  1. Mark Gavin was on of the first players I remember idolising when he was with us. I would have been about 8 or 9 around that time. Proper winger.
  2. Wishful thinking maybe. If there was such a time then Scott has fully kicked on where Benarous has had some serious set backs. That said I have never seen him play. I just find it hard to believe we had one Scott at our club at all, let alone two at the same time.
  3. Naismith was off balance and was no where near the ball. Didn’t need to stick his leg out but I guess that was just instinct taking over. I don’t think it’s one we can complain about.
  4. Anyone else see a lot of similarities between him and Semenyo? Obviously hasn’t had the benefit of a lower league loan like Semenyo, but Yeboah is physically strong, pacy, had a trick up his sleev. Even in the way he runs I can see similarities. Im sure we will be asking in years to come if we think Yeboah is a natural goal scorer or not!
  5. My worry with Mehmeti is that he turns out to be a Bolasie where we fail to get the best from him but he goes on to have a good career at a very good level. Bringing on Roberts instead on him once is one, however two games running I would be very concerned if I were Mehmeti.
  6. Wells has been outstanding the last two games, worked his socks off and linked up play fantastically. Regarding Cornick, he done well at times when he came on yesterday. Let’s not get too excited though! A few mins before his goal he had a complete swing and a miss from a cross when all he had to do is side foot it. As for the goal itself, I think we may have been talking about another “miss” if it were not for the huge deflection from the defender on the way.
  7. In the most basic terms possible, without having to piece together 20 pages on here, what does this mean for the club?
  8. From behind yes, but he could get to the ball without going through the player. Could have had consequences if he got it wrong but timed to perfection. Naismith might have been side on but clearly had to go through the player to win it. No matter how many times I see it, it’s always taking out the player before winning the ball.
  9. Not at all. Take Vyner’s tackle in the first half. Element of risk involved but a fantastic, clean tackle. Completely different angle to the one Naismith had to come in from.
  10. So if it was the other way around there is no chance you would be calling for a penalty?
  11. For me it was a a clear pen in real time. The angle in which the tackle was made meant he would have to had come through the player to win the ball. Having seen the replays I still believe this. Not complaining about it, just think we got away with one.
  12. I would still prefer to see Naismith in midfield. Might happen depending on resting Williams, who has played a lot of minutes at the start of this season despite his recent injury record.
  13. Bit of both this one… it was a great save, however a decent striker doesn’t give the keeper a chance to make the save. Im not a fan of Cornick, but this isn’t a dig at him, it’s fact. He is not a natural goal scorer. Wells or Conway, that’s a goal.
  14. Seeing a thread on Vyner’s unbelievable challenge in the first half, I thought Naismith’s in the second half is worth a discussion. For me, it’s a clear pen. Straight through the man to win the ball. A cliché saying in football but anywhere else on the pitch and that’s a free kick. Got away with one on that occasion I feel.
  15. So much better without the likes of Henderson slowing the game down. Much more flow and purpose to the play.
  16. I see what’s happened here, ”capacity between 17k-20k”… Well done to the R*vers board for realising that this is no where near big enough and it would leave thousands of disappointed Sags outside the gates every home game. I don’t doubt for one second they will soon be back with plans for a 75k mega stadium and I for one can’t wait to see the promotional video they release before even discussing this with absolutely anyone they need to!
  17. Looked like they should have had one as well for Naismith handball. As already said, maybe sums up the refs overall performance
  18. Hadn’t notice first couple of times watching but just seen it again and Wells clearly trips the defender when in the box. 100% not intentional but surprised the ref didn’t see more in it and potentially call a foul. Certainly not complaining, will take favourable decisions every game. Were we lucky that the goal stood? Apologies if mentioned elsewhere.
  19. Then the question is what does his legacy want to be? It should be delivering premier league football to Bristol, but it doesn’t seem to be the case.
  20. What you fail to recognise was at no point did I say we should pay the equivalent of what rovers were prepared to pay for a proven goal scorer. I was merely stating the fact that people were mocking rovers for trying to sign JCH which showed more ambition from them than our owners have showed. No where did I say we should be signing anyone for £15m! Christ, a loan deal for a striker would have been something! But no, SL doesn’t want to spend money on the football club.
  21. You sound like you are? Not saying I am jealous, more that I wouldn’t have been disappointed if we did. All good though, at least we have a 33 year old to see us through the next few months…
  22. It’s not the equivalent of us spending £25m and blowing everything on one gamble. It’s investing SOME of the money we do have into the playing squad. It’s widely accepted that you cannot plead poverty when you’ve generated £35m over two transfer. We have money, SL doesn’t want to spend it. We have a 33 year old striker to lead the line until January at least! It’s embarrassing from our board. Those criticising Rovers for signing JCH come across as jealous more than anything. Trying to play it down when on paper it’s an impressive signing for them. For what it is worth, I would have taken JCH as a deadline signing today. In my opinion he would out score Wells in the championship.
  23. At the end of the day they may or may not be spending above their means and it might be shit or bust if their gamble for promotion doesn’t pay off. I get that, but it shows ambition! Vs us, who has money to spend but an owner who refuses to do so. I get it, we don’t like rovers, we want them to fail. But at least they are showing something, which we are not.
