I cycled yesterday morning - went out at 8.30 and was freezing for the first few miles, i had a long top on too

on a seperate note for those local

to Yate, j went to Cromhall quarry swimming today, it was absolutely brilliant, i had my wetsuit on but plenty didn’t. Really recommend if you like swimming

I really want to enjoy Cromhall as I'm not too far away. Might need some crawl lessons before I do though. What's it like in the colder months?

Proper cold this morning when I went out at 6am. Very tempted to bust out the long sleeves but luckily the sun came along shortly and seemed to keep me okay.

Yeah that time is coming. This godforsaken country...

I don't personally, if your immune system is weak running can make it worse in some cases.

I don't generally, but I do worry about inactivity affecting fitness. After two days rest I settled on a 75% effort 12m cycle yesterday and certainly didn't cure my cold!

  4. What a missile. I'd forgotten that Whyte was fighting last night. Boxing's cruel isn't it. Whyte's been waiting for years as mandatory and finally when the pressure is on Fury to honour that, Povetkin lands a missile.

I'm guessing Fury can soon focus on Wilder and Joshua and Whyte has to re-match Pov and wait in line for another year or two.

Been forced to take a bit of a break from weight training due to injury so back to more cardio.

Longest run in about 15 months this morning at 9 miles, the last mile or two was pretty hellish, just not used to that distance.

Great distance, although don't push too far too fast bro

Hmm, Twerton Park. That name rings a bell, and a memory of Ronnie Sinclair desperately sprawling on the ground. Hope that is not an omen. Wonder why the SGS campus is being ditched, as it was a good playing surface and the facilities were upgraded a couple of years ago. Maybe the charging for car parking became a big problem when it came in, or perhaps the use of the Arriva car park has been withdrawn. Interestingly, the site encourages on-street parking around the ground. I assume the girls will continue to play on Sundays primarily and won't clash with Bath.

Either way, it will be a shame not to be there any more as there are plenty of great memories from it - must be well over a decade's worth now!

Still, it does open up a fresh 'market' and maybe a spur for greater achievement. Could it be the springboard for glory?  :fingerscrossed:

It's a shame because I'd like to go and watch them, but that depends on Covid factors too.

then 90 minutes of football training

    and a round of golf!

    47.3k steps ?

6 weeks til my ultra marathon and time on the legs is looking good, and feeling less painful than I thought it might

    Incredible activity levels!

With the pools closed I've had to do some running over the past few months.

God must've realised pretty quickly he had created something inherently evil when he allowed humans to be able to run. He must've quickly passed all responsibility to the devil, who then presumably realised how horrendous running was, and flogged it in a bargain bin to Satan.

With nowhere to turn Satan must've lucked out and blamed it all on a consortium of Hitler, Mussolini and Pol Pot. Then, evil itself stepped in and claimed all responsibility.

My knees, shins and feet are in ruin. Running has no redeeming features whatsoever, and you are all masochists.

Sounds to me like you want to get yourself on Strava and become the 29th member of our running club :clapping:

I never check the non-football thread so only just realised this was a thing. Great to see so many City supporting runners!

I run mountain ultras with a preference of 100 miles and up.

So far I’ve run on every continent except Antarctica. There is a 100km race there that I’m planning to do one day but last time I checked the entry fee was 18,900USD which I can’t really justify right now.

Races I’ve competed in to-date include: The North Face 100Km (now Ultra-Trail Australia) x3, Great North Walk 100 Miles x2, Northburn NZ 100 miles, Ultra Trail de Mont Blanc 100 miles x2, Ultra Trail Mount Fuji 100 miles, Everest Trail Race 100 miles stage race, Comrades, Diagonale de Fous 100 miles, Ultra Fiord Patagonia 100 miles, Fat Dog Canada 120 miles.

This year I was meant to run Northburn again and the Tahoe 200 mile race but Northburn got cancelled and, while I believe Tahoe is still on, the cost of flying post-Covid - and the necessary quarantine to and from Australia - has now made it unfeasible for me.

Despite Antarctica, the only real dream race I have is the Hardrock 100 over in Colorado. I’ve qualified for for the past seven years but haven’t been lucky in the entry lottery.

Age and a two year old kid means I’ve recently started Zone 2 training (as opposed to my usual technique of just running a high volume at high speed) and it’s proving to be one of the most infuriating things I’ve ever done. Any tips, tricks and advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers!

Would have preferred Watkins wide right to Weimann tonight.

Thought O'Dowda was okay, but Paterson really looked to add some creativity on that side when he came on.

So maybe Pato and Watkins on wings would have been better.

And they both run around a lot so not really missing that if we left out Callum and Weimann

When you say O'Dowda was okay, you're right, but he's rarely better than okay because he seldom has end product. He can win a few corners but you need more than that.

New area of internet to discuss running - and not on a Facebook group with some weirder people at times...

    Welcome Tommy, number 25.

Same to Rob, our 26th runner.

    Boom.

News from Holland, government set to approve starting date for the Eredivisie, top league, on September 11. This will follow the UEFA Nations League international fixture round. Crowds will be permitted with a maximum crowd of one third capacity. Chanting and singing will not be permitted to reduce risk. French government have given the green light for crowds of up to 5,000.

The direction of travel is clear. The message was previously no large crowds before a vaccine is available to the wider public. Don’t expect any early announcement but the English authorities will closely monitor the plans of other European nations.

No chanting? What have they been smoking to think that's going to be respected?

  14. Welcome Matt to the OTIB running club. Wear the number 24 with pride!

24 of us! This is getting out of hand. It won't be long before we're listed on interpol as a dangerous cult...
