Will be interesting to see who the spinner will be this summer.

Hopefully Jack Leach will be fit for this summers tests. If he’s available then surely he’d be first choice? If not then Bashir.

Obviously two or three spinners are essential overseas + Root but over here only one usually plays - seam and pace are generally more effective in English conditions. One exception to that would have been the late, great Shane Warne of course.

Not sure Bashir has the control for test matches on English pitches yet, best thing for him probably would be getting him to play every game for Somerset and develop if they're serious about him as a serious test player for the next decade. At home Dawson would probably be available who'd offer more in the here and now.

With Leach unavailable Bashir will be Somerset’s primary spinner and will probably pay in every county game gaining valuable experience as he plays. Add to to that although recovering Leach will around Somerset to advise and guide Bashir.

Not sure how many County matches Leach played before he was selected for England tho.

I’d rather Foakes played a bit more aggressively there. Get a quick fire 20-30 more runs and have more time to bowl at India late in the day.

Agreed. Easier said than done attacking those spinners on this wicket with the field spread, but didn’t really see how scoring at one an over, knowing that before too long you’ll get a ball with your name on it, was a great plan.

Well at least we can stop moaning about the football for a little while tomorrow, as attention turns to moaning abouthte Cricket ;)

I'll be up at 6am.
By then it will be all but over , or there will be a slim chance if we can just break this partnership.
