This is the thing isn't it. I've donated, and it's great to see so many ex and current players, staff, and the fans contributing.

It'd be even better to see those far more able to contribute than most take the financial element of the worry out of Scotty's hands as recognition for all he's done for the club over the years imo.

The trouble is, do the Lansdown then give the same amount of money to another employee who needs help? Eg a tea lady who’s worked there for 20 years.

Fair do's, I will plonk myself in the learned bracket then. 😉

Cook arrived before Ashton and the takeover, in answer to 1960Maaan's question. We feared his arrival was indication that the deal was off at the time, but happily Evans sold 5 weeks later.

Cook, Ashton and co. scrabbled around in the summer to recruit and let go of as many players as possible, squad was so broken, dressing-room culture shocking. I'd like to credit Cook for several of our best acquisitions that summer (Morsy and Chaplin wouldn't have dropped down if not for Cook, IMO) but regrettably he couldn't piece it all together, began calling out players in increasingly emotional post-match interviews. Thought the new operation did right by him honestly, as much as Cook felt he warranted more time and believed his position was always in jeopardy.

Wasn’t there some rumours that Cook had some personal issues? That being the reason why he quickly dropped down the leagues after the Ipswich job.

That was the name I heard too.  Wasn’t sure if true though, but 2+2…and now you saying so.

7 appearances, 2 red cards, and out with an Achilles injury for foreseeable.

As much as Timm Klose did well when he first came, I think Nige learned from his second season.

    Thanks and @Simez.

A CB would have been nice. However, as we all know, the Scott ‘replacement’ was the priority. We could have done both with the money.

I said after the summer window had closed and Phil Alexander gave his hostage speech on SOTC, that the hierarchy had inflicted self-harm.  They’d wasted 20 league games of opportunity to earn as many points as they could before the next window opened, regardless of manager / head-coach.  That isn’t acting in the best interests of the club.  That pettiness cost Liam Manning at least 11 games too.

I think it’s pretty unforgivable management of the club.  They can bullshit all they want about budgets set in March.  They can say Nige Pearson was offered a player(s), but they won’t tell you who they offered.  It wasn’t Scott Twine, it wasn’t Finn Azaz, it wasn’t Max Bird. They offered him an OOC CB, which putting the club and its finances first, he declined.  That’s acting in the club’s best interests!

Do you know who the CB was?

Did we ever establish why Mrs Short followed you? 😂😂

When we had that discussion I made the point that not only was Short not Mannings man, but that he’d pissed off a lot of people at Oxford with the way he disposed of Wayne Brown. I was looking at the Oxford forum again last night and it seems the way Manning left caused a lot of bad feeling - obviously there’s the job half done piece, but if several on there who appear to be ITK are correct, he came to us and didn’t say goodbye to staff/players - the players just got a text from him to say he was leaving.

Doesn’t scream a great man manager who built real relationships with players. And if you don’t do that, when things go wrong you are in trouble.

I said at the time that he was one of these young managers who keep jumping from job to job just to further their own career. Rather than trying to finish a job at a club and achieving something. Eg Manning, Beale, Martin.

if we were doing well, he’d show us no loyalty so we don’t owe him any.

    Glad someone's mentioned this

so incredibly odd and random and also for that section of ground aswell

There were a few fans going mad pointing out who did it but no action seemed to be taken.

By “today” I’m thinking you mean specifically the presser - and I agree. One of the bits I don’t understand is that Liam isn’t particularly great at the pressers in terms of being engaging (some good answers but a lot of corporate speak). I also think as we’ve said before you can see him bristling sometimes when he’s questioned - he’s not happy with things that veer from the process.

With that in mind, as you’ve said, I can’t understand why once they haven’t put Hogg up to take him out of the firing line and give a slightly different perspective. My non scientific answer is that every bit of PR they’ve put out since day one is how great Liam is and we’re too far down the rabbit hole now.

But yesterday definitely made things worse not better. If you don’t think we’ve played well in 19 of 20 games then don’t bloody say it!

That comment sounded like he’s under a bit of pressure and got a bit emotional.

Ian was the one who said that and I believe it was wishful thinking on his part.

I heard him ask both Marshall & Tinnion at a Senior Reds lunch in November IIRC with the expectation and assurance from them [according to Ian] that they would participate once the January window closed.

Now this might explain, for some, the perception that Ian is trying to court favour with both guys by "defending" the current regime and LM in particular in episodes of FBC since the turn of the year.

FWIW I never expected Gavin Marshall to come on to be grilled by Ian, even with me being host, but his evidential elevated ITK "status" does suggest that maybe he IS having some dialogue with BT?

I would suggest for yours, and the credibility of the podcast, that should have been challenged at the time.

    Dear Nigel

I made the mistake of thinking I knew something about football. I replaced an experienced and successful manager with a guy that had never managed above League One and had led MK Dons to the bottom 4. I then told the fans to expect the top six.

Two of the worse three teams in the division have just comfortably beaten us and our league record is worse under him than you, despite the fact that you could barely name a team due to injuries.

Please come back and save the season

    Love

    Jon

P.S thanks for getting us the points early doors which mean we are not in a relegation battle now.

It someone could redo this video with those words I’d be really grateful.
