Sounds as if several thousand others didn't though!

I'm all digital-walleted up for the coming season, this thread has burst back in to life when someone pointed out that 4,500 have requested a physical ticket.

I don't think its a case of not understanding it though is it? People are stating on here that they want one because they have always had one. I would expect 70-80% of the 4500 are people who just ticked the yes I want a physical card when the form came out.

Do many other clubs have heads of IT? Genuine question! I would expect this stuff to come under infrastructure and outsourcing most of it...

If that's true then all those people who said it will be a tiny minority wanting a physical ticket all look a bit silly now ?

A tiny minority 'need' a physical card, a much larger number 'want' one, big difference.

Just picked up Chelts tickets off Jerry.

He said over 4500 out of 14.5k STs have requested physical STs.

By comparison Liverpool have over 38k STs and have only had requests for 800 physical ones.

Obviously going to take some time now to get it all sorted.

It's fair to say we don't like change in Bristol...?

That's crazy, hence the reason why they will charge next season...

Not listened to this yet but a flag that Mark Watson has done an episode of Quickly Kevin, Will he Score? Should be a decent listen if you're into 90s Bristol City chat.

Was a decent listen, lots of off topic/non city stuff like usual but good to hear us discussed!

Does Google Wallet require a linked bank account or card in this scenario? No need if it is just a prepaid ticket, not clear how this thing works. Only reply if you really know the answer please.

No you don't need to add a card or bank account. If you only use it for the season ticket it'll be the only thing appearing in your wallet.

So in addition to the ST cost, we'll probably have to buy a new bloody phone every year?

Where have I said that? I haven't upgraded my Samsung phone since 2018...

You can still request a physical card if you don't have a smartphone...

So if so many of us don't have a suitable phone, what is the point of changing the entry to stadium method? The club is acting very stupidly IMO!

It's a shame that many of our supporters are so sarcastic about those of us who are significantly older than many of our supporters. We are not stupid old cretins. Then again supporting City for seventy years probably does say a lot for my intelligence!

It's always the fans who come every match who suffer, not those with pots of money who can afford phones that cost an arm and a leg. The fans who have always paid their way with turnstile operators, clerical staff and Directors taking their share of the "gate money" which was one of the reasons for 1982. And who got us back on track? People like me who put his total savings account(£90) in new shares.

I would say the vast majority of people attending will have a compatible smartphone or be with someone who does (if kids tickets).

Unfortunately whether you like it/agree with it most clubs are now going digital. For me and a lot of other people its safer and more convenient.

There will always be a minority who cant use it and they will have to accommodate those with physical cards but i wouldn't say the club are acting 'stupidly' just moving with the times, like when it went from paper tickets to a plastic card...

Sorry NFC, what's that? I literally have no clue how any of this works.

See my post above... "NFC, which is short for near-field communication, is a technology that allows devices like phones and smartwatches to exchange small bits of data with other devices and read NFC-equipped cards over relatively short distances." if you use Google Wallet/Pay or Apple Pay they will prompt you to turn it on before use. If not it can be turned on/off via settings. Give me a shout if any issues
