  1. After not having attended a game since Swansea for my own sanity, performances and results have picked up. Some on here and social media believing Manning is in fact the second coming. So against my best judgement, I decided to have another look myself. Wow, that was dire! It confirmed everything we already knew. This new and improved Manningball was a flash in the pan. That my friends is the football you have to look forward to next season, which will come as no surprise to many. Good luck all for next season. I shall look forward to a return to the gate in a year or two.
  2. It’s been a funny season in this regard. Up to say January/February Knight is old have been there, but then he looked shattered and had reduced impact on games. Picking up now where he was earlier in the season. Vyner has a few mentions but I can’t see past all his mistakes. Very much a liability at times. Despite the doubt I have around Manning, he has got Mehmeti playing some of his best football since he joined us. Maybe not enough for a top 5 spot. I would go for… 1. Dickie 2. Max 3. Pring 4. Knight 5. Conway
  3. Damage has been done for me, a few meaningless end of season wins doesn’t change anything. You’ve seen the brand of football Manning wants to play from October until March. Playing the type of football from the last few games is easy to do with no pressure on. And as repeated many times, Manning was the only issue. It was the ones at the very top that drove fans away. Too much negativity, lies and poor football means I stand by my decision not to renew my season ticket. In terms of Manning himself, the true test will be the first 10 games of next season. Pressure would soon be back on.
  4. If there is clear contact and they haven’t won the ball I am not sure how it can’t be a penalty/free kick. Surely that’s within the rules?
  5. Was he though? He was turning at pace. Contact was made, he has gone down. All pretty basic when deciding on a foul surely?
  6. But you’ve summed it up in your final sentence. You don’t “think” the contact was enough. How would you ever prove if it is or isn’t? The contact was clear and Silva went over, therefore it’s a penalty.
  7. I think the ball was gone and the only contact made was by the Celtic player on the Rangers player. You will have winning the ball and contact after. It’s inevitable. That wasn’t the case here.
  8. Am I the only one who didn’t think it was that bad a decision? You could clearly see the contact from the Celtic defender on Silva. You could argue all day if the contact was enough to send him over, but VAR aren’t here to discuss physics. There was contact, Silva sent down. Therefore it’s a penalty.
  9. Can I take offence to the title of the thread please… the correct terms is person of the match! I demand an apology and compensation due to being hurt and upset by this whole sorry episode.
  10. I think James will sign a one year extension. Williams will probably want more than we are willing to offer contract length wise. Can see him going to Bolton if they are promoted. Bird essentially replaces King so we would still be one short in the middle, Naismith able to step in if needed/can stay fit. Need some creativity in this area as well. Centre back needed depending on Atkinson. Wide areas I don’t think will be priority with Mehmeti, Sykes and Bell in there. That leaves at least one striker, probably two. Wells won’t have the legs for another full season and Conway’s contract situation will probably mean he isn’t around next season. Back up keeper to Max (this is a compliment as a few months ago I was calling for a Max replace!). I would say a minimum of six players to hold our own next season.
  11. Fair enough if he was injured. I thought all injured players were released back to their club to assessment/treatment if they were going to play no part in the fixtures
  12. Palmer has been sensational this season yet couldn’t get even a minute of action in the recent England friendlies. Unbelievable!
  13. I don’t think anyone would claim the football under Pearson was nonstop excitement, but to say it was uninspiring is completely wrong. The togetherness of the players and fans, coming through a difficult couple of years following covid, the feeling we were building something. It was all very much inspiring and the reason there was so much discontent when he was wrongly fired.
  14. Firstly, thought Bournemouth was a strange move for him but they have shown great quality this season. Them and Wolves are the two shock performers in the premier league for me this season. On to Scott himself. Great to see him make his England U21 debut last week but in terms of the premier league, he does seem to be struggling to make an impact. No doubt early season injuries have played a part, but I thought his transition to the premier would be pretty smooth ability wise. However, fit he either seems to start on the bench or if he does start, gets pulled off relatively early. Again tonight he was take off at half time. Hopefully he will finish this season well and kick on next season. Looking forward to seeing what our former star boy can do.
  15. I would say most fans are fickle but reading the comments on here after back to back wins, I would say this is pretty special! Three games ago it wasn’t even just a case of Manning (or Tinnion) out, it was the disconnect from the club completely. Now, back to back wins against a decent Leicester side who had 1 win in 5 league games, and relegation threatened Plymouth, we are suddenly building something special! I stand by the fact that my passion for this club has it an all time low. No amount of wins under this leadership team, top to bottom, will change that.
  16. Delighted? Not really. I’d say not bothered sums it up. 6 points that guarantee our safety shouldn’t be celebrated. How about picking up wins when it actually matters for future reference.
  17. How much of a setback to his progression since joining us has this been? This would be 9 months+ without a competitive game?
  18. Let’s follow the Ipswich blueprint! Step one, recruit Mark Ashton… Also, isn’t it time to change the title of the thread? Believe this was set up to mock Ipswich when they appointed Ashton. Fair to say the joke has long gone!
  19. Exactly, no one misses that many sitters, let alone Vardy!
  20. He organised a win over a Leicester team doing all they can to avoid getting back to the premier league and being financially ruined. Good result on paper. Reality is something different.
  21. I kept saying I wouldn’t go today but never believed it even myself. But here I am, no intention of making the effort today. I’m not happy about it. Should look forward to match days. The sad reality is we could beat the league leaders 3, 4 or 5 nil today and I just couldn’t care less. In fact, I would probably be more annoyed by a win than anything else, much like the Swansea game. Yes I’m a bad fan, but please don’t blame me for feeling this way…
  22. At least you are wondering which one will turn up. For me it’s obvious, there is only one team to choose from and I’m not interested in giving them any of my time or effort.
  23. For those blaming the FA, they have rules in place and he should be punished for any he has broken, much like others before him. Regarding the help he needs, Newcastle are his employer, not the FA. They should be the ones supporting him with this surely?
