  1. 7 in 20 this season, and I think he’ll admit himself he’s had some off games. If he’s going a little under 1 in 2, and that’s him ‘off’… yea I’d probably keep our hands on this one!

21 years old and 20 City goals to his name by the way!

Thats a good point Dave and the reason why we need 1 or 2 "clever" players in the final 3rd.

Cundle would be a good addition and i still feel we could do with some genuine pace too.

If Manning is able to bring a couple in, then i really do think we are moving in the right direction.

I definitely like the direction we’re moving in under Manning, I feel like we could be on to something good. Which made Brum and Millwall all the more upsetting.

If we can find the formula to play and score against low-block teams, be that tactics, confidence or new personnel, I think we’re the best bet we’ve been for a play-off spot since mid LJ. But if we can’t, I think we continue to fall short. Comfy mid-table still, no relegation danger, but not quite a promotion contender.

  3. Emotions a bit mixed for me after that. We played very well and got the replay, but when we equalised we were well on course to go and do them today. And after Brum and Millwall, I really coulda done with seeing us win!

No new knocks, about 7 for West Ham mind!

  4. Am I the only one who thought/hoped with only two fit wingers we’d change shape and give Tommy a strike partner? Well we haven’t, Bell and Mehmeti start on the flanks in Sykes absence. West Ham have gone strong too, which makes me a little nervous!

No new returns and we name one less player rather than replace Sykes with a youngster on the bench.

  5. They better do something serious against West Ham after that crock of shite!

Naturally, we got a player back, so the football God’s took one. An important one too in Sykes. Vyner was also hobbling late but I’ll leave him off for now.

Happy New Year Gav, and Many Thanks for all your hard work this past twelve months and the many months before that.

    Your input is much appreciated.

Happy new year Phil, my pleasure re this thread. Keeps me out of trouble!

King is fit and returns to the bench at Yeboah’s expense. Experienced cover for the midfield and maybe even Centre-half roles if required. Otherwise, unchanged 20. COYR.

  7. It’s my ‘Christmas day’ today since family were working the 25th, hence no pre match update today. But no headlines, same 20 players as Watford away.

Sadly no Christmas gift from City for me, big physical teams in a low block remain our kryptonite for now. A little frustrating to beat good teams then play poorly at a bad one, but 10 points from 4 means it’s hard to be too upset.

No new knocks that I saw!

    I think so too.

As for others: Wells is on 33, Conway 19, Sykes 11, and Bell is on 10.

I'd say it's fairly unlikely that anyone gets to 50 again soon.

Wells might, but time and contract status is against him.

Sykes is a great player but he's rarely going to have a 10+ goal season so he's looking at needing another 4 seasons or so to get to 50.

With Conway and Bell they are young enough that there's a conflict. If they have the kind of season where they score so many that they quickly close in on 50...then they'll be sold.

Realistically the type of player that does this for us in the modern game is a Weimann or a Diedhiou. They join us as established, slightly older players, and the score between 5 and 15 a season. Not good enough to attract buyers, not bad enough for us to get rid.

All pretty on the money. How many did Fam end up with? He got just over 50 if I'm right, 51 or 52. Meaning Weimann can surpass him as our greatest goalscorer of the past 15 or so years.

  9. I’d need to rewatch and focus on each individual to pick, but I could genuinely say any of the back 4, Williams, Knight or either winger.

Edit to add all those I didn’t mention did well too! Everyone was a 7 or above.

The roll of honour is as well. His name's been in the 50 list for a while.

I guess as soon as he leaves or retires he’s up on the wall at the Gate. No point doing it yet or course, he’s got a few more in him.

  11. Sunderland, Hull, Watford… 9 points?! Stunning from City. And to thump Watford? We rarely get to sit back and relax watching City… I was doing just that after super Andi Weimann made it safe. Phenomenal from LM and the team, GET IN. 🔴⚪

I think all came through unscathed as a welcome bonus!
