  1. And if they have started or do start building it without consent, I’d imagine that will royally piss of the council.
  2. Dazed and Confused……Led Zeppelin
  3. Me too…..still remember the song that introduced it! And......."little weed" ?
  4. Apparently not that strong….? (I know what you mean!)
  5. It’s hard to keep up with his bans to be honest. I think he had 4 last season. One was for walking into the ladies claiming to be transgender…….best not get started on that here!
  6. I think they feel that “We’re Bristol Rovers. We want to build a stand” should suffice.
  7. I can’t help with the ‘how to’ and, like you, haven’t seen the promised ‘further details’ But the existing FAQs are clear about the need for the friend to have a Bristol Sport account, a ‘ticketing account’ (whatever that is), and a link with your account. So I suppose that, if you haven’t already done it, you could at least get that bit set up ready.
  8. As Tom said earlier…..always someone else’s fault. Always the victim.
  9. Spirit on the Water…..Bob Dylan
  10. Exactly: they’re going to have to invest in a huge number of balls!
  11. I haven’t expressed a view on Farage or those events. That’s for elsewhere. I’ve simply posted a quote that’s appeared elsewhere today that seemed particularly apt for the Gas poster quoted above - and that’s relevant to this thread, isn’t it?
  12. Could anyone list a pro football club that’s got planning consent for a new stand in less than two months? Legend indeed. There’s a post in the politics forum this morning (I know some people don’t like going there!) describing how Nigel Farage is adept at “turning utter entitlement into victimhood”. That could have been written for this knob too!
  13. Yes, he has. I think Ashton Vale was actually one of the examples that was used nationally when the case was made for those changes. As you say, there are still circumstances where ‘community assets’ can be bought out - village pubs is another example. But the nonsense of Ashton Vale wouldn’t happen now.
  14. And in the meantime, if we all go up there and walk our dogs on the site, by then someone can claim it’s a village green.
  15. That’s not the reality of how it works though, is it? The cost v cost savings are factored into the price of a season ticket, not into the club having more money to do something else. So, if the club have spent more on admin than they expected then the consequence next season will be either a charge for physical tickets or an additional increase in the cost of everyone’s season ticket. I’ve got no problem with people having a physical ticket if they want one. I just think they should pay the cost of that choice, not me. With the current cost of living especially I want to do all I can to keep what I spend down.
  16. Not a problem in those days though; they’d have stopped at the chip shop on the way for some lunch while the driver fixed the widgets!
  17. A logic from the Daily Express school of how inflation works!
  18. Very little when I had a look yesterday. Nothing on either the club site or their fans forums. Whether they’re aware what’s going on I’ve no idea. It’s looking like more than just Barnsley being affected now.
  19. Really? I thought they'd all gone out this week.
  20. And it's all about opinions. It's just that some opinions are well balanced, some are bang average, and some are just shit. ??
  21. Funnily enough, I very very nearly said “…like Cole Skuse….” when I wrote that. I even started to type it and then thought no let’s not bring another controversy into it! But, yes, exactly. There was another player who did the simple, unnoticed things - and who was often very much under appreciated - just like LJ!
  22. Precisely because he did all the simple, unappreciated, unnoticed stuff. Which is where this all started. I loved Marv too. And his drives and his power were the things that did get noticed. But they complement each other. You don’t have to like one and dislike the other, it’s not a competition. Neither is as good without the other.
  23. Post of the week, SD. Could not agree more. I think the other way in which his overthinking evidenced itself was when he had too many options to choose from. The sheer number, and the fact that there seemed no coherent plan in who we bought - in terms of a style of play - became a problem. Whether that was down to him or to Ashton we’ll never know and we’ll probably always debate. But as you have said, his record as a player speaks for itself. And as a manager his record was objectively none too shabby either. For people to describe that as “shit” probably says more about the them than it does about LJ. And, absolutely: anyone who’s served the club in the way that he has, whatever you may think of his personality, style, even his achievements or underachievements - certainly doesn’t deserve that sort of vitriol.
  24. And Italy! Must admit my first thought when @Davefevs mentioned this a few days ago was that we always start 3-4 weeks earlier than everywhere else. But not this season - Euros I imagine? I’d forgotten those: evidence we love doing it, but not a great advert for doing it again! Klose was the real disappointment there. I thought he was so so good the season before.
