Both were magnificent footballers, and yes, Richard was by all accounts very good in goal. Think he did some hockey keeping, but the no.1 slot belonged to Al Shute, who was a) a Sag and b) an absolute head-case (and a good mate when I was at school)

@Davefevs I don't really understand how FFP works - I work in an industry where our clients have separate rules for spending on revenue (salary costs, eg) and capital (depreciating assets) - does FFP draw a distinction, or is it one big 'pot'?
Loaning out a high earner who isn't playing, who's about to leave on a free, who's a marginal (at best) improvement over the current number 1...sensible business
