Apart from a few flashes of brilliance when he signed Mehmeti has looked a poor signing. After the first couple of appearances his form last season was IMHO poor. Many said wait until he has a pre-season with City. He’s had that now and so far he’s no better, possibly worse.
The same regarding a pre season was said about Cornick, again he’s no better than last season.
Pearson says he won’t make signings unless the players are better than we already have. Based on what I’ve seen so far I can’t see it with respect to Mehmeti or Cornick. Fingers crossed that they improve significantly as the season progresses.

On Cornick, I’d like to see him down the middle. He’s not the one to hog the touchline and put crosses in

  2. I don’t think he was bad as people made out, still tried to make things happen. What was poor (and this has happened since he joined) was his end product bar one good ball he takes too many touches and delays it a lot. If he works on that then we’ve got a great player on our hands

I thought we were good first half, poor second.

Norwich are a very decent side with obviously far greater squad strength than we possess.

Yeboah did very well after coming on but calls for him to start are ludicrous, he’s still raw but looks a talent.

With the exception of the back four it is very easy to predict Saturday’s side after that, Mehmeti showing exactly why he doesn’t start.

Pring will certainly come back in but on last night’s evidence only Naismith of the rest of the defence made a case to do so.

Naismith was our best player imo, thought Dickie did well but Tanner for me needs to be dropped. Poor on the ball and has started every game this season so is overdue a rest

Other than Yeboah's cameo, I thought Wells worked extremely hard - ran his socks off - for little return.

Our attacks were very easy to defend against - very one dimensional, and ineffective.

Wells had the only shot on target and he showed what we should’ve done more of. Got the shot away at the right time and a great strike, keeper made a great save

We have about 16 players in serious contention, so rotated Knight, James, Williams & Sykes.

Mehmeti was poor so had to come off.

Genuinely don’t know what else we could have done bar bring on Vyner & move Naismith forward.

Think King is only playing to give others a rest & he did ok.

Yeboah hugely encouraging, going to get a lot of sub appearances based on that.

I agree but if that’s the case then him playing 90 minutes shows we weren’t keen to win the game. He isn’t used to playing full 90’s so was understandably knackered, even the Oxford game he came off just after half time.

Seems like the young players have gotten worse over pre-season

Araoye and Knight-Lebel conceding 7 in 2 games in U21 hasn’t helped their case!

A question that I cannot see in the other pages.

I am on hols for WBA game and I have a big linked group so my already linked mate is probably taking his already linked wife but maybe his already linked son according to whether he has a game for his team.

If I send my ticket through the proper “forward ticket” method to the wife she will receive an e-mail to add to her apple wallet, but what if she doesn’t action it and leaves the e-mail sat in that state?

What if instead the son can go after all and she simply forwards the e-mail to him using mail and not via BS login. He will receive the e-Mail but will the link work as ticket not added elsewhere?

I do not understand the technology but my original transaction is cancelling the game for me and sending an e-mail with the link to add another so in my simple thinking forwarding the e-mail without actioning the link should/could/will/won’t work for the forwarded recipient?

If so then in theory it could be somebody completely different who does not even have a Bristol Sport account ?!

Good point, no idea if you can send it back. Do you have anyone else who you could forward the ticket to? If so, then I wouldn’t do it until you know who for certain is going no matter how late the call would be

    Agreed. And “much better”? Really?

I think Max is good but he’s not Bentley standard; not yet at least.

Unfair naming him like that in the public domain but I agree with Pearson. Only thing I can confidently say Bentley was better than him at is 1v1s and Max is pretty good at that himself. O’Leary is only improving aswell

  8. Thought the subs were so strange we almost didn’t really want to win the game.

    - Keeping Andy King on for 90 minutes who was absolutely blowing and very poor last night

    - Not moving Sykes out wide who is probably our best out and out winger at the moment

    - Subbing off Williams who was one of our better players

Credit to Yeboah who was lively off the bench but felt like we never really wanted to get through to the next round otherwise we’d have gone for it a bit more

Nostalgic for sure. I liked Freeman.

