I don't think the OP is "convinced" we'll be relegated, but I can't argue with the assessment that shots on target need to improve. An SoT/goal ratio of 0.67 seems good, but if we can only manage 1 shot target that's less than a goal a game (the defence will need to be amazing). Manage 3 shots on target and we're on for 2 goals a game (this would feel like dreamland). Something that's concerned me for some time is that so much of our attacking play is via crosses. Scoring from crosses is not easy and I believe the stats back that up.

I think this merits a thread on its own. -

Let's hope the absent owners get to see this. Having to watch shit like that on a regular basis might focus their minds a bit. -

I'm not expecting top six or anything like that necessarily. I just want a team that's worth watching. -
Birmingham City at home match thread

Midfield and forward line for me. If we can't do both then improve the midfield with more creativity and the forward line will also benefit. Birmingham appeared to have several players that could go past people in central midfield and just left me thinking who can do that for us? No real purpose to our play, slow, predictable hit and hope. No incisive quality on show. As for Pearson talking about big moments for us, I can recall a pass to Bell that was offside in the first half and the Wells miss. That was it. -
Where is the creativity going to come from?
Kingswood Robin replied to ChrisBW's topic in Football Chat
Creativity would be good, but lets keep it simple to start with. The ball needs to stay within the white lines. How many times did we just kick the ball out of play? It was pitiful, you can't blame FFP, selling players or injuries for that. It was dreadful to watch. All huff and puff and completely predictable, no quality whatsoever. I believe Lansdown is ultimately responsible, but Pearson won't get cut much slack this season if home performances continue in the current vein. -
Agreed. The biggest surprise today was that Preston took so long to score. Pulled all over the place for long spells, lucky to get a point I thought.

Preston North End home match thread

If that was away from home I'd be happy, but it wasn't, so I'm not. Creativity zilch, but a long way to go. -
If you think the O'Neills kits are bad...

Looks like something Evel Knievel would wear on his day off. -

No sympathy at all, keep off the pitch. See you again when you're 38 and grown up a bit. -
Same here. It all feels a bit self indulgent to me.

Arctic Monkeys not doing much for me. Should have stuck them on in the afternoon, dull.

If the Mangotsfield one went through I'd be able to see it from my house, imagine that ! Anyway I did my part and got behind the "Support the Rovers move to Mansfield" campaign. Did the job.

Had Umbro T-Shirt with the diagonal strip across it.

Maybe the question should be, who's the biggest club to have done bugger all since forever. I can't believe anyone's challenging us for that. Luton have done the complete cycle. They were top flight when I was a teenager, had their bad years and now top flight again now I'm in my 50's. Clubs that get themselves into terrible financial trouble, dust themselves down and just go sailing past us again. Why do we never achieve anything?

Think it was John Halls. My dad used to drive an articulated lorry for them in the late 60s delivering Brolac paint. He once left his mark in Sidmouth while reversing around a tight corner. The mark is visible to this day !

What will be the expectations for next season?
Kingswood Robin replied to Top Robin's topic in Football Chat
He's certainly done a good job so far and I hope it continues. As for the Championship, 3 teams always come up and 3 always come down. I can't see why the teams coming up would be better than us. If Southampton/Leicester/Leeds are that strong they can take the top 3 places. We can concentrate on moving from 14th up to 6th-8th, hopefully. -
What are your immediate end of season thoughts?
Kingswood Robin replied to Jerseybean's topic in Football Chat
Lots of games where I felt frustrated for an hour or two afterwards, but then that bigger picture feeling kicked in. Most areas of the pitch have improved. The fitness and ability is there, just a bit more nous is needed. The younger players will be another year older, the new players we've brought in will be a bit more integrated, even more new players will come in. In many ways this felt like the season before something big. I really hope so. -
Heard Tom Petty's Running Down a Dream on the radio the other and forgot just how good it was, certainly got some dust off the speakers. They followed it up with ZZ Tops cover of Viva Las Vegas, a pretty damn good 10 minutes !

Would we be good if those actors came in and formed a holding company called Ocean's Eleven. I must say I'm looking forward to the One Show coverage when Boreham Wood go up via the play-offs !

I hope this is true. The free shirt with a kids season ticket has been way too small. I always end up buying adult shirts for my two boys.

Well Happy Birthday !

We need some kind of Stretford end counter at Ashton Gate. Each year just turn it over again.

May 2nd 2001. Wycombe sent Bristol Rovers hurtling into the Third Division with a 2-1 victory at The Memorial Stadium. I was there that night in 1990. The date came back to bite them on the arse though. May 2nd 2001, the last day that Bristol Rovers were in the same division as Bristol City. Happy May 2nd everyone !

It may be an odd phrase, but I don't think that alone is conclusive proof of unconscious bias. If he had a history of these "mishaps" (I don't know if he has) then I think that would be different.
