Again, if you think it’s unfair then blame the board and the expectations they have set. Manning didn’t come in with the ship sinking, needing to turn things around. He came in inheriting a “top 6 squad”. He has the job of getting the squad where the board expect them to be and where Pearson was failing. There are no signs of that happening within the first four games. It’s been worse than it was before he came in! Boring, possession based football with little for fans to be excited about.

And he will probably be judge more harshly under the circumstances he came in. We had a popular manager who was building steadily and fans were patient with. The board decided it wasn’t good enough and want promotion, Manning the one being chosen by them and agreeing to take the task on. That’s just how it is. Succeed and get the fans behind him. Unfortunately after 4 games I struggle to see that happening.

I don’t want Manning gone, but I never wanted him in! Pearson should still be here. I want the board gone. Manning being unsuccessful shows the boards complete incompetence. Manning was bought in to move the club forward. He had everything in place to do so according to those who decided he was going to be our saviour. Until this happens he will get criticised by me and others.

Just started a thread about Sykes being played on the right. Would have added it to this had I seen it before posting.

Needs to be played on the right hand side. He looks completely lost on the left. Our goal today followed quickly by Conway’s chance both came from Sykes down the right hand side. Start of the second half he is back on the left and taken off for some reason not long into the second half. It was clear Bell should have come on for Weimann with Sykes moving to the right.

We seem to be able to play a decent standard of football between the 30th min and half time if we are lucky. The rest of the time is dire. There is no purpose to anything we do.

Anyone know of one? I can’t prove anything obviously, but I would say an experienced championship manager would have got us 3 points at QPR and another 3 points today. The board seeing that the grass isn’t always greener!

Haha, no, that is just a family outing! The inspiration for a 7 year old is supposed to be Sunday.

Being dragged to Bath market

I’m in two minds about going. If it was a Saturday I would have been there. We had planned on going Christmas shopping Sunday before I realised what day the game was. Right now, Christmas shopping is more appealing than sitting in the cold watching boring football.

Is that the reason for the change in management though? Why make the change and expect the same results? If it’s about slow progress, again, why make the change?

QPR = shocking (not buying this “he was only here a couple of days” rubbish, it was QPR!!!) Boro = shocking first 30 mins, threw away a 2 goal lead early in the second half (clearly no fault of Mannings with the individual mistakes) but dug in and got the win. Southampton = was always gonna be tough so hard to judge. But there was just nothing to get excited about. So far I am not seeing whatever it is that we were supposed to see from Manning. He inherited a top 6 squad. Yes I’m going to be overly critical due to the circumstances around his arrival, but his arrival happened as he was supposed to be our saviour. So far it’s been 2 and a half games of dire football. What is it about this forward thinking coach am I not getting???

He can say all the right things as much as he wants. There are only two things that will matter, performances and results.

Great prospect. Could argue he doesn’t get enough game time at Man City to warrant a place in the squad but we know that doesn’t matter with Southgate! Two points to remember though. Firstly, he wasn’t called up to begin with, he came in because of injuries. Secondly, there is nothing riding on these games so why not give him the experience.

People pay their money, they can do what they like. To some, city is a passion. To others, it’s a few hours out the house with mates and having a few beers. I can’t understanding the judgement of others when people want to leave early, leave at half time or whatever. A couple of guys who I go with have to leave at 4:45pm as its the difference between getting home by 5:30/6pm or 7/7:30pm. They are no less a fan for missing the last few minutes. Personally I prefer the drinks and social as much as the football. A mate of mine is coming to the Sunderland game on the 16th December. We are going for a few drinks before and after the game. There is a very good chance we won’t be watching much of the football in between.

Think he played on the left of a back three, completely different to CB. He has all the attributes to be a very good DM. Good engine, can pass, cross and tackle. Would much prefer him there than James.

All I can say is that I hope this “progressive football” is more… “progressive”! One game in and it’s a step back.

Mehmeti has a fresh start under Manning. As much as I was behind Pearson, the biggest criticism was not being able to get much from Mehmeti. He looked lively when he came on last week. Like with most, only surprise is TGH not starting.

There is lots of pressure on Manning but not because of the fans. It comes from the comments our board have made over the last couple of weeks. Manning has a squad capable of promotion according to them, and was the man identified by them to take us to the next level. Any level of expectation has been set well and truly by the board.