I do recall that Freeman was booed throughout his last performance at Ashton Gate. Never understand why fans do this to players who served us well and in this case was quintessential to a fantastic promotion season.

Because he should’ve been sent off against us last August, absolute mystery why he wasn’t

Too early in the day (especially when it's a World Cup final) for me to think about.

Lewes FC are one club who do pay their male & female players the same....

This is down to coverage of the two teams which is to be expected when the men’s are in the 7th tier of men’s football and women’s are in the 2nd. I’m sure someone can correct me but don’t think there’s any other team who have rankings like that.

I think people missed my point re goal keeper.  It isn’t sensible, or wise, imo, to have zero competition for the jersey. This is unusual for City over the years and needs rectifying

I get it but do we have to spend big on that? If there’s a free agent out there that fits the bill then no brainer but also we have Bajic and HWR that we would need to loan out one of them to do that really

    Quite right Charlie -

A creative midfielder should be first on any list.

Lad from Ireland I wouldn’t be against, I quite like Knight personally but we need competition and a different option which he could be perfect for. Saw Pritchard from Sunderland was available who does tick a lot of boxes for me

    … to get:

Goalkeeper - MOL is a liability. Gets an easy ride as he came through the youth team. In reality he is not good enough to start championship football week in week out. Distribution is shocking, put us in trouble a number of times today. A myth that be commands his box. We need an upgrade asap

Scott replacement - We all knew he would leave for big money. Plans for his replacement surely must have been under discussion months ago. Knight was not Scott’s replacement. If anything he was HNM. We cannot create anything and have three identical midfielders starting.

Striker - Bell is not a striker as shown today. Wells is three years past being anywhere near the standard needed. An option off the bench but should not be starting. Conway’s injury was bad luck but he will be out for a while.

We have a squad barely capable of competing. Pinching 1-0 wins here and there will cover over cracks, not fix them.

If paying fees are out the question then NP needs to swallow his pride and look at the loan market for quality.

His kicking isn’t the greatest but if you don’t think he commands the area well then you must be watching a different team. More than good enough as number 1 and is constantly improving imo

Surely, judging by comments of people at the game, it is not just one defeat but the lack of quality in the team assembled over three matches.

Three problems remain; two with us all summer, ie a goalkeeper and a goal scoring big centre forward.  The third could have been foreseen, the sale of Scott - need for a creative midfielder.  Am sure Nige is well aware of all this, but faces no alternative to O’Leary, and no money for the other two positions.

I would have thought SL would want to leave a legacy on the pitch before he sells.

I am baffled if you think O’Leary is a problem think he’s more than good enough as a number 1. Potentially need competition but unless Bajic/HWR go out on loan we can cope imo. Striker is a possibility but we need to create chances which for me is the biggest problem.

For all those happy clappers out there take heed , for the top brass to come out with a statement like that “ we cannot compete “ shows that they expect defeat , well us city fans have had years of that and are fed up to the back teeth with being served up SHIT week in week out , we sell the Crown Jewels and then  invest in Lidl , if you keep buying league 1 or 2 players we become a league 1 or 2 team we need quality weather from abroad or here , one minute owners say we don’t have to sell , then cop £25 million but can’t invest ? Does that make sense , let’s please get some owners in that have the FOOTBALL CLUB in the forefront of their agenda and not just buying investments in properties ie training grounds and pushing 17 year old under developed youngsters onto the pitch

Overpaying on players when we got big transfer fees is exactly why we went into problem, I’d rather us spend it wisely on players that will improve our team. We were poor today and performances need to be better but losing your mind after the first loss of the season isn't healthy. Keep the faith and hopefully we will get back to it on Friday

    FFS.

    McCrorie is a viral infection

Andi is a bruised foot (impact)

Alex is a swollen knee (likely movement)

Aymon is an ACL and long term as is Atkinson.

If it was loads of hamstrings you may have a point. This isn’t, it’s luck.

It’s also not like we’re the only team with injuries, I’ve just read Leeds have 11 first team players out
