  1. Bizarre interview. Definitely said a “record attendance” maybe as you said he meant highest crowd of the season? No idea if 8500 is, he just appeared to be talking absolute bollocks. Said they were “only 5 points from the playoffs” it is actually 7, with a vastly inferior goal difference, too. His criteria for a manager seemed to be “young” yet having “won promotion to the Championship” he then appeared to imply it would also be good if they’d won promotion “higher than that”. **** knows who he thinks might be interested, the current Ipswich manager? The plans for developing the ground appeared to be to do 3 sides of it over time but he was “hoping” for loans from banks. That really sounded like it was going to happen… Bet BCC & the local residents were also delighted to hear though that “from now on” they were going to do any development “by the book” which just confirmed that they hadn’t been doing so before. Wonder if he has a nice watch?
  2. I think it has been obvious since they looked to develop the end with all the tents that they were staying put. Actually think it makes sense, the ground is in their part of the City & if they had the money there is plenty of room to develop it, but then they have to collide with reality. It is absolutely prohibitive to redevelop an existing ground & they also have nothing they can use as collateral to base any loan on. The Ashton Gate rebuild cost circa £45m & that was nearly 10 years ago, the cost of everything in that industry has skyrocketed since. They’ll end up with their new stand in 2024 & then any further significant development of their ground will mysteriously be forgotten about.
  3. Saw about an hour of the game via a live stream & agree. Sykes was doing really well completely out of position at LB, strangely he didn’t seem quite the same player on his more natural side. Young James was exactly as you say, but clearly tiring very badly in the previous 5 minutes to his substitution & simply had to come off. Knight-Lebel did fine but was put under surprisingly little pressure by Cardiff. We just didn’t have the numbers to make many different changes to the ones we did, Backwell & Nelson have never featured in a league game, Idehen was never coming on once Knight-Lebel did & all we had apart from this were 2 goalkeepers.
  4. Not saying I agree, but he’s never going to say anything else, is he? I don’t think that really covers it but would be very surprised if the club looks to explain further, though I think they should.
  5. What is the solution to that, then? We only have about 15 senior outfield players, that includes the likes of Sykes & Tanner (not exactly veterans) & we started the season knowing that Atkinson & McCrorie were long term absentees. Naismith appears to have a decent injury record prior to joining. We simply don’t have the depth to allow players like these to drop out now & then.
  6. As someone who is portrayed on here as a Nige apologist & who never criticises, I do think we are owed a fuller explanation by Dave Rennie and/or Nige. McCrorie could be considered unfortunate with an infection, we knew Rob Atkinson would be out long term with his ACL & I do worry for Benarous as after his second ACL he seemingly cannot keep fit. However beyond those 3 we do still seem to have more than our fair share of injuries & an answer of “just one of those things” isn’t sufficient.
  7. So just to be clear here then you wouldn’t have renewed Weimann before the season when he scored 22? I don’t know for a fact but I would be very surprised if King’s wage now would fund more than a single L1 player, let alone provide the money for anything more than a straight replacement. I doubt very much there are many other Championship sides who have reduced their wage bill by 40% over this period (£13m cut in real terms) & have stayed competitive..
  8. Are you allowed to pull shirts in the penalty area now then?
  9. There is never any context with some posters though, it is relentless. Cornick for instance, although his opportunities have often been from the bench would certainly have expected to score more than twice so far. That is valid criticism, posting he’s shit or a waste of money (£300k!) isn’t. Max should have done better with Ipswich’s goal (2 excellent saves afterwards) but there is now a massive pile on for the second goal, which was in my opinion not something I would expect him to save. Some are just waiting to slag off certain players, Weimann is another one now. It is rarely constructive or nuanced.
  10. It’s a bizarre claim. As one of our players said this week, we have reduced our wage bill from £30m under LJ to £17m under Pearson because the owner won’t spend any money & some on here are trying to claim like for like. Cornick replaced Chris Martin who is past his best & playing in L1, does that poster seriously think he’s the better bet now? I didn’t read many complaints when we brought Mehmeti in & FWIW, I thought he did ok today. Doesn’t fit the narrative though.
  11. @Marina's Rolls Royce How are you “confused”? Ages are factual, however much you dislike facts.
  12. Yep. Joseph James 17, Yeboah 17, Knight-Lebel 19, Bell 20, Conway 20, TGH 21, Mehmeti 22. That’s not even including Nelson 17, Backwell 20 or Idehen 21 who didn’t get on the pitch today. Not exactly ******* pensioners, are they?
  13. 100%. We have just let a goal in, who can I blame? Some on here always say Max (even like the 2nd when it is hammered past him from close range), Cornick? Usually. Vyner? No longer. Or a left field one like TGH, who has been decent. FFS. Perhaps our absent owner might like to say something, the injury situation is poor but he’s worse.
  14. It was Pearson’s but “smaller squad” certainly didn’t mean that he expected to make only one loan signing after we got £25m for Alex Scott. He didn’t want a situation where we pay the likes of Gilmartin, Watkins & Palmer not to play. The injury situation does require explanation because it is killing us, but his version of a smaller squad probably wasn’t just 17 senior professionals & a collection of U21s. We are two light.
  15. You keep sticking up for SL, pal. He still will think you’re not worth a moment of his time, like the rest of us.
  16. Let’s see. I saw the training video & he looked pretty good to me. I can’t believe we think we can try & get through until the international break with the squad we have available today.
  17. Bristolian. City fan, so is his Dad & his Grandad… Done well for the 21s but never given a chance before, he certainly gets “stuck in”, think Tommy Doc. Delighted for him & his family, if he gets on he will give everything & is probably good odds for a yellow card..
  18. He’s a wide midfielder really Noggers, right footed. Can play as a striker too.
  19. I’m not expecting us to win but we’ve let in 1 in our last 2 games, have Dickie, Pring, Sykes & presumably Roberts available. TGH & Knight is not a non existent midfield. Narrow defeat probably, but no hammering.
  20. Him or Taylor-Clarke if not Araoye. Other option appears naming two keepers on the bench. A total mess & for all my disgust at Lansdown I do think we also need a deeper explanation that “one of those things” or “ just got to deal with it” from Nige or Dave Rennie.
