Unless Twine is the second coming of Lionel Messi, I think we all know what sort of performance to expect against teams who will set up to keep it tight and nick a Cardiff style win.

We are boring as sh1te, with a boring as sh1te coach, led by incompetent dunces and a disinterested owner.

    What could possibly go wrong.

Then in simple terms, he isn’t learning!

Sounded annoyed to me especially when Richard Hoskins suggested £2m for Rob Dickie when it was actually £600k, It must be annoying when you work your hardest for a club and just get criticised constantly by some fans ( I have no opinion on if tinnion is out of his depth or deserves the job ) But none of us (unless we have contacts ) have any idea of what is going behind the scenes its all just speculation.

Tinnion has been praised a lot for his work in the youth set up. No one can deny that. You praise the good work when it’s done.

The trouble is there has been nothing to praise since his little “I’ve been here 30 years so deserve this” promotion.

That's right and yet when I suggested, as a fair target for the manager, we need to win two of Huddersfield, Blackburn and Rotherham at home to give fans confidence that Manning was learning I was told that's stupid. It's not because if you want to finish top end then bottom 8 teams need to be put to bed more often than not.

Spot on, but unlike with Swansea, they need to be convincing wins. Scrapping to an undeserved 1-0 will not be good enough against these teams.

  4. Don’t want to turn it into one of those threads, but to me the atmosphere is as good as the performance. Look at West Ham games and Southampton for reference. Matches like Swansea are never going to have an atmosphere due to performance on the pitch.

So to me, it’s irrelevant where they sit.

Also, if you need a drum to create an atmosphere I would give it up completely.

I completely agree Tim. Like you and many fans of my generation have experienced far worse times. Several relegations to start with……..:sad26:Ive also seen better times, several promotions.

Football fans are by and large a fickle bunch whose opinions fluctuate on how the clubs doing at any particular time. It wasn’t that long ago that Arsenal fans were calling for Arteta’s head - now he’s the best thing since sliced bread.

I’ll renew as I always do - I won’t be having a hissy fit over the way the club is being run.

I have witnessed the good and the bad over the past 40 years, and I think this feels as bad as anything before.

The togetherness under Pearson, coming through a tough few years but feeling like we were building something, to the shambles this club has become over the past few months is incomparable. Lie after lie, and the total disrespect showed by Tinnion to the fans recently has to be the final straw. They have made this an us vs them environment.

Whatever happens over the next 12 months is purely the clubs own doing. I can only see it going one way and those at the top deserve what’s coming to them.

The image is putting me off to be honest

This does beg the very relevant question of why have they chosen to plaster Tinnion’s face over the season ticket marketing?

Manning obviously makes sense for obvious reasons, like what he is doing or not. But Tinnion??? It’s like they either haven’t heard anything of the discontent from the fans, or deliberately wanting to run our noses in it. I really can’t decide!

  7. You’re all getting mugged off with those increases, especially in the south stand.

But, and I’ve said it a few times before, good luck to you if you see value in paying those prices for this brand of football under this leadership.

Highly-rated St Patrick's Athletic midfielder Adam Murphy is set to move to Bristol City. The only question now is the timing of the deal.

Adam Murphy could delay his move to Bristol City until January - so that he can feature in St Patrick’s Athletic’s run for Premier Division and FAI Cup glory.

The 18-year-old is once again believed to be considering a pause on his switch to the Championship side.
A deal looked set to be finalised during this transfer window, such was Bristol City’s eagerness to get him over.

However, all parties could yet agree to a situation where Murphy sees out his contract at Richmond Park, which expires at the end of the season.

That would mean him signing a pre-contract with the Robins and joining in January.

And while that would mean a smaller ‘compensation’ fee going to the Saints than if they sold him now, they would rather retain the player’s services for the next few months.

Bristol City still have a week to get the deal over the line in this window.

Pat’s have shot into title contention and are just four points adrift of leaders Shamrock Rovers, while they are also competing for FAI Cup glory.

Jon Daly’s men have been drawn away to Finn Harps in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Cheers. Am I mad thinking there were definitely rumours of a failed medical?

  9. The more you think about the pre season excuse, the more ridiculous it sounds. Doing a pre season which will then see him through to the end of the season, at which point he will go off and come back needing to do a pre season!

Does anyone recall the real reason we didn’t sign him last summer? I thought it was due to a failed medical, but then he continued to play for St Pats for the remainder of their season? Presumably this could make any medical issue worse. But then who done the medical in January and gave the thumbs up?

I don’t get why the club couldn’t say he arrived with an injury. We will work on that this season so that he comes back ready for next season.

