England V Italy (Pre Match Build Up Thread)

We were shit and got what we deserved, nothing. Ashley young had a nightmare, so did Rooney and Walcott when he came on. From the 20th minute onwards we just didn't look interested and let them play with it far too easily. Another worry is that most of them didn't look fit and during ET, Rooney couldn't barely walk. Just a poor performance

that would have been Rooney's job. But he is not fit, and no way, as long as I have a hole in my ass, a world class player. We keep putting our faith in Rooney in the wildly optimistic hope that Rooney is a class player.

Time and time again, he has shown he isn't all that at international level.

I would even suggest our attack has got worse in this tournament since his recall. Bad bad decision imo.

Agree, there's a massive difference between looking good in the prem and being able to do it against the likes if Italian defenders.

Whenever we get a player who is touted as better than the other English players he is called World Class.

But to be world class you have to do it against the worlds best,Rooney isn't able to do that.

Andy Carroll did nothing going forward, didn't have 1 shot, didn't create anything.

Danny Welbeck had a decent effort on goal, won headers, made a few simple passes unlike Carroll and was good in defence.

To say Carroll done more is laughable.

Are you completely stupid? Carroll isn't in the team to create but he will attack a cross but he didn't get one cross all night. Welbeck should of stayed on Rooney should of come off.

England were as bad as NI infact better teams went out in the group stages thank God the Italian forwards werent firing or it could have been a cricket score.

Several players sadly just not good enough for international duty....Milner, Young, Johnson, Henderson.

Rooney clearly isnt fit and certainly not as good as everyone thinks he his

Once Parker and Gerrard tired on 55 -60 minutes England had nothing in midfield to stem the Italians.

I dont think we will see Gerrard in an England shirt again..hes a spent force..

One final question....what was a fullback who has never scored a goal for England doing taking a penalty???

Carroll is also in the side to hold the ball up which he never managed.

Carroll didn't attack any crosses, and even if he did have any to attack.. the fact remains he did nothing.

What effort? The one the side footed high wide and hansome for 15yards

He didn't have any to attack so he didn't attack any?? Strange argument!!

Agreed. I don't see what he can do when the midfield were in no mans land all game. We weren't passing the ball quick enough or getting it wide to Young and Walcott to get a cross in. Just hopeless lumps up field!

He was having to come back into midfield doing a job Rooney should of been doing FFS.

IMO Roy H is a better judge than you.

That's why he took Welbeck off. No problem with either that decision or of taking off Milner.

Carroll held the ball up better and won more headers. Had he had better service from the flanks he was far better equipped to attack the ball.

What players from the team that started today do people envisage playing in the 2014 world cup should we get there?

I'd go with Hart, Young, Rooney and Welbeck.

Young? What are you smoking?? Jesus Christ

He didn't have any to attack, but the fact is he did nothing.

Just because he had nothing to attack, that doesn't mean he done something positive.

I meant to say even if he did

We hardly had the ball let alone get the strikers in once Carrol came on.

None of our strikers are good enough in International football, the tournement has shown that.

Get used to it though, mOst of us have seen all this many many times before.

So your forgetting that chance in the 93rd minute when he done well to head the ball to rooney who skyed his bycicle kick.

Your criticism of Carroll is extremely harsh.

Rooney was playing behind Welbeck and should have been closest to Pirlo.

Didn't you hear Gerrard shouting at Rooney to keep an eye on Pirlo?

If he chased pirlo all game, he would of left Welbeck isolated. It should of been either Gerrard, Parker or Henderson's problem. Rooney is more effective up top
