I'm clearly in a minority here but, while I didn't want Pearson sacked, I do find the idea of appointing a promising coach with plenty of upside a bit exciting. It's a risk, but it's one way to potentially outperform your wage budget in this league. And if it's Manning, he also has a reputation for playing good football.

"he also has a reputation for playing good football".. The same was said for Erik ten Hag at Ajax & Steve Cotterill of Bristol City in L1.  Performing well in an inferior league doesn't count for much.

Good point - the thing that’s surprised me most about the idea of today an appointment being made is no firm rumours in the press.

Usually, we’ve known at least 24 hours before. I think that’s been the case at least since Gary Johnson.

What’s Bielsa up to these days ..

Many saying the new coach will be announced 1pm Monday

Lots on here are saying who it won’t be so they are obviously in the know.  Why don’t they just let us know who it is ??

If it is Manning  it’s really uninspiring appointment, always feels like lansdown is trying to copy other clubs, rather than actually sourcing the right man for our club,  would of taken Lampard , Jones, Beadle all over Manning personally

Yep, it shows that they couldn’t handle Pearson and just want another “yes” man

Don’t you remember the ITKers during the pandemic? I reckon a good 10 times I was promised by people whose friends brother was in the army and were going to be deployed on the streets to keep people indoors. Alas.

We were all good sheep 🐑

    Whose the options:

    Paul Simpson (Carlisle Manager)

    Keith Downing (Available post Birmingham)

    Jamie McAllister (Available post Hibs)

    John Pemberton (Available post Chesterfield)

    Tony Docherty (Dundee Manager)

    We've tried and failed with:

    Dean Holden

    Keith Millen

    Anyone else?

Now that is a depressing list 😒

I think he could be exactly what we need young and has experience, knows the young men in the game , would imagine he’d want his teams on front foot as Tinman said and plenty of contacts for the loan market

Was it Pearson or the club who were against loan signings, I don’t recall Pearson making a single loan.

Lampard might be a refreshing change as we would actually get some media attention for once. In a field of Joe average candidates it’s hard to get excited about any of them unless our wonderful owners pull an unexpected rabbit out of the hat.

But wasn’t Pearson high profile enough ?

Did he? Had an established championship team that finished in the play-offs the year previously.

Loaned in Mason Mount & Tomori - champions league level players shortly after and ended up with the same result. Losing in the play-offs.

He used his contacts at Chelsea to get some rising stars in but ended up losing in the playoff final to a pretty decent Villa team,  The Viilla team wasn't too bad though,  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_EFL_Championship_play-off_final

Nice guy, poor manager. Would be a poor decision and an expensive one too I reckon.

Did alright at Derby but was always going to use them as a stepping stone.  Same would be for us also if he came here.

Considering SL once approached Gerrard, it wouldn't surprise me if they tried for Lampard too.

Lets not forget SL also signed a very high profile England International goalkeeper David James at one point.   It would not surprise me if SL appointed Lampard and gave him some of the money made recently on transfers.

Option 5 - Win football matches.

Win games and sadly most will forget about things like corporate governance, fan communication, and principles of good management.

My plea is to please not forget about those things if by some miracle we ever find ourselves in the top 6.

Totally agree with this, something we haven't been doing very often.  It pretty simple to make people move on, win and keep winning.

Jon Lansdown probably thinks that he can get Claudio Ranieri in to finish off Nige's hard work for the second time, that's how deluded the crayon chewer and his Dad is!

I wouldn't be surprised if he's been tapping up Mark Robins

  15. Clearly major internal issues at the club. I hope the board have someone lined up or we could be down this season.  Never made it above midtable sadly with NP, 3 depressing seasons but I’m sad he’s gone.  Watching both Scott and Semenyo on weekend only shows this club is never going anywhere so better mentally for someone like NP to leave.

  16. Brilliant to watch live.. rushed back in to catch myself on tv and it had cut to ad's ?

It was hot enough stood outside waiting for them let alone the speed they were travelling at and extremely punishing with all the hills near Wotton.

I have never seen so many police motorbikes, extremely well organized.

Maguire. One of these days he'll be exposed like he has been at domestic level.

And Bellingham's wasted that deep. So are we brave or good enough to play some sort of 4-1-4-1?

But like @WolfOfWestStreet says, it's time to be winning something.

Or is this 1970 all over again - a brilliant team that wins nowt

Is Lindelof/Shaw better than Maguire at centre-back?   How has Maguire been exposed compared to every other defender in the Premiership that comes up against Man City?

I don't believe players who aren't playing for their clubs should be picked for England but regarding Maguire I do think he is a better centre-back option than both Lindelof or Shaw at Man Utd.  Even Martinez has looked rubbish this season and he is a WC winner.
