    Championship odds 2023/24

    Outright winner

    • Leicester City - 5/1
    • Leeds United - 11/2
    • Middlesbrough - 10/1
    • Southampton - 10/1
    • Ipswich Town - 14/1
    • Norwich City - 14/1
    • Watford - 14/1
    • West Brom - 14/1
    • Stoke City - 20/1
    • Sunderland - 20/1
    • Blackburn Rovers - 25/1
    • Coventry City - 25/1
    • Millwall - 25/1
    • Sheffield Wednesday - 25/1
    • Swansea City - 25/1
    • Hull City - 28/1
    • Birmingham City - 33/1
    • Cardiff City - 33/1
    • Bristol City - 40/1
    • Plymouth Argyle - 40/1
    • Preston North End - 40/1
    • QPR - 40/1
    • Huddersfield Town - 50/1
    • Rotherham United - 80/1

I don’t normally look too much into these as they are always fairly inaccurate but some of the teams with shorter odds and are the same odds as us are absolutely laughable

Having seriously underestimated Sunderland last season, I think they will go well again this season.  They should be getting good income streams to support recruitment.  And they have a top manager, that’s my excuse, as he wasn’t there at the start of the season when I did my predictions ?.  Losing Alex Neil turned out well for them.

Theyll have Ross Stewart back I assume?

Yep had Cirkin out for the playoffs and then didn’t field a centre back for the back end of the season so would imagine they get the likes of Batth and Alese back. Aswell as them no doubt splashing some cash

    Cheers guys,

Yeh think Taylor-Clarke hasn't done a lot wrong and been ok from what I've seen of him.

Is Jamie Knight-Lebel the centre back who was injured towards the end of last season?

Yep, really unfortunate timing with our injury situation at the first team. Araoye one who looked really impressive v Bournemouth in pre season who was an injured centre back.

Elijah Morrison is being heavily raved about by Tinnion, think his time could come this season and hopefully we see more of OTC

I’m going to be honest I pinched this picture of Facebook

some big teams again next season

Looks strong but I do remember being really worried the last time all of the promoted sides stayed up and only one made the playoffs and we finished 8th. One team I really fancy this season is Sunderland even without Diallo

A good friend of mine is an Ipswich fan, He still thinks playoffs is a minimum and auto promotion is realistic.

    'Bring bring bring bring'

Thats his alarm clock waking him up..

Playoffs is definitely achievable whilst they have McKenna. Definitely shouldn’t be seen as a minimum and god help them also if McKenna gets poached mid season

Being widely reported today that their wage bill for this season was just £6m, wow.

Fair play to them for getting promoted despite that.

Says the average wage bill in the Championship is £32m, which seems a bit high to me post pandemic.

Schumacher has worked wonders, thought Lowe was a huge loss at the time but to do what he’s done competing with Ipswich and Wednesday is an excellent achievement

So now you’re gonna believe us

So now you’re gonna believe us

So now you’re gonna beliiiiiiiieve ussssssss

    Joe Bryan’s coming back

    (well maybe)

In all seriousness, if this is true and the other rumoured clubs are true, I wouldn’t see him choosing the others over us.

Shock of the century that Cardiff is in for another of our former players

It's not like Sky to talk up teams who's games they are about to show is it? :)

Are we writing off 23/24 already then? I think a lot depends on two potentially connected things in the summer. Whether we sell the crown jewels, and how we recruit. I have more faith in the latter than I have had since the days of Terry Cooper, the options we can go for are obviously dependant on the former.

9 points off and we still have to play the top 3, I think we’ve left it too late. No reason why we can’t go for top half though which I’d be happy with

  9. Thought Huddersfield were terrible when we played them both times, credit where it’s due Warnock has turned them around. Relegation battle looks very interesting now, we interestingly finish the season against QPR

@Charlie BCFC not quite sure you understood my point

The players you have mentioned would all be in the starting 11. My comments were for the players outside of that obvious 11, none of which would fall into the "plenty of Prem experience" category.

Very few of them in fact getting any minutes at all in the Prem. Hence why Scott should be viewed as being worthy of a call up to the 26 in my opinion.

Oh don’t get me wrong he would be a very worthy call up but I’m similarly not bothered because he wouldn’t get in the best 11. If you look at the squad Jones and Palmer I believe both have premier league winners medals, not sure if McAtee got enough appearances last season for one aswell? Likes of Aarons, Johnson, Colwill, Thomas, Ramsey, Jones, Skipp, Elliott, Smith-Rowe and Palmer have all had a lot of prem appearances and a few more of those have made plenty of appearances abroad.

I think it’s a good squad, although the France squad I saw is certainly a bit better!

Thought there might be a chance that AS hit the squad today but not involved. Looking at the midfielders there, you’d argue performing better than McAtee and Doyle at this level, and two of those from prem clubs (Garner and Jones) haven’t really got huge game time this season.

Likely staying with the U20s due to the World Cup this summer in part I’d guess, but feels a touch unlucky.

He’s certainly performing better than I’d say atleast 4 of those midfielders but he’d get more game time with the U20 which would only improve his progression. Also that U20 squad is largely the same that won the U19 Euros so does make sense

Whilst Rico Lewis is going to be some footballer, and was absolutely superb down the gate, that has to be one of the weakest U21 squads for a long time.

Outside of an obvious first 11, the rest of the squad depth involves players with barely any game time at all this season.

Disagree, think it’s very strong. Lewis, Gibbs-White and Colwill all had shouts of being called up to the seniors with Smith-Rowe called up in the past. Balogun only two goals off Mbappe in the Ligue 1 scoring charts (4 more than Messi), midfield is very strong even without Scott and plenty of prem experience aswell as players in form

Don't think it's any coincidence that our attacking has dropped off since Naismith has been out. Same thing happened when he was injured prior to World Cup.

Completely agree, even when Williams was in midfield we got by but creating chances in open play was a huge problem. As much as I think King can do a job, giving him 4 starts in 14 games is a huge ask

His “recent standards” include a spill at Preston and being beaten tamely at his near post against Cardiff. So I’m not sure you can frame it as an issue exclusive to today.

I was happy enough for Max to be our number one, but I’m starting to worry. The error rate is concerning.

Being beaten tamely at his near post v Cardiff is very harsh not just on Max but the goal scorer. Very good strike drilled on the floor

Shambles from him. Worst thing of the evening.

There are two numbers put up on the board. Match them to the sheet in your hand and read the names. If you’re not sure which team it is, wait until someone moves.

I’ve tried giving him a chance and seeing why he might still be in a job. I can just about take cringey stuff he does before the game and at half time but the fact of the matter is he’s got zero connection to the fans and this is not the first time he’s got subs/teams wrong. Time to move him on
