  1. Gotta love City fans sometimes! Here’s a player who’s got two Championship promotions under his belt, plus another play off season, who’s played 28 times at full international level for a decent national team…….but who’s apparently not good enough for Bristol City and a waste of money. I know football is all about opinions, but sometimes there are some relevant facts in there too.
  2. Yep, for sure, and certainly wasn’t intended to be about looking back…more about looking forward to them potentially joining up again at Coventry, and being a force to be reckoned with there. Fair points about Kalas. I’ll still miss him though - more than the other two. And (again without labouring the past) he’s been part of two Championship promotion campaigns already. I wouldn’t be at all surprised, if he does go to Coventry, that he does it again and we prove to be the exception to that impressive record.
  3. And Eric Cantona. And Carlos Tevez. But apparently not a gas player. Maybe they just view signing for the gas as community service in itself.
  4. My mind is boggling at what’s going though it…….
  5. I admire your loyalty and optimism….but 5th v 14th, I know where I’d rather be! And, yes, I know that’s before all the summer business but it’s still the last true way of measuring it. And for me the jury is still out on our summer business. And back when we had all three fit and playing, we were achieving good top half too. I think Palmer was the one never properly worked out here, but he’s found his role, and they’re playing to his strengths at Coventry. He’s doing well there. Dasilva I think we saw tail end of last season will always do a decent job. And Kalas is just a great defender - an area of weakness for Coventry last season. If Kalas went there, and they can keep them all fit, then I think they’d do a good job. And, of course, they won’t cost anything like they cost us.
  6. Basic criteria should also include “not an arsehole”. Which would rule out your No. 1 ?
  7. I assume they are talking strictly about “the Championship” which only came into being in 03-04. Plain old League1/Division2 before then. But, nevertheless, agree with your overall assessment ?
  8. Yes: I didn’t mean to suggest that it’s never an issue. Apologies if that’s how it came across. It’s a genuine issue for some elderly people, just as it can be a genuine issue for some younger people too. Maybe it’s just a sign of my own advancing years but I get very defensive when I read anything that lumps all elderly people into being unable to manage this new fangled tech ?? Like you, I don’t use my phone to pay for things - but if it came to a nudge to do so then I’d no doubt start, and maybe a bit less reluctantly than you! Partly because if you’ve got a phone anyway, and compatibility issues aside, it really is so easy to use things in the wallet.
  9. As Boris Johnson used to say…..
  10. If the choice is between a £500 phone purely to use for a digital ticket, or paying £10 for a card, then I'd have thought the choice was pretty obvious! And I don't buy the 'old uns can't do it' line. Not saying your uncle wouldn't have a problem, but my 90 year old neighbour does all her shopping on line. Seriously, I'd be happy to bung that fiver for anyone who genuinely can't (as I've already said): what I'm less happy about is bunging a fiver to those who "can't be arsed" to quote an earlier post. Figure out how to distinguish between the two and I'll be quite happy.
  11. One way to view it. The other is that you're going to be charged just the same for your kids' tickets, but you'll get £10 off what you'd otherwise have paid for yours by going digital. But of course there'll never be that level of transparency about how charges are worked out and certainly not when it comes to football finances! It's not uncommon though, is it?
  12. As you say Riaz, they are saving money by going digital. That's the point. Saving money on the admin side so that they have more money to spend on the playing side. So - OTIB - I don't want the savings from my going digital to negate the need for charging for administration, I want it to go on improving what happens on the pitch! As I've said, it doesn't bother me - quite the opposite, I'm happy for people to have the choice. I'm merely saying that in exactly the same way as you now pay a premium to buy energy other than by direct debit, in the same way as you now pay admin fees for changing insurance policies, in the same way as you now pay charges for physical tickets for other events, it's not unreasonable for the club to charge the actual cost of the choices people make. And, yes, I'd be happy for the club to waive those charges where there's a genuine need and its not a choice - but I'm not sure how they establish that given the very evident propensity of some to tell lies! Anyway, enough of that - I agree this isn't a big issue in the scheme of things - it only started it out of a curiosity about how OTIB would have aligned their answering of the questions with a post back on the first page of this thread ?
  13. Don’t know if this helps…..assuming anything 2017 on is OK then this seems to conform which older models have NFC - and by omission which don’t. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NFC-enabled_mobile_devices
  14. Ah, OK, I understand now. If you must have a piece of card/plastic then that’s fine: I just think you should pay the extra cost that involves - not me. I imagine the club are using this season to assess the situation. With the evidence that people are willing to tell porkies when they don’t really need a physical ticket then I’m sure that as @!james says a charge will come next year. It’ll be no different to the charges they’ve made in the past for providing a ticket as opposed to printing at home.
  15. I don’t understand what you mean by ‘yes it is’. Thanks though: just interested in whether the club are serious about going digital by default. Seems that they are, and just have to recognise that people will tell porkies to get round that I suppose. The latter though is why the club will be right to pass on the additional costs involved as @!james suggests above. And @Riaz - there’s the reason why: I don’t see why I should pay for that.
  16. Not what you told us on page 1 then?
  17. And what were your answers to the first two?
  18. Always stick with the same starting word!!! It’s like changing lottery numbers!!! Funnily enough, the time I got it in one was with GRATE. As @elhombrecito says, -RATE has a lot of options. Annoyingly, I got the a and the e in the right place first go, thought there’d be no chance of grate again, so went off at a complete tangent and didn’t get it at all!!
  19. I Will Survive……..Gloria Gaynor
  20. At this rate, there will be 27000 available on the day…..
  21. I suspect that he’s got his own gripes about the way he’s sometimes been played and managed. But comparing his goodbye with yours, all I’ll say is that his is generous and gracious and yours is…..well, you said it yourself really!
  22. And what’s worse, with a fridge freezer, unplugging it, leaving it for 30 seconds, then plugging it back in rarely works either!
