  1. He would have been consistently in our side if he had much else
  2. No Dave.! Don’t hide too well either. The issue with HNM is he has undoubted good close control. He has nice little drag backs and is good at getting between the opposition and the ball (Now make the comparison with Scott who has all of that and a million other aspects to his game) HNM has not developed other aspects of his game to any extent since he got in the first team. Is that due to the club or due to the player, I don’t know, but he became a bigger and bigger liability as he wasn’t great at much of the team aspects of the game, including passing, shooting, tracking, defending, clearing (how many shanked clearances were there…my god) and pretty much anything other than having the ball at or near his feet. The bloke up the thread asked why some clubs may be interested, no fee of course, but he does have undoubted ability that some will hope to develop into a very good team player. We will see but City didn’t. The boy knew he wasn’t moving forward and the last year is now history. Mr Pearson didn’t want him for our first team for a number of reasons the contract thing just being one aspect. I hope the kid goes on to be a world beater, but he stalled here in the end and it’s on others to get the player out of him!!
  3. Cheap and worth a punt as he may develop into a top team player rather than a show pony.
  4. ?? it would really get on my wick. I know many people think he has great ability and I think he does too. If he was a competitor in a keepy uppy competition or any kind of close control exhibition you would really appreciate his range!
  5. That’s very rough. I remember everything at the time, you can hypothesize over who he’s talking about, but it’s fairly obvious in view of the time line. However players are treated as commodities now more than ever. You just have to look at the hype around buying and selling of certain individuals. This player is a top individual and certainly was a very good player and was paid accordingly as a commodity Unfortunately few have to go through this kind of turmoil in their 20s under that kind of pressure at home and a promotion push, where you are expected to be the difference by your management, who themselves were under huge pressure. Good luck to the fella!
  6. Yup. 48p a minute at peak IIRC! I suppose reading Raggy responses is cheaper!
  7. I love closed season on here. People being all hissy with each other for no particular reason, on multiple threads.
  8. To be fair Pearson has mentioned it, in the context that between our midfield we don’t get enough goals. It’s the truth. Individuals will weigh in to a greater or lesser degree from midfield, however as a unit they have to get some. Scott at 19 gets something of a pass as so much pivots from him deep however Williams James Naysmith et al are all good players but all know they need to get more between them. It is the difference between to ten and top six.
  9. Well it does a bit. The quality of any player particularly in midfield is going to be judged on a number of levels and issues. Goals is an incorporating factor. Hence the criticism on here by a few numpties of a 19 year old phenomenon!
  10. The woman was a true ledge. The fact we still talk about her supports that! To the post before I can remember her talking about Andy Llew more than once in the club shop/portacabin. Big fan of Andy was Beryl. Bless her!
  11. Perfect those in the Mid West can tune in straight after George Stephenopolous.
  12. May or may not be true. But either way it does underline the point! Times have changed people have moved on and have in general made football a more sane experience. But Lancastrians (among one or two other spots) appears to be stuck in a time warp.
  13. They pay up his contract. No need for a dodgy employment tribunal, that the employers lawyers will make a mockery of by delay! The only injury here is to the blokes ego!
  14. No I wasn’t. Honestly did some start singing that?
  15. Really blimey. Has anyone told Nigel Pearson that?
  16. Possibly. How much did Bournemouth spend on players O’Neil wanted?
  17. Some Man Utd fans are utter ****s unfortunately the same applies to some Liverpool fans. I give you WHO’s that lying on the runway and many other dity’s sung backward and forwards by both sets of knobs. It’s one of the reasons for the rise in popularity of Man City and most neutral’s wanting any one but these two to win anything. For our part it’s been a long time since I’ve heard Aberfan Aberfan directed at Welsh clubs! Perhaps scum baggery is on the wane around Bristol, clearly not so much in Lancashire!
  18. LJ is feeling safe right now! Allegedly!!
  19. Modern progressive coaching techniques. Quote of the week, even though we know your being facetious! Brilliant. I hope this is true. It would well and truly make my summer. .
  20. Smoking is so bad for you! I’ll have one of his gummy’s
  21. There will only be a bidding war if multiple clubs don’t meet the valuation. If two or more clubs do meet the valuation then Alex has a choice of who to go to based upon preference and/or personal terms OR say no I have a contract I am staying.
  22. John’s family lived two streets from me growing up on Bushy Hill near Guildford. There were about 500 Chelsea fans at primary school. One Bristol City fan as well RIP John! I was only chatting about you at the weekend!
  23. One or two on here think it’s out of the question. Personally I don’t. I guess we will see.
  24. I was behind the goal right in line with Gerry when he hit it! I once asked him if he handled it and he told me unequivocally no. But went on, the ball was a little under my feet (which it definitely was) so I couldn’t get much back lift. As some might remember Gerry didn’t need a lot of back lift to the point he would take free kicks and penoes without a run up, thus we were lucky it fell to him that night, starting our promotion run. For the record Gerry Gow scored the other and if I remember correctly both of their goals were from crosses that sailed over Ray Cashleys head.
