  1. And what were your answers to the first two?
  2. Always stick with the same starting word!!! It’s like changing lottery numbers!!! Funnily enough, the time I got it in one was with GRATE. As @elhombrecito says, -RATE has a lot of options. Annoyingly, I got the a and the e in the right place first go, thought there’d be no chance of grate again, so went off at a complete tangent and didn’t get it at all!!
  3. I Will Survive……..Gloria Gaynor
  4. At this rate, there will be 27000 available on the day…..
  5. I suspect that he’s got his own gripes about the way he’s sometimes been played and managed. But comparing his goodbye with yours, all I’ll say is that his is generous and gracious and yours is…..well, you said it yourself really!
  6. And what’s worse, with a fridge freezer, unplugging it, leaving it for 30 seconds, then plugging it back in rarely works either!
  7. Not a chance! And anyway, nowadays you know that’s a risk. In Italy the serie A fixtures are all scheduled for a single nominal day and time that weekend with a clear message alongside of ‘date and time to be confirmed’. That then happens 5-6 weeks beforehand (usually when the TV decisions are made, but sometimes incorporating other things too) and the actual times and dates are announced. We’re not far off that at in in PL and Championship now are we? In some ways it might be fairer to do that.
  8. Ha ha!! There’s only one OS!! What’s a “potential” clash?!
  9. Seriously, don’t honestly know. It’s certainly the case that recovery times is seen as being important enough to move games - often happens over Easter. I suppose the other possibility is that the two clubs may have agreed it, but for different reasons. I suspect we’ll never know: it’s like transfer fees and injuries nowadays, clubs never seem to give any detail.
  10. Or maybe the clubs just agreed to switch. That’s what‘a reported on the OS!
  11. Ha ha….no disrespect to Preston or Norwich fans, but I’d give his eulogies a bit more time!!
  12. Yeah, agree with all that……just making the (only half serious) point that the eulogies is opposing fans isn’t always a guide!
  13. Mind you, fans of many Championship clubs also eulogised about HNM and about Fam!
  14. I discovered something else about Cat Stevens this weekend. I was talking to Italian friends and Glastonbury came up. I asked if they knew Cat Stevens, expecting not - especially the one in his 20s! In fact, one (an English teacher) knew him immediately because they used his songs regularly in English lessons in schools. They are so simple, but well constructed that they are a used as a teaching aid. And the friend in his 20s, who’s a musician, also knew him. Because when he was learning guitar he was often directed to Cat Stevens songs because the music is so simple but well constructed.
  15. Africa (is our land)…….Joshua Moses
  16. Didn’t see that coming…..the crowd as guest singer!
  17. Wasn’t she performing on another stage in her own right earlier today? Edit: Rina Sawayama. And she was on earlier.
  18. Now I’m anticipating him closing the set with a rendition of ‘always shit on the welsh side of the bridge’!!
  19. As per the earlier discussion, he’s 76. It’s not great, and the slower ones make his limitations more obvious. But I’ve seen him a couple of times in the past 10 years when you’ve barely even able to hear him a la Debbie Harry, or Diana Ross. This is better. Whether he keeps it up for 2 hrs remains to be seen! (And agree with you about the great LC. Although stick the Webb Sisters on and I could happily listen to them all night anyway!!)
  20. Elton proving me wrong when I suggested yesterday that his voice was gone! Better than I’ve heard him for years…he must have tried on his voice whatever it was he used on his hair!
  21. Cat Stevens is 74. Kept his voice......and his looks!!