Your easy answer though isn’t even what I’m looking for.
If one of them has managed 10 league 1 appearances, how come the other one hasn’t even managed a minute in the 21’s?
I’m not at all bothered about first team bench. Just at least some minutes at any level please.

I can’t fathom how someone can be on a 4 and half month pre season. I think we are being lied to. Again.

I agree 100%, this pre season excuse doesn’t make sense as to why he has not featured at any level.

Much has been made of Tinnion’s comments recently and the plan for the U18’s. You would have thought Murphy could even slot straight into there for fitness levels, unless there is a rule stating otherwise?

  11. The easy answer is playing in the championship vs league 1.

But I agree, been with us since January. If two months of a “pre season” isn’t even enough to make the bench for the U21’s, let alone the first team, then surely questions need to be asked.

I would have thought 30 min cameos for the U21’s would do him the world of good.

I was not anticipating the “one or two signings” comment, worrying that seemed to be casually dropped in without clarification.

Also the Seb PH comment, really good if he can step up, would be great, hope it works, but it’s a big with respect to Newport level.

Regarding Seb PH, Semenyo showed it is doable. Not just to step up to the championship, but become a decent premier league player.

It might be asking a lot, but they wouldn’t have given him a contract without thinking he was capable.

Despite all his flaws we are now seeing, the one thing it is hard to criticise Tinnion for his development of young players.

Maybe winning the youth cup would contribute to the development of the players, and would enhance our ability to bring in top young players in the future. Of all the things to criticise the club for. is this really one of them?!

Having not listened and taking what has been summarised on here, it sounds like young players have been held back/not been given the opportunity with the first team based on the youth cup.

If you think keeping Alex Scott in the U18’s 2/3 years ago would have been better for his development rather than being introduced to the first team, I have no words for you.

  14. What Tinnion failed to acknowledge was Pearson had us top 6 before a ball was even kicked this season!

I was planning on listening to this predictable nonsense at some point but it’s been so well summarised by many on here I no longer have to put myself through it. Thanks anyone who took one for the team!

Those of you who will continue to show blind faith in this shambles of a club, I hope you enjoy the ride. I’m getting off on this stop. Hoping to be back on when it passes back through, minus those pulling the strings currently.

Any recommendations for proper local football to watch on Saturday afternoons?

I don't judge a Coach after just 22 League Games.

I just find it interesting how vocal a new member can be in support of an underperforming manager, especially when they have supported the club for so long.

Never during the good times of Cotterill, being one game away from the promised land under Gary Johnson, the tenure of Johnson Jnr. Yet now is the time to join and defend Manning who is clear doing a poor job so far.

Also, going through a rough patch doesn't immediately mean a manager is out of his depth. Shortly after the start of the 22-23 season, Pearson managed 10 points from 13 games - with probably a batter group of players

Funny you should say a better group of players in 22-23, seeing as our own board see the current squad as capable of achieving promotion

The only thing missing is consistency of performance

This squad can produce moments of excellence countered by moments of mediocrity

On their day they can beat anyone as well as lose to anyone

We know we are missing a goal scoring No9 as what we have at the club currently isn’t good enough

We also lack that creativity to unlock low block defences which needs addressing

Has BT and the board got a solution in place for the summer as they appear to be saying that is the priority?

Is Manning & his assistant able to coach us into a style and winning team that will challenge next season - who knows but throwing him under the bus so soon is not going to happen with this board & owner until Manning has had a pre season with new players and next season to put into practice what they saw in him

If he fails miserably and we are fighting for our lives near the lower end of the league then someone will open the trap door and wave LM goodbye

Consistency is an issue, you are right about that. However, the issue under Manning is they are consistently crap! Exceptions being Watford away, Southampton home and a couple of cup games.

In answer to the original question, fair targets for Manning, this is quite simple to me… play the type of football we were told to expect, whilst picking up points along the way. Show progression is being made, not regression.

No one realistically expected promotion. That only came from the board. However, they will mostly be judge on this now, not necessarily Manning. If Manning is not delivering on this front, it is down to the board to act on this.

Mine was Bristol City v Liverpool in 1959 a 1-0 Victory to us. I back managers and follow City through thick and thin. You feel the need to be superior about football this is amusing. At least you won the day on the Forum in the past 🏆

Just out of interest, please don’t take this as judgement or criticism, what made you suddenly want to start engaging on this forum if you had supported City for that long?

Out of interest how long have you been going City games?

How many times did you go home thinking you enjoyed it?

We've been perennial dour performers for many years now, apart from the season we walked the league with Cotts it's been average at best

About 30 years and a majority of them have been much more enjoyable. We aren’t talking about one off games though, it’s the whole package.

You never expect success with City, we know that. But a few hours every other Saturday has never felt as much of a chore as it doesn’t currently.
