  1. I think it's going to need a result of Tinnion/Swansea proportions to get him out this season. Nothing short of a footballing earthquake that humiliates him and the club. Leicester could put 3 or 4 past us, the stands could be a seething cauldron of pi$$ and vinegar and the club will just see it as part of the pain of rebuilding.

I think we're stuck until at least the autumn.

People need to start not going. It's OK saying you've had enough, the football's crap etc but the Lansdowns won't wake up until there's 12k in the stands. They're businessmen not football people.

  2. In the hierarchys opinion he is the new guy, he is being given time to look at the squad, he will be allowed to bring in new players and he will get a pre-season and 3 months of next season.

And in October when were in a relegation fight and crowds are down to 10-12k it will be the right time to take decisive action and reconsider the new direction that the club want to go in.

Welcome to Groundhog Season Bristol City style

The sttsngr thing about the O'Driscoll one was we initially did rally at Home especially.

From memory Wins vs Ipswich, Watford, Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough, Barnsley- draw with then high flying Brighton in his first 2 months the plus the odd point on the road.

The big turning point was Wolves Away, 11 years to this very weekend in fact.

Wad a big relegation six pointer. We were a goal up but conceded 2 in 5 mins or something 2nd half and the downward spiral begun.

And weren't they were managed by Dean Saunders at the time? That was a sickening game but the pies were good

I’m not sure Bristol Sport is that big a deal to me. After all they brought the Rugby to AG and I don’t have a problem with that.

However the nuttiness that surrounded the firing of Steve Cotterill was when I first thought there is something seriously wrong. UnLike Ipswich this season who really kicked on, we didn’t. The acrimony between Cotterill and Lansdown was pretty obvious at the time and has been commented on many times!

The odd employment of LJ and the my money my choice statement further fueled the increasing sense of division. The appointment of Holden, and the constant ramblings of Swiss Tony deepened the divide until the board of directors/ ownership had dug us a deep hole.

Enter one of the few men Steve Lansdown has employed that knew what he was doing to try and dig us out. Who he would inevitably fire!

Just when we were showing huge progress and the supporters were behind it we find ourselves without a competent CEO and the promotion of certain individuals to make shit decisions again! Culminating in this bullshit.

It’s little wonder the natives are restless! We are now without competent leaders at every level of the club!

Cotts had a few other 'personality ' issues from what I heard from people at the club at the time.

…and fully appreciate those who got a stream may have seen some things differently, haven’t checked in in the match thread to see consensus.

I had BBC WM on for the journey home (incidentally when discussing Fellows they noted that he hoped he didn’t get too big for his boots “like the lad playing for Bristol City” - so the story there will be interesting), and the first thing they asked Corberan was if he expected the opposition to sit 11 men behind the ball - and he confirmed he did as it’s how we play.

And that’s really what the first half was. It was slow, it was ponderous. Save the Tommy chance we didn’t look threatening - which was daft as the two centre backs for WBA looked very uncertain and an aggressive press could have undone them. But as the half wore on, they ran at us more, and probably finished the half stronger. The goal was a touch unfortunate for Max and without the guy in his line of sight I think he saves it, but ultimately we were 1-0 down because no intent was shown.

And that was the case until the last 20. We were carved for the second and only a great tackle from Vyner prevented a third, which WBA should also have had with a shot from 18 yards. The city fans were shouting “we’re ****ing shit” and there were muted chants of “We want Nigel Pearson”. The fact that for most of the second half city fans were chanting “we’ve got the ball/lost the ball” shows how bad it was.

But on that last 20 again. It was better for two reasons - firstly because WBA let it be, swapping out Wallace and Diangara. But it was also because we pressed a bit more intently and pressured a defence that wasn’t great on the ball. And that was bloody obvious from very early on.

The subs again were formulaic. Only thing that was a formation change you’d argue (other than wing switches) was Knight back into CM and Twine playing a bit higher, but again the process was the process and let’s not change that.

Genuinely despondent as to where we go with this bloke.

Other clubs are worse than us though. Therefore the club doesn't have to fear the Prem with it's opposing teams, nor dropping down which would result in less sponsorship, tv fees ans gate receipts.

Are they or don't they have the top six squad expectations that our owner/chairman have of us now?

Oh, and we're not that sh1t really, we used to be OK but now our manager's sh1t so we are too

Relegation, Manning gets sacked, poor season ticket sales for league one…. Not even Sir Brian Tinnion would survive that.

    What a game that was.

As critical as many of us are over Pearson sacking/Manning’s appointment, a few years ago Robins was heavily linked to us but was not a popular choice with fans. Am I right in thinking he was Lansdown’s preferred choice at the time?

    Ah, the if only.

Great advert for Championship football. Coventry should have won it in normal time and thoroughly deserved the win

I agree, he's definitely a bit irked about the negative press and unpopularity he's now getting. He's on the defensive - hence the disclosing of transfer fees, and the "i've been here 30 years" and i've earnt it"

The phrase "power in the hands of fools " springs to mind

Tbf the host said he was only coming on to talk about the youth cup success, and they said they'd only take him if they could ask him questions about the first team - or words to those effect

So he's not a politician and can't knock back questions that he's not capable of answering because some of his answers are complete twaddle. He's out of his depth and he's been hung out to dry by the spineless people above him

  11. He'll be here as long as the Lansdowns are around. Anyone with any football nous and any idea how to run a club would bump him back down to looking after the loanees.

He was a good servant with a decent left peg, strolling around in his comfort zone.

And he's destroyed any goodwill that he deserved. He's poisoned

  12. It's obvious that he's been thrown forward to spout the owner's/chairman's platitudes because the peasants are revolting.

I'd interpret all this waffle and guff as

"Bollox, I think we fuqued up and have been sussed. And we can't admit it because we still need to sell season tickets".

The truth is Pring and Conway will be sold in the summer because they've both had their heads turned by big clubs and will make good money.

We'll invest in young talent and free transfers and hope that Manning actually proves to be a half decent coach.

Our football club is a car crash of mismanagement, owned by people who know nothing about football and clearly realise they've shot themselves in the foot.

Cotts has a fine record at Valley Parade. Vaguely recall a not too shabby 6 0.

    Happy days 😊

One of the best away nights. And pie, chips and peas in the Town before the game. And bumping into Scotty Murray after the game and hugging him.
