Rose was excellent today I thought. Didn’t have much of a partner for half the round

Certainly was, steady and composed. Every bit the experienced Ryder cup player. Loved the celebration to deny them a whole point with that putt on the last hole of the day.

No idea what Koepka is doing slating Rahm. Dumb as it gets.

Yeh, what's that about? Not big follower of the game year in year out, do they have previous?

Exactly the same scenario here. Email to say the full subscription being refunded, active subs shows £3.75 to be credited.

Looks like they've just refunded everyone regardless.

Yesterday they have refunded me the full £140 for the season pass! When i check my subs, I'm still showing as subscribed for the season.

Not sure what to do now. Do i contact them back and explain or just go with it? I try to avoid the illegal streams when possible and as i don't often get to attend games i like to contribute something to the club as a supporter, i'm happy to pay for it.

Guess i'll find out if i do still have an active pass when i try and stream tomorrows game. They really have made a pigs ear of this.

International Soccer on c64 was very playable.

Better than match day on spectrum imho.

Must’ve had every Footie Manager game both Spectrum and c64 at some point.  Kevin Toms Football Manager was of course the 🐐 even with 20-min load times.

The Double on c64 was good, although whoever did the City data had loads of names wrong.  You also had to predict the attendance to ensure you had enough policing, and would get fined if you didn’t allocate enough.

Getting a PC and getting Championship Manager was many wasted hours over the years!

    My first version.

Saw something the other week on twitter where they identified the person on the box, he was an actor.  Just assumed it was their dad or someone.

Never owned a C64 it always had the better graphics but as per the era it was always a numbers game with the management games. Not surprised at all you've clearly loved the data from a young age!

Champ Manager...the next landmark and of course we all know what it's become these days. TBH I've found the last decade of FM games too involved bit probably showing my age. My last addiction to it was years back. Fantastic stuff though. Hats off to the Collyer bros.

I blame Kick Off and Sensible Soccer on the Amiga for my hatred of football games… or more precisely, I blame my brother beating me at least 8-0 every game we played.

I did like Football Manager on the Spectrum and Kevin Keegan’s Championship Manager on the N64 though.

Spent hours on Football Manager, another landmark game. Kevin Toms is still making them and released a free to play management game on iOS and Android this year.

Also spent a fair bit of time on the underrated Football Director on the Spectrum.

Shout out for Footballer of the Year as well.

What’s this Baylan skoll fella up to? Keeping his cards close to his chest it seems

I think whatever it is will probably be the biggest surprise/twist in the series.

A lot of what happens next week depends on if they are planning more than one season which they probably are.

  6. Yeh anywhere off the Gloucester Rd is very good. Budgets will vary, but it's got a bit of everything. Many independent shops, bars, pubs and restaurants. I grew up in the north end of it in Horfield and bar the blue few moving in during that time it's a great spot for all ages really. Just as easy to get central as it is to get out of the city via the motorway M4/M5 and Parkway station will get you on the mainline for the trains.

If you want something closer to Ashton Gate then perhaps Bedminster or Southville. North Street is quite similar to Glos Rd these days if a bit shorter.

If you have a big budget and still want to be close to the centre then your looking at Clifton or anywhere around the Downs. Further out Henleaze or Westbury on Trym are nice.

Places like Easton, St Pauls, St Weburghs, Montpelier are still a bit rough around the edges but are full of hipsters and have some decent places to hang out and are again quite close to the center. Somewhere like Fishponds is a middle ground and not far out.

Unless your budget is limited, you will probably want to avoid the large council estates like Lockleaze, Filton, Patchway, Knowle West, Hartcliffe, Henbury, Lawrence Weston.

I'd lived in Bristol all my life until about 6 months ago and moved to south Wales just for space, a larger more affordable house and a more pedestrian countrified lifestyle. In my 20s i lived in Horfield, Montpelier and St Pauls and wouldn't change any of that.

For nightlife, i'll leave that to some of the younger forum members as im probably twice your age now but the city center, harbourside, Park Street are still the main spots to for a night out....i think!

Hope you settle well and enjoy Bristol. I've travelled well both in this country and abroad and it's good city with lots to offer.

I think the unwritten advice from Mayor Rees's team can probably paraphrased something like this.

"Look lads, we're desperate to wave this through for you, but we can't approve it right now because, well, the "application" you've submitted is the most laughably amateurish piece of work we've ever seen. Seriously, what were you thinking?! Embarrassing! We'd be a laughing stock if we let that pass FFS! 😂

"Listen, your best bet is to withdraw the application as soon as possible, before everyone realises the stand you've already built is way bigger than the primitive image you bizarrely tried to get away with on the original form. Sorry, but you're going to have to pay someone to do a proper application, but then we'll be able to get rid of all those inconvenient objections for you. Don't worry about the local residents or the Greens, we'll 'take care' of them, if you know what I mean, and I think you do.

    You ain't seen me, right?

Me and you are about the same age then. Mine was the man on the other wing, Dave Smith. As a fellow left footer I think I was biased!

Gavin was far more skillful and tricky but i don't think i've seen a player to this day like Smith who could cross a ball whilst running at full speed as well as he did, sometimes whilst sliding on his arse! Just knock it past the full back and go, no frills just pace and determination.

Kick was so good. It also had a couple of add ons* that in hindsight were way ahead of their time, in the case of pitch types, still not copied**.

*Kick off 2 - Return to Europe. I think it was the first game that let you play as an actual real team, with real player names.

**The other one was called Final Whistle I think. It introduced pitched types, that really impacted the play - bumpy pitches were a wild ride.

Yep, great memories. It was a benchmark game.

It probably caused more fights with my brother than anything else growing up. That and Actua Soccer on PS1 with its almost surgically accurate, VAR like offsides. Many a controller thrown in fury with that one.

Things like this almost make me sorry for them. Genuinely. Imagine this -this - is the high point of your existence. Playing in a laughing stock stadium with a hated management team and players you keep as nobody else wants and this is as good as it gets???

    **** me ragged.

    Deluded...as ever.

I remember buying FIFA 96 on the OG Playstation. My first footy game was Emlyn Hughes' Soccer (or Football) on the C64, and my favourite was Kick Off on the Amiga, although I think Sensi was more popular (I only ever played the demo).

Match Day on the Spectrum for me. Loved Kick Off on the Amiga and Sensi was legendary. My cousin was in the World of Soccer version. Played for the Adelaide Blue Eagles!
