  1. You are aware that the McLaren he drove to victory isn't the best car right?
  2. That's not really true is it? Plenty of managers go in to clubs and can deliver results and success without a pre season and their own players
  3. I can't quite put my finger on it as to why attendances are up accross the board. Its interesting. As for away attendences. I always find it pointless to compare ours to other clubs. Swansea have to travel over an hour just to get out of Wales for example. Would Birmingham, Coventry and West Brom get the away attendences they do if they were located in Swansea for example? Instead of being quite central? I did once see a away attendence table that factored in all the miles fans have to travel and I believe we were quite high up on that.
  4. I think the logic of league placings is wrong. It's flawed. You could finish 7th but still be 10 points off the play offs. Would finishing 7th but 10 points off the play offs be an improvement? No because you've not been in the conversation of getting a play off spot. An improvement for me is getting to within 4/5/6 points of the play offs because then you're in that conversation. You've gone from being a team that's not competing to being a team that's competing. I can't see how anyone would think finishing further away from the play offs and competing than last season is an improvement. Because it's simply not. It's another season where we've not been in the conversation. In a season where many of us expected us to get closer to being in that conversation. Next season 62 points could get you 15th place. Would you then consider that a regression? Last season 62 points would have got us.......14th position. I'd have considered that an improvement because we would have been 7 points from the play offs. In 21/22 62 points would have got us 14th position. Each season you have to play 46 games. Anything from 68 points to 80 points can be the target to get 6th place. It changes every year. That's the problem with your logic. Your logic would only work if the points target was the same every season. If Coventry would have got 71 points this season would you have considered that an improvement from their 70 the previous season which secured them a play off place? Even tho 71 points this season wouldn't have been enough for the play offs this season? Football is a simple game and you're over complicating it. If the opposition get better, you need to improve more than they do. You can't stand still and expect success. You'll be happy for me to come back to this post in 12 months time if we get 63 points but finish 6 points off 11th?
  5. I remember my 1st beer too.
  6. He's snookered himself here.
  7. Mildly surprising? It came at a time that the majority of the fanbase was calling for him to be given a new contract. I'm sure you're trolling here so let's just leave it at that.
  8. He sacked Nigel Pearson, Curtis Fleming, Jason Euell and Dave Rennie because his mate told him that our players had become deconditioned.
  9. As Piercy said, this club has an obsession with wanting to achieve success in a 'pure way' Having experienced people in the building isn't considered pure.
  10. I think a big concern of mine, although uncomfortable to talk about, is what happens to us if we are still owned by Steve at the time he passes away. Hopefully he does go on to live for many more years but at the age of 71 it is a concern. I do wonder if Steve reducing his funding and his involvement in the running of the club is partly to prepare us for that time. He has openly spoken about succession planning in interviews before. I'm not sure Jon has the means to fund us himself.
  11. This is it. Last season I renewed being optimistic that the reset was over and that we could and should then push forward. I was optimistic going into the season but it ended up being a very long season where it felt like a chore attending at times. This renewal period is completely different. I have no optimism for next season. I simply renewed to secure seats.
  12. Absolutely fantastic achievement of getting promoted to the premier league with Liam Manning giving so many academy players their debut this season.
  13. I think at the moment we are significantly weaker. King's experience leaving the building is going to be huge. I don't think James is going to stay so that's another big loss. Twine will be a loss too. Then we have question marks over Williams and Conway. Of course we have Bird to come in which excites me but we have to replace all those players and replace them with better and I think that's going to be difficult.
  14. I can only speak for myself but that conveniently timed interview from Gavin Marshall where he said "we don't really want too many more season ticket holders" is ultimately the reason I renewed.
  15. I think the biggest disappointment for me was we went into the season with an air of optimism. And then it's just turned out to be meh with a lot of bumps and some highs along the way.
  16. If this result means nothing then why does Leicester and Norwich mean something? What about all the games we struggled?
  17. Incredible job that Danny Rohl has done at Wednesday.
  18. But more points away from the play offs. Fantastic.
  19. Earlier on in the season the West Brom manager said something along the lines of us being one of the best pressing teams in the division. We then abandoned the press for a big part of the season. Yea we may be 2 or 3 players away from challenging. But so are other teams. Firstly you need to replace the players that are leaving. You then need to bring in 2 or 3 more than you're competitors do and the recruitment needs to be right.
  20. On the radio they said "Ipswich Gown have been promoted to the Premier League and there is only one man that deserves all the credit for it" and I was certain they was going to say Mark Ashton
  21. This isn't our first rodeo on this subject. Not sure why you've quoted me when it's already clear we have different views on this. For the avoidance of doubt if for example next season 68 points secures 6th place and we get 62 points, I'd consider that progression.
  22. Finished last season 10 points off the play offs. Finished this season 11 points off the play offs. Progression
  23. I was going to write this. It is just that, an excuse. It makes zero sense for anyone to suggest we was on the beach but Stoke wasn't.
  24. Bye bye blue noses. Absolutely delighted.
