    • But one thing we have to be better at is tying down our home-grown players on longer deals, and just as importantly, regularly extending them.  Especially those players who will undoubtedly have clubs sniffing around.  Semenyo, Scott’s sales in part driven by remaining contract length, now Conway.  We got good money for both the AS’s, but if we have to sell this summer i doubt we will get top-dollar for Conway.

I see people say this a lot but I'm not sure what else the club are supposed to do. You can't force someone to sign a contract, so what do you do? Not play Conway at all going back how far before he signs?

How many other players would you have to sign on longer deals in case they develop well?

It's just an inevitability of football that every club in the world faces.

I think this logic is totally wrong.

If we keep increasing our points total as we have done, we'll keep getting closer to the playoffs (the points totals of our rivals for 6th will fluctuate season on season).

How many points the current team in 6th from top or 3rd from bottom, is out of our control, so it's ridiculous judging our performance in comparison to them.

How anyone cannot see us finishing 11th best team in the league and 62 points as an improvement is baffling.

This isn't me supporting Tinnion's embarrassing Twitter usage, but we HAVE improved incrementally this season.

The table since Manning has been here has us 13th. So, sure, there's overall improvement over the season as a whole, but there's also been a slight regression since a big change was made.

It's only normal and fair that people will question whether that's really progress

They playing the same way element across the age groups is something we were crowing about as far back as under LJ.

This is not a fresh approach.  Unless it was binned off and has been re-established.

It's just nonsense as well though isn't it?

No way are the younger aged groups coached and tactically set up in the same way the first team are and nor should they be. To do so would be completely ludicrous and counter productive at all levels

Presented on the pitch after the match

I found it very cringe worthy the way it was being hyped as seemingly such a "fantastic season" (Downsey's words) celebration but doing the awards after the match like that worked well I think and was a nice way to round off the last home game

And show the incident on the screens, like in egg chasing and cricket

VAR is only used on appeal. Simples. You get one or two per game.

So for example in the Forest game, they appeal the first one and the VAR disagrees as happened. No penalty and no more appeals? Or is it a case of if you appeal, you'd almost be forcing the VAR to make a decision in your favour to avoid backlash?

I feel like that would just open it up to even more confusion personally.

  6. I'm not sure how people think being able to "appeal" like in cricket etc would help. These decisions people are talking about have already been reviewed and people will always disagree with subjective calls

That's not relevant for me, I don't care what other people say. It's another good competitive game ruined.

Why was the game "ruined"? It was incredible drama and one of the most amazing endings to a game you could ever have

Ultimately to try to protect the Lower Leagues and grassroots.

A free for all..how many would then just watch Liverpool, Man United or whoever is popular and attendances below the PL fall further.

Modern trends that really irritates "But who is your PL side, or your favoured PL side" (in addition to main side).

I guess that's true, although I'm not sure that really helps any more.

Enough people already get their football fix from the "big" games and couldn't give a toss about their local teams regardless of what time the games are

  9. Aye. Sykes, Twine, Conway, Wells and Mehmeti were awful last night..

Strange thread imo. Sykes has made a massive difference in the recent great form, starting from when he came on against Swansea to break the losing trend

Ref bottled it…..or he used common sense

I think common sense for me. Although it could well be given, I don't really see how that affects Bayern enough to cry about. It was just a little miscommunication that had no consequence to the gameplay itself

Ref was excellent in his general demeanor and control of the game.

Thank you to everyone (who has said it was offside). I watched the pundits' "discussion" and was worrying that I was losing my sanity - one of the most clear offsides you'd see!

I'm not sure which of the experts it was on match of the day but one of them even suggested that the keeper should just change his own position so that he can see 😂

  12. This Wolves one has annoyed me all weekend.  It's one of the clearest cases of offside you'll get. It doesn't matter how tall you are ffs, you can't stand directly in front of the goalkeeper in the middle of the goal about a yard away from him in an offside position while the ball goes into the net

O'Neil, Wolves and the pundits on MOTD are a disgrace for acting the way they have about such a simple decision
