From that angle it's definitely a penalty, although I'm not sure the ref can tell that from her view.

That's just a precise moment frozen though

The full movement of the arm and ball meant she could award the penalty

It's a really good decision. It felt like a good decision at the time, and has done since because... paradoxically, because I was unsighted, and because it looked marginal, i felt the Ref must have been clear and convinced it hit the hand, and it felt like the player knew this. His reaction - in the moment, and in the lack of an appeal - was the tell. Also in keeping with the ref's decisiveness at other key points - bookings especially.

I think the ref was very well-placed.

The referees view is as good as any view they are going to get from open play.

It was a good decision. Can someone post that video on the Huddersfield forum? They would still probably deny it. 😝

Real progress! Top six squad we were told! Progressive appointment….sorry a couple of scrappy results isn’t convincing me (and I include a 5.0 win in that which for me was almost as bad a performance as some of the others…gifted 5 goals and created little ourselves). Worried for next season, he will get the summer and first 10 games for me but I’m not convinced he is any better than LJ.

I do see some signs of progress with the Manning way…Sometimes.

However yesterday was rubbish and I do share your misgivings about Blackburn. They were utter nonsense all over the park. Yes we pressured them but honestly they were so garbage their manager hooked four off at ht. Everything you need to know right there.

Where we have real signs of progress is consistent clean sheets. However is that progress from the beginning of the Manning era or across the season?

Mr Manning is facing his first proper injury crisis, however the week Lansdown junior and Tinnion sacked Pearson we had seven (7) U18/U21s in the squad.

I’ll take a point at home against second bottom if I have to but I’m not down wiv the cult of Liam quite yet.

    Hopefully  will be one day!

  3. Sometimes I feel like OLearys number one fan!

If thee boy doesn’t get in the next Irish squad then there is no justice!

As for someone coming in, I think it’s inevitable he’s on the radar of ‘bigger’ clubs. Whether that amounts to a bid/bids who knows, but what I know is he has earned the respect of the players in front of him!

  6. Just been the Huddersfield forum. Unsurprisingly the reactions range from Bristol made their own luck to it smacks of corruption

Do any of the picture gurus on here have the video? (I live outside the UK and can’t access Sky)

PS Louis Carey called us Bristol today on BCTV bless him! I always figure that’s because Rovers are completely irrelevant!

In the first half when they were counter attacking and she pulled it back for a foul

Blimey I’m really having to think back.

As shocking decisions go Im really not sure it’s that bad, although I suspect the huddersfield forum remember it.

    I’ll take a look.

I guess whatever your opinion of the referee was today things do seem to work themselves out eventually. Penalty’s are a good example.  We got a 50/50 today (although I read someone in the Dolman reckoning it was nailed on) a year ago we weren’t getting nailed on pens and having softies given against us. That’s life I guess.

However I’ll call her a bitch just to check your swear filter (Mods please see the funny side) 😂

Edit: Nope I guess if we are going to get more female refs we may have to update the swearing software.

So let’s get this right it’s alright to call male refs all the names under the sun on here when they give calls against us,the minute a woman ref gives us a shocking decision she’s the best thing since sliced bread

😂 Does the swear filter not work at your end?

Which shocking decision do you refer to?

Dickie can carry it, Vyner can ping it.

Still not very sold on this back 3, think it wastes certain players and the side as s while often look less cohesive but no Vyner, Dickie, Atkinson, Naismith makes it difficult- as I dunno whether I'd trust McCrorie, Tanner, Roberts as centre backs in a back 4.

Exactly. Missing our two regular center backs hurt us as a threat

They didn’t really hurt us from set pieces or putting the ball in to the corridor of chaos. So I’m not sure to what extent we missed them defensively, although as someone said others were probably under orders to protect the back a bit more than usual. (Which they didn’t do that well from open play)

Back 3/4/5 usually depends on possession (one game we looked like a back six and I’ve noted it in once or twice elsewhere). Manning ball depends on fluidity of position in possession, injuries obviously don’t help.

I like McCrorie as he likes a tackle, Robert’s has looked effective recently and Tanner has had a good season.

Not sure what next season will bring but today was a bit of a free hit to try something, while nursing an untried defensive unit. But didn’t really do anything different except be a bit crap! Wells and Mehmeti are nailed on subs and we got what is familiar.

Mbude must have more splinters than Engval. (Was he even on the bench today?)

Without making this all about me, I left after 75 because a) I was bored out my brain and b) it was bloody painful to watch!

    Part timer! 😂

The south stand was a sea of empty seats, at least you showed up.

It was painful! The only thing missing was a Mexican Wave not easy with all those gaps mind you.

Still me n the dog watched the entire 101 minutes in the living room.

My behaviours were good. I had half an hour on the grass before the game, (not that I can find much grass here in Greece), but I was bored shirtless. Another game I've watched and rather be cooking the dinner. If you tolerate this then blah blah blah.

Luckily I was watching overseas too!

The first thing I thought was that was as much of an Inodus than an exodus.

It was garbage. I used three or maybe even four utters in an earlier post but to not get into a conversation of levels of awful I’ll reduce it to a mere utter rubbish. I can’t remember a shot until the Peno!

I take your point completely about tolerance of dross. But that seems to be where some are.

Yes we were poor today, but not as bad as your post suggests.  Playing without any centre halves is always likely to be interesting and I’d have taken a point as soon as I saw the lineup.  It was clear that we were being protective of the back line, which was hardly surprising.  Yes, of course we missed Vyner, but we got a point which we probably just about deserved.

We didn’t compete very well in the middle of the park they kept going through us and we created nothing.

As I suggested our attacking options were actually lessened by not having Vyner hitting passes and no Dickie from set pieces but I would expect a shot worth it’s name.

But perhaps I expect more than I should as you imply.

I’m a season ticket holder and see most home games. To you all I understand that you have your reasons for leaving but loads more than usual today. It was s**t for sure at times but was just disappointing to see sooo many today.

I think half the South Stand went home before 3 O’clock

I don’t get why people don’t like it when someone expresses an opinion on a forum?

Now I do sometimes think that myself. Although free speech works all ways

That was utter utter uttter utter garbage and to be frank so much of it has had to have effected season ticket sales, otherwise we would be hearing about it.

Im pretty sure I will renew my two but have held off. But that didn’t help. However what was obvious to me was how much we miss Vyner pinging diagonals.

She is clearly no better or worse than most referees but people like to push agendas nowadays,if the ref was Dave from Dundee then the OP wouldn’t be starting a thread

Most weeks there is a ref thread isn’t there and if not plenty of opinion or am I imagining that?

I am not sure at @BS3_RED comes across as having an agenda?

I thought she was decent, got most of the calls correct and added extra injury time for the time wasting. The Peno could have gone either way but she had no hesitation.

I heard Dave from Dundee had a stormer too!

Upside is we have some momentum going into the last four and hopefully next season.
