  1. I had a lot to say last weekend as all the frustration of the NP sacking came to a head for me. But as I’ve said a million times, none of it is Manning’s fault. So I’m gonna just get behind this now.

It’s an… interesting lineup but I’ll stick my neck out and say, it feels like whenever a team sheet goes out the fans don’t like we play a blinder.

No new injuries, no new returns. COYR.

  2. It's interesting to consider League 1 in this conversation as well. We've won the 3rd division title 4 times, so when we're down there I think there's an element of 'healthy arrogance' (a Manning phrase) amongst the fanbase. A confidence that we'll get results, beat teams near the top of the table, win games when playing poorly and ultimately get promoted. The question is, how do we feign this confidence in the Championship!

I joked after Sunday I want another League 1 tour (and it was a joke, I don't fancy getting relegated!), but the joke was founded on the fact that I believe if/when we do next get relegated however many years from now, we'll be back up in a season or two maybe with an EFL Trophy on the shelf (won three previous). We have the 'know-how' down there that the clubs mentioned by OP have at this level.

  3. I think that's a really good post. I've often felt like City one day breaking the top flight is impossible (even though it factually isn't). I think about it in the same way I think about a lottery win or something, really fun to think about and dream about but not something I believe will come to fruition. I wonder if that mentality has seeped into the club over time.

I've said so many times of late (past 5 years or so), City hate being in the lead. At 0-0 we often find ourselves well in games. Sometimes we'll go behind and the freedom of that leads to us playing much nicer, braver football. But when we actually take the lead, I don't feel like we're then more likely to win as stupid as it sounds. What I said at HT against Norwich, and heard many others say, was 'we need a second, Tommy's miss will bite us'. And so it was. We led Stoke at HT and lost. Led PNE at HT and drew. Led Boro at HT 2-0 and were level on 51 minutes (but won, granted). Of course there's exceptions to the rule, but we are often near the top for 'points dropped when winning' iirc.

I think at AG and perhaps even in the minds of some staff and players, winning/being promoted feels like a dream and not a realistic aim, and the self-fulfilling prophecy does the rest.

You tell me, I’m not a bed wetter. I’d like to think 9th and above, but because everyone will use Jon Lansdowns “top 6 side” it will be that.

It's about keeping the owners honest. You can't say 'X was sacked for not being in the top 6' then pat Y on the back for finishing 9th.

A lot of this rubbish would have been avoided if the Lansdown's were more open in their reasons for dismissing Nige, professional differences. Hiding it behind a thin lie was silly, hiding it behind the 'top 6 squad' comment was doomed for failure.

Could we have the biggest bed wetting bunch of Karens in the world?

Absolutely buzzing to listen to the backtracking come the end of the season. Got god sake, pulls yourselves together.

    Listen to you all 😂

Out of curiosity GR, where will we be at the end of the season to make the 'bed wetting Karens' backtrack?

  6. I ticked 'highly unlikely' on the off chance that one of the Lansdown's looks at the results of the poll. Hopefully lots of no's will scare them into making better decisions...

But of course I will. It makes me bloody miserable at times but I'm in this now. CTID and all that.

...I should add Tins to that title too!

In the same way a Manager can lose the dressing room, your Sir have royally cocked up and entirely lost the fans and their support.

You cleared out a very popular Manager (who the vast majority felt had done a really good job in difficult circumstances), where previously the connection between the Manager, players and fans had been rebuilt, and it felt as though we had turned an important corner.

You not only made poor managerial decisions, the communication and PR linked to the whole situation was abysmal, and you made a laughing stock of OUR club.

Not only that, you have created a poison chalice of a coach role - setting Ill thought out public expectancy, a top, progressive squad, top six expectancy etc. In some ways, I really feel for Liam Manning, he is on a hiding to nothing as he has inherited a horrible situation.

As so many are disillusioned by your actions, you have killed morale, and this for me is why Ashton Gate has such a poor atmosphere since NP left.  Well done to the fans who have tried to at least given Liam a go though. Importantly, after such unpopular change, if you were to restore any semblance of confidence in you or your decision making process, it was so important to get the “new manager bounce”, but we have ended up with relegation form, boring football and some interesting team tactics  - I was bored today, the football was boring, slow and predictable - there’s no tempo and how many times today did any player at least try to get a single fan off their seat? And we took off (arguably) our two, most creative players, how strange.

I’ll continue to support and try and find the positives, but right now I continue to feel OUR club is absolutely in the hands of very amateur owners, and speaking personally, I never thought I would ever say this, but I can’t wait until your family have left OUR club.

    👏👏👏

Lansclown dictatorship is doing the impossible - making me dislike football. Never felt so disconnected.

  8. I’m struggling a bit with all this since Nige was sacked so unjustly. Hard to get behind it all. Ah well. Life isn’t just football I guess!

Vyner seemed to hobble after a sprint but played on.

  9. We didn’t need to lose that one. And to compound a painful Wednesday, our only back up centre-back and back up left-back did his hammie. Small squads are cute on paper, not something we’ll ever be able to pull off with how we accrue injuries.

Also - did Sykes pull up before being subbed? My dad saw something he thinks. Leave him off for now.

  10. No new injuries or returns tonight. Pring is suspended as we knew but we don’t replace him in the MD squad, instead naming 7 subs tonight.

A draw would be a really good result. A win would be a statement. COYR 🔴⚪
