Very true as long as he keeps his head down on the pitch and culdnt care less what he does in his spare time

i think saying leroy could damage the spirit at the club is disrespectful to GJ and the players... one person cant cause that much damage

i don't think he has been in trouble for a while now either

if we do sign him he WILL be a great player for us again

if not he is still a ledge

who knows? but you have to question why reading want rid?? can't get on with steve copple??

still got problems out and about in town which effected his playing for reading? won't change

his attitude? it's a gamble bringing back someone like that as an exeption for him to go off and

do as he likes while the rest of the team are under rules, it could effect a tight nit dressing room

we remember him as he left us as a goal machine but has his life style caught up with him??

if he can change his off field attitude (and we are not just talking having the odd drink it's fighting

and being arressted) then lita the player that left us to reading i would take back, but it's a gamble,

it has been said of brooker, orr, brown and partridge anticts but 2 had to kiss arse and change to stay,

brown was unlucky and partridge was not seen as a safe gamble but the latter 2 changed their ways

but can lita as no doubt he has ability to be a top striker as long as he does not piss it away.

the pros and con need to be weighed up and i'm 50/50 on the gamble

A very very honest appraisal CH. I am in total agreement, no doubting the lads 'potential' talent and eye for goal but surely if he was making the right noises about changing his 'off field' attitude other major clubs would be sniffing. For us it is different given the depth of feeling - good and bad - towards Leroy Lita but I am pleased it will be GJ's decision to make and not any of ours who with all due respect either veiw him with rose tinted specs or complete contempt. I am struggling to make up my mind as to want him or to give him a wide berth all I do know is if and I think it is a big 'if' he returns I will support him as I do the rest of the lads until he proves us right or wrong.

But it is a huge gamble whatever way you look at it or whatever your personal opinion. In GJ we trust!

Leroy Lita minus the big headed attitude and need to behave like a bad boy would be a fantastic signing. Sadly I can't see even GJ working those wonders with him, he's just too much of an arse but if he does sign I hope I'm proved wrong.

On the pitch someone with pace like that who makes all the runs is just what I think we need. On the loan thing GJ said in an interview that he wanted to go to a London side, I can't see why he would have a change of mind so soon afterwards.

I believe our sell on clause is 25% of profit so an offer of £2m from us (if we write off the clause as part of the deal) is worth as much as an offer of £2.33m from someone else. £3m from us = £3.67m from someone else. That could be a factor.

It's a lot of money to gamble on one player and with his well earned reputation it is definitely a gamble.

I've heard the rumours from the usual sources as well but a lot of water would have to go under the bridge for it to happen. Saying that, the fee won't be a problem as money is definately being made available to GJ to seriously strengthen and Leroy's approaching the age where he has to grow up and mature a bit now. GJ would be perfect in helping that and if he can do it with us then it could be a heck of a signing.

If any man can change him then it's gary johnson but does he really need the hassle?

we may not even be after lita but if we are then it's a gamble!! copple is a very good manager but

would not touch him with a barge pole even when they had not scored for 3 months, you need to ask

why??

no doubt lita has got it as a player but has to much baggage but if gary johnson thinks he is worth it then

like you said we'll have to trust him.

I would have him back within the blink of an eye. I am however fully behind GJ on players transfers, if he signes him excellent, if hes doesnt, no matter. But we desperatly need a Lita type player, a 20 goal a season striker is a must buy if we want play offs again. GJ has 5m available so i hear, will be interesting to see how he sepnds it.

Are you suggesting that there is a major problem between Lita and some of the current members of the squad?? it couldn't have been too bad IF he did go to Portugal with them.... For gods sake man spill the beans....

He caused enough trouble the last time.

Gary Johnson is his own man, and will not allow Mr Lansdown to dictate as to who comes in. Besides. Mr Lansdown would probably know that if he started calling the shots, Gary Johnson would up and leave, and I'm sure there would be a host of clubs watching his movements.

As for Lita's attitude, I think Gary Johnson would be well capable of sorting him out. Remember how he dealt with the Brooker, Brown, Partridge and Orr prison fiasco. None were his players, but he dealt with them.

You have to blame the previous manager for what went on before Johnsons arrival. However unlike his predecesor, Johnson comes across as strong willed, and appears to have total control of the changing room. It will no longer be a holiday camp for Lita!

If Gary Johnson really wants Lita, then Mr Lansdown must back him. I'm not a particular fan of Leroy Lita, but with Johnsons record at City, if he wants him, then I, for one, will trust Gary Johnsons judgement.

apart from his on field ability and his off field personality

another thing that concerns me about Lita is his injury problems something that seems to have constantly blighted him since he was at Reading.

personally though, disgusted by the signing as I would be......I can actually see it happening.

BUT......if he gets us the goals that get us promotion, I'll clap him through grated teeth
