Felipe and Origi have risen Lazarus like from the treatment table and Greggs respectively. We’ll be playing with 10 men as Origi lumbers about miles off the pace. Other than that Nuno has thrown a curveball and is playing 3 at the back for the first time.

    Turner

Montial  - Omobamidele- Niakhate - Felipe - Toff

    Kouyate - Danilo

    MGW

    Origi - Elanga

Sounds like neither side wants to win this one

On the plus side after this sale where Tinnion has lied to the fans I am confident he won’t ever do that again, be it in 1, 2 or 18 years. If nothing else he’s a man who learns from mistakes and will  be nothing but trustworthy this point onwards.

On a broader basis, I’m also totally confident that his reshaping of the squad from Wilson’s with multiple signings and a change in style from a side that was in the playoffs can only lead to success.

I’m also looking forward to hearing those up and coming artists Craig David and Fatman Scoop on the wireless later.

Can't ever see us getting to a Championship play off final though. Lansdown out.

The Championship table needs asterisks next to the name of football clubs who benefit from parachute payments in all published league tables. In so doing, it shows that these clubs’ league position is artificially inflated by an unfair and disproportionate allocation of money, which makes an absurdity of the league, akin to performance enhancing drugs.

With this made evident, all readers will have an understanding of the inequality in the league, so it’s obvious to all, and these clubs’ successes should be judged (or tainted) accordingly.

Maybe all clubs with a billionaire owner should have an asterix next to their name as well then.

I think Menmuir and Gow were already at AG when the Ritchie brothers arrived.

It didn't work out for Menmuir, although i think he did play for the first team a couple of times. He went back to Scotland (Hearts I think), same as a couple of others at that time - Jimmy Brand (Morton I think) and another whose name I forget, both Scottish schoolboy internationals. City had a production line from Scotland in those days with Tom and Gerry (!) being the jewels in the crown.

I think City were initially after Steve as he was seen as a rising star at full back having played for Scotland schoolboys, but Tom turned out to be a legend for City and Steve went back to Scotland. He played in the Scottish cup final for Aberdeen before coming back down here and playing for Torquay and Yeovil.

Seems the production line is now the Channel Islands.

No, pretty sure they all travelled down together.

Looking at the U21 thread I saw the name Billy Milne in a team from 1973 who I vaguely remembered from those days. I seem to remember he was good but couldn't settle and went back to Scotland. I tried to look him up but there is a more famous much older player with the same name.

Anyway, I also came across this quite moving article about Ralph Milne, it's quite old so may have been posted on here before, but hopefully it's new to some.

It's quite long too, but worth persevering to the end.

The goal that is referenced is here.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but are you getting the name mixed up with Billy Menmuir? He came to City with Gerry Gow and the Ritchie brothers and was apparently better than all of them, but got homesick and went back to Scotland.

I've got a lot of issues with the club, and for that reason have been an away fan only for almost 6 years now. However something the club has got right recently is the pathway from the academy to the first team. I'd rather watch local players like Max, who may not be world beaters, than a team of Mercenaries.

Personally, I would rather watch the best players we can afford, whether they be born in Whitchurch or Timbuktu.

There and section 82. There’s definitely a lot in there who have season tickets in other parts of the South Stand.

At the Forest game there were dozens stood in the aisle between S23 and 24 at the back meaning people sat there couldn't see. Got very heated until a row of stewards came up and simply stood with them, making the situation worse. I can't understand why they didn't demand to see their ticket, to determine where they should be sat, and then hoiked them out of S23.

It’s hardly surprising when you hear of absolute selfish tossers buying a cheap kids ticket in addition to their own so they don’t have to sit next to someone.

Don't you think the hundreds stood at the back of the Dolman could be from the SS as there sure as hell ain't any empty seats in the Dolman.

I think football has moved on since the days of “another club in the bag” Johnson Snr……….:disapointed2se:

Jamie McCombe's overhead kick to win a vital game in the last minute is one of my favourite ever City memories. Sadly won't see the like again because "football has moved on"

Agreed - it should be a human right to be able to have a shit in peace, not have to endure his grating tones

Oh is that what people do in the cubicles? Always seems to be a queue for it? 😉

I found this from an Ipswich podcast online. Talks about his career (mostly about Ipswich for obvious reasons) but also covers that movie and his time with us (safe to say he didn’t think much of Denis Smith) i didn’t realise he stayed in the area for around 30 years

And didn't get flagged offside once. Boom Boom.
