pillred Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 see that our wayne has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving, hope this is not the start of a long downward spiral.
Eddie Hitler Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 International weekend so he's got a break during the season for the first time in a decade; should not have done it and hopefully that's lesson learned.
Jackson Lamb Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 No surprise. Been told by a few people who have seen him out and about at private events that he and his mrs enjoy the drink and drugs scene.

BRISTOL86 Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 We all need a few drinks when faced with the prospect of watching England on TV to be fair.
RedM Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Just saw this, so without looking guess his choice of car he was driving, surprised me.

Fordy62 Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Really looking forward to Rooney hanging up his boots and seeing how long it takes him to become massive a la Ricky Hatton.
Dollymarie Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Does anyone know (and before I go any further, drink driving is utterly wrong and he's an idiot) if he was caught immediately after leaving wherever he was, or if it was a next morning thing. So many people don't realise how long alcohol stays in your system.

bristolcitysweden Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 0,8 in England so you can drive legally having two pints of 5 per cent Real Ale in a short time and drive. 70 kg and male and it will take 6h to be perfectly sober having had mentioned pints.

wendyredredrobin Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 He will get off with only a fine because an expensive lawyer will argue that his fans will suffer if he loses his licence and he does stuff for charity. 12 month ban for everyone else tho.
City Cat Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Hopefully he's not Gazza 2. I reckon that these guys think they're bullet proof and vanity replaces sanity. Luckily no one hurt physically but the press blood hounds have already started, calling for witnesses to come forward with their story.....b@stards

Idiotic thing to do drink drive but makes no difference from him doing it or any ordinary person. No time for people who are selfish enough to do it. The fact it's Wayne Rooney will no doubt exasperate the situation and drag it on for a pointless amount of time.
Northern Red Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Judging by the reports of his night out, I reckon someone in the bar he was in has shopped him.

Not sure only a fine. A ban is mandatory, there would be a massive outcry if he avoided this and the risk of legal precedent would be too great imo

Trying to go unnoticed so as not to be stopped? That's what I would have guessed too, or some hugely expensive sports car. But no the answer is ...a black VW Beetle! Yes he might have been trying to go unnoticed, but didn't succeed did he. The report I read also said he was stopped after posing for a selfie at a bar so wouldn't be surprised if the police we waiting for him in that case.
Eddie Hitler Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Three times over the limit - six pints. My limited sympathey for him has just evaporated; I had assumed he was just marginally over. Malago Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 With their hundreds of thousands of pounds per week why don't these clowns employ a chauffeur. I'd employ s chauffeuse and get her a little black number to wear as a uniform. No imagination these thick footballers.

yardy Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Caught in a mystery brunettes VW Beetle.....i guess Coleen will be asking Wayne a few questions. What a t***
Northern Red Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Based on him being 3 times the limit he's looking at between 23 and 28 months ban, and a big fine. After all, it'll be based on his income. Yaya Toure got a £54k fine and Firminio £20k although I'm not sure how over the limit they were. Though any fine is water off a duck's back, it's the embarrassment factor, especially the "mystery brunette" bit.
bristolcitysweden Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Not from Prestbury. Don't know his backyard. Caught by the police..

Eddie Hitler Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 Full story coming out now from.the woman he was with. The jaw dropping bit is that they were actually in a taxi after leaving the club, but only used it to go to her car so he could drive it because she was drunk. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/4374756/wayne-rooney-drink-drive-arrest-coleen/

It makes me think of that Benny Hill sketch where he's tearfully waving his wife away then he closes the door and this big crowd of party people draw up in a charabanc and he leaps aboard and grabs a bottle of champagne. Or that could be a dream I had.

But as with most crimes the UK judiciary have become weak with their sentencing policy, so I suspect a highly paid lawyered up Rooney will not get anything like that. However his timing could not have been worse, given what happened on the M1 last week. It was always my understanding that the bans, fines and possible prison for moron's who drive whilst over 3 times over the limit were meant to be a deterrent to stop people wiping out let's say 8 innocent people ala last week on the M1.
