Why not the side of the Atyeo nearest the Dolmam then lower corner section of the dolman and available space in A block of the Dolman for those who want to be close to the lads and noise but not neccessarily part of it like people were in the EE?

The demand for all of the Atyeo wont be high enough to go close to filling it.

I think if it's a success next season, it will be a very popular area.

Where? Is there a link to these comments?

I don't recall this being mentioned at the last consultation in the DEH for instance. It would be interesting to read the reasoning.

Here's your link

It was floated as an idea, in a 'thinking out loud' sort of way, at the meeting on March 9th.

The club shouldn't have look to build the ridiculously over sized media centre in the Atyeo Williams corner. This would've been ideal for a small, segregated, stand alone section of seating for the away fans.

During the West Ham cup game this season, didn't Adam Baker say they had to deal with over 100 reporters and media people. Unfortunately these people need to catered for in this day and age.

Does anybody know what number of media rugby games get in the Premier (assuming Bristol make it there)?

Not enough to fill 4000+ seats. City dont have those numbers who will get together to create an atmosphere regularly and many will never go in the atyeo. As others mention two loud sets of fans in smaller areas in the Dolman and Atyeo instead of lost or not going in at all in all of the atyeo looks more realistic.

Maybe, we will see. I bet palace said the same before the homesdale took off!

I like the idea of the 2 sections, but with the clubs 0 tolerance approach to standing anywhere else can't see it happening.

An HF at Ashton Gate would never be allowed and would be banned in weeks. City banned ultra and loyal flags and could not deal with the amf politics and neither would quite a few city fans.

I agree, and let's not forget whatever the general view of the Atyeo on here, a lot of fans liked it and chose to sit there for many years. About 2,000 STH's have been evicted and many may want to return to their perhaps traditional area of the ground.

Even if that doesn't happen, if the 1200 in there next season make a colourful and noisy success of it, you can be sure envious eyes will be cast from other areas where ground rules are far more strictly enforced and many more would move over the season after - if extra seats are available.

From what I've read on here those moving over to the Atyeo, though small in number, are determined to make just such a success of it, and I can see these trailblazers being the catalyst for a very vibrant, and very popular, all City stand in the future.

Exactly my point. Hopefully the club will be more open to fan initiatives after learning from various gaffes from BS and DL inc the flag issues etc.

We've got to use that palace model as a benchmark for dialogue, not necessarily style.

If it's a success I can see it being hugely popular.

I have read that before but thought people were referring to a new official line. The information supplied at open days wasn't floated and vague. Away fans were going in the Atyeo. Reading posts on here it is conceivable thousands of fans will be unaware of this "thinking out loud".

Wasn't one of the reasons we reopened the east end (aside from the fantastic persistant fans) was the fact that we couldn't make an atmosphere in the atyeo because it was crap and the acoustics were awful,

Why has that now changed?

Demographics. as it was a new stand, lots of people moved to the Atyeo for the, at the time, good facilities etc. same reason for people moving to the SS. These aren't noisy types particularly.

Personally, I think it's good that the chairman of BS is happy to share such deliberations with fans in a face-to-face meeting like that. As this thread shows, it's not an easy decision to make and for Martin Griffiths to 'think out loud' with fans must surely be welcomed, as it gives everyone an opportunity to say their twopennorth before he has the unenviable task of making the final decision on where away fans / home singers should go from 2016/17 (which, I understand, has not yet been made).

We've now seen that was nonsense after even limited away followings managed to make a racket in there.

I'm nosiy but moving to the SS because thats where my mates want to go for some reason, so it won't affect me and tbh I have no strong feelings ether way,

but pressed I'd want the away fans in the worst stand possible with nosiy sections ether side of them and behind the goal because fo me thats where I watch most of the games I go away too

Obviously my theory doesn't apply to all, but I think it is applicable to the majority of those that are in the Atyeo.

A racket maybe because the EE noise couldn't be heard as it wasn't there anymore.

I think the noise coming from the SS will drown out 1-2k away fans in full voice.

It'll be easiest to police the ATYEO with any escorts being taken around the Cumberland Basin and far away from Ashton/Bedminster area, the police could even allocate areas like Hotwells and the Mardyke pub etc as away pubs.

I'm sure tha A&S Police force will have a large say in what ultimately happens, how many times have we had to listen to those famous words "along with police advice the club have decided"..........

Having been to many new stadia, one thing is clear, the grounds are well designed in keeping rival fans apart, AG will not have this "benefit" so I'd take it with a pinch of salt on how much the fans thoughts/wishes will be acted on. I'm pretty confident that the away supporters for this reason alone will be housed in the ATYEO, more hostile games will be policed using the park and the CB as the poice form a virtual manmade tunnel of safe exit/entrance away from the pubs and bars in the immediate areas, all in all it make more sense.

In the park, in the park, in the park....

No reason really though why that couldn't have been built into The new Williams, imo. Understand the necessity of provision, but a whole corner of the group seems excessive.

Reading between the lines, I reckon the Atyeo won't be there long term, but it's gonna do for the foreseeable future and at least the ground will appear "enclosed" in that corner also.

Do take the point about the loss of extra seats, but not that many surely.

Not true, alot of the EE'ers contacted the club last summer complaining they did NOT want to go in the Atyeo and they were reassigned F block. They were offered the Atyeo again this summer and, once again, contacted the club and many have gone elsewhere.

This is the point.

If we can only just shift a small proportion of the Atyeo next season, despite reduced price seats, with choice to stand and close access to the away fans, how an earth do we expect to fill it in full the following season?

And why would it suddenly become the noisy stand when as the only home end a few years back, it was universally dismissed for lacking any atmosphere/acoustics??

The Atyeo sold out easy for next season.

People weren't allowed to stand in there before and it was all reserved seating. It was also filled with families and people not interested in creating an atmosphere.

But there were still plenty of seats available till late in the priority period sequence. Didn't they make general sale?

And that was with no Williams stand option...

I'm not sure, I know it sold out though.

If it works in there I'm sure more people would be up for getting season tickets in there, then there's all the potd fans that like standing that'll need to go somewhere.
