showing the prep work being carried out?

I agree that the issues you mention are crazy but a couple of them are not the fault of Bristol City Council. In 2012 a referendum voted to have an elected mayor in Bristol and the first incumbent was red trousers George Ferguson. The mayor, who is separate from the Lord Mayor, has dictatorial powers and can make decisions without the support of the elected councillors. The decision to move the arena the Patchway was taken by the second mayor, Marvin Rees.  Thankfully, the voters saw how crazy having an elected mayor was, and following a second referendum the post was abolished as from 2024. The Portishead railway line is also not under the control of the local councillors. However, the park and ride is operated by the council, but not wholly owned by the council. The council has been trying to amend the opening hours for several years without success. Whether this is the fault of the current councillors or the original contract is unclear

I was thinking I remembered something about this. Apart from the geography isn’t Long Ashton P&R different in that the car park is owned by a private company and they contract in the bus service whereas the ones at Bris and Shire are wholly City Council owned so if they want them open then they open, if they want to use it for event parking then they can. I’d imagine the LA one involves a conversation around a private company sensing an additional quick buck or two.

    Oh my Lord! ??

    Why?

Is the existing amount of Rolling Stock on the network not enough to ferry a some Sagheads from Patchway and Filton Abbey Wood every other Saturday? ?

Don’t worry when they realise that charter means ‘hire’ and they have to pay, I’m sure they’ll drop that idea ?

Gas head in work was giving it spuds yesterday that they hold the record for largest support at a JPT final. Anyone got any evidence to say different or that we took more in our last visit?

As per usual bending the truth like a black hole bends light. They have the highest attendance for a football league trophy final at the millennium stadium of about 59,000. Nowhere near the largest attendance at a Wembley based football league trophy final which was about 85,000.

And to add context to the 59,000 at the millennium, our attendance there v Brighton in the play offs was 65,000. You would expect that though being so close to it……….

In fact, thinking about it they are closer so should have easily taken more as the journey is easier for them.?

So Joey Barton says he and Nige wanted a pre season friendly but the police said no.

What do we think? Good decision or would it have been a bit of fun?

Is there a 3rd option that Joey bag has just made up a load of shit?

For balance, just went on their forum. They seem to think it’s linked to the construction of the new stand.

This special belter thinks that construction of a single tier temporary structure will cost £5m (because those projects don’t need planning, you spend that much when you’re leaving shortly and the stand will be constructed in two months, obvs), and despite it being a replacement for existing tents, will generate all totally “new” income.

    They’re special.

Since when has advertising been charged on the size of a structure.

I thought it was done on the size of audience that interact with the advert. Unless we’ve all got it wrong and that drawing a couple of weeks ago wasn’t to scale. Maybe this new structure will be so massive it can be seen from ******* London or something.

  7. This has to be one of us on a wind up. Despite no actual plans whatsoever, it is confirmed there will be a Nando’s in the stadium ?

Gave the Mrs and a mate a lift into town earlier as they're going to the Hippodrome and was making small talk with the Mrs' mate and turns out she works in HR and succession planning for Nandos.

Anyway turns out a site on their radar for expansion is at the Fruit Market, now I assumed this would be part of the wider development as I think they generally base themselves on monotonous retail parks, but no actually this planned site is IN THE STADIUM (it turns out in stadium sites are a big part of their expansion plans as people nowadays want more than a quick pie and Bovril), so yeh admittedly I'd never met this bird until 40 mins ago but seems quite a convoluted story to make up!

Just for the interest of balance, the last time we travelled to Plymouth in the league was also a Tuesday night 13 years ago. We took 800 for what was our 3rd away game in 7 days (as well as Palace and Reading). Incomparable really

Ah but what you don’t know is that one of them has confirmed on their match day thread that the away following tonight will be exactly half that of a Saturday. No evidence for any of that of course but I believe them. (For balance ours would have been exactly 7 / 16ths so they are definitely better than us…..they said so).

Not to be facetious, but we actually dropped three divisions, from the first to the fourth! ?

You are right though, in that they only managed two relegations in successive seasons. Amateurs.

An excellent point. Im off to extra maths lessons now ?

In the space of nine years, they’ve dropped four divisions. Ouch.

They’re not even great at being shit. We dropped four divisions in less than half the time it took them ☹️

  11. Having recently moved to Worle I’m looking to go to a few Weston matches. The only thing that has stopped me so far is that I live up by Morrisons so it’s either a 3 mile ish walk each way or the number 7 scenic bus tour via all hamlets. Does any body have any hacks in terms of quicker ways of getting there please? I could drive of course but was hoping to have a beer so that would be last option. Are there any short cuts that people know of?

Who are you to say what can and cannot be discussed?

That’s not really what it’s about is it? It’s more about how different political views can be more or less politically acceptable depending on the current popular climate. To judge the popular climate people need to make their views heard. So really the Overton Window is the opposite of what you state.

I could be really wrong of course as I’ve never come across this theory before and just read the link in your post.

I got banned for my outspoken political views Henry, nothing whatsoever to with racism or any other PC issue.

In Islam women are seen as less important than men - hence the headscarf, face veil. In some Islamic countries women are not allowed to drive and in Afghanistan not allowed to receive education.

These are facts Henry - nothing racist whatsoever, just facts.

Last time I looked, racism was a hate crime, not a “PC issue”

Maybe it’s the way you come across but calling it a PC issue sounds like you are trying to normalise it, and make it sound trivial in one go.

I don't know the price of the tickets, but if the kids go 5 times, and it's usually £15 a game, then why wouldn't the adults buy their kids season tickets for the £55 and shirt, instead of paying £75? Long term, the kids will end up supporting City and putting lots of money into the club. That's the whole point of the kids prices, to grow future fans.

Also if people wanted to go regularly in the South Stand, then buy a season ticket? It's really not a major deal, as @cidercity1987 mentions, we don't sell out each game so it's not like people can't see City.

See that is the point. I’m trying to buy a season ticket in the south stand. But cannot because it is sold out for next season. So it is a major deal, as I cannot afford to buy a season ticket anywhere else as I have saved a specific amount and that does not stretch to a Dolman Wings season ticket.

Seem to be none available as someone who wants to buy a new one. Does anyone know of this has completely sold out or are they blocked out for any reason and possibly going to get released for sale?

    Cheers

I’m in the same boat. Haven’t had one since covid but can finally afford to get one again. Amazing as that stand is half empty most of the time. Have to wait and see what’s about the day after “move your seat day” before the prices go up the day after that again.
