  1. He also lost his mother around this time which hit him badly His performances for years after proved that the problem was us , not Bob Taylor , and he was indeed Super
  2. Yes , I would say , ultimately the best , certainly considering what he did afterwards , for me too He looked on a different level , to us , and in the then Div One , with the most ridiculous balance and ability to change direction I’ve seen Ritchie definitely in the argument and Cheese might have become
  3. If you lived far away and looked only at results and league tables , you could probably have a good argument for that claim and I accept , it wasn’t written as a criticism And yes at times the Football wasn’t particularly entertaining and there were performances and hiccups along his time ...... I always said he wasn’t a Messiah or a coaching genius but he had a lot of top qualities that saved our bacon and set us up) and I think many fans either understood this all along the journey or hopped onboard as it went on. We won’t ever find out how far he could have taken us
  4. Well even he couldn’t make their kit any worse * He probably could actually , What would a ‘Splat Pirate’ look like
  5. As usual , an interesting post And as usual I think you are probably on the money - would make a lot of sense / explain why I’m so confused (I don’t think I’m alone) about some messages atm
  6. What I was referring to really Dave , although he was quite brilliant for us , his longevity / consistent record and return speaks for itself He hit the ball harder than %99 of City players I’ve seen Nicky Maynard another
  7. Cardiff was poor , but blimey , there were a few factors why (I was hoping for a game) Ive said I hope Friday was an outlier because of the short turnaround and the style , and quality , of opponents as a bad Combination But that doesn’t excuse the set up or selection , the lack of change in game tactically etc and the irritation between players made it look even worse Lets be honest , it was a bit of a car crash , really awful As I said , Let’s hope an outlier , but even then m for me, still questions about LM and Friday
  8. Ahh Interesting and I have to say that’s still strange Our HC LM talking , albeit a month + or so back about suitability for a loan and our DoF recently talking about minutes and integration into the first team Either JKL has since really impressed LM for talk proper first team integration , which is possible , or .... they aren’t quite on the same page ....which would be strange , and a niggling concern
  9. Didn’t embarrass ourselves though , which forget the score line , to be quite honest , we did on Friday
  10. I’m not sure about ‘lots’ or even many If you are talking about centre forwards he’s right in the mix IMO Hold up play and work away from goal was ok/decent , reasonably physical and opponents knew he’d been playing , but he was a very good goal scorer and notably a scorer of every type of goal , six yard slide in’s , with his head , from 25 yards , off the floor or on the volley If he lacked anything much it was the zip of pace , he lacked any real pace , that would have taken him to another level. But as an all round centre forward , takes some beating His record speaks for itself
  11. I am not over perturbed what style we play (Have my preferences) as long as it’s effective But the reason why the ‘Front Football’ thing is an issue and a bit of a concern , is That this is what Tinnion repeatedly quotes as our ethos /. Plan , or an element of the plan and unless we’ve had a U turn on this he is , or seems to looking at recruitment plans this way He's said it repeatedly over the last 18 months and very recently - Either him or JL clearly told exactly that , and this was what they wanted from a HC , to Jonathan Pearce before he took the commentary seat for the West Ham game ! * From what I’ve witnessed to date I actually would have expected Tinnion to be saying by now ‘We are moving now towards possession and control of games and our recruitment will reflect that as we move forward ‘ Its a major change of playing ethos (And hence recruitment) IMO and would highlight what a major decision it was or should have been to sack NP and replace somebody completely different I many respects and ideas. But what would be worse is a complete mix and mess of ideas and views We’ve turned left , and now need to follow Manning (And whoever follows him) with the changed plan , and importantly in recruitment
  12. From experience - try combine it with the group games and apply for some tickets in NY , and hope to get lucky catching England but more importantly, if you haven’t managed to do it before , you get to see a World a cup match live anyway , - something really special IMO - The buzz and colour has an extra something and as a bonus you may be lucky to catch a juicy game , England or not
  13. If this is Knight-Lebel , Tom (I may be off kilt here !) Thats a bit strange as - Tinnion said on Friday that he will get game time , he commented on how many times he’s been on the bench and said ‘he will be a first team player’ (or words to that effect) I don’t see him going anywhere and based on Tinnions comments expect to see him have first team minutes at least , before the end of the season
  14. It’s a hard one to ignore or write off WSM but I’m hanging on to it hopefully being an outlier , with the short turnaround and opponents in Leeds a really bad combination. Even then , there was some extra concerns and I’m now looking at how we react The Forest game May skew that somewhat as I expect players , maybe understandably finding some extra puff and drive It’s The next few league games are an important phase in resetting a marker , in , at least performance
  15. When you pointed this out .... the silence and spluttering was priceless , and long overdue Brilliant
  16. Seems an obvious wing back to me Tom Chuck him in ! Hes a runner ? (Source The Sage) - what else is there to consider
  17. ‘Head on a stick’ is what I heard
  18. Agreed , affective is good , whichever way ! But it does concern me that they (JL / BT - LM) aren’t completely on the same page
  19. Agree , and as I’ve said before , we’ve headhunted him , identified him as our way forward and so back him and including I’d like to see him having a major influence and say in recruitment
  20. Top Man Of interest and value to a lot of us I would think Thanks for putting the time in to compose it
  21. God knows what Tinnions idea of front foot football (He used to align it with ‘runners’ and pace , two thiings I don’t see as priorities in a LM player But do you see us , playing , what you regard as ‘Front Foot Football’ now , or , in the future under LM ? I don’t
  22. We weren’t getting in the play off picture with or without a cup run Monkeh Be glad for the extra £££ and a bit of feel good !
  23. Have you seen the latest FBC pod M ? @TomSutton gives an excellent overview of the up and coming age groups and that the next really talented group are younger 16/17 Whether this is the batch BT has , several times referred to , we are obviously not sure but it’s worth listening to Tom’s overview and explanation -
  24. The TC , You see , I think it’s anything but ‘ridiculous’ It’s only one subject , but , His value whether on the pitch for us whilst he’s ours and his potential value if we were looking to sell are both really important , IMO , for us as a club No one can prove whether he would have fared better ie more goals under NP (I personallybelieve he absolutely would) but I’m absolutely of the belief that playing him wide on the left or isolated without service is certainly not getting the best from him either on the pitch or in any potential valuation. He is , or should be one of our biggest assets , if not the biggest and we should be looking to maximise what he brings
