No surprise. Been told by a few people who have seen him out and about at private events that he and his mrs enjoy the drink and drugs scene.

But can't afford a taxi

Implying that he takes drugs ? Probably shouldn't

Does anyone know (and before I go any further, drink driving is utterly wrong and he's an idiot) if he was caught immediately after leaving wherever he was, or if it was a next morning thing. So many people don't realise how long alcohol stays in your system.

Says he was stopped at 2am on BBC so i would guess after his session.

Really looking forward to Rooney hanging up his boots and seeing how long it takes him to become massive a la Ricky Hatton.

I fear he will turn into Gazza mark 2 which will be extremely sad

Reliant Robin?

Ford Mondeo? - Heard that's popular with football chairperson's nowadays...

A shame as the first few games would suggest he could net a few for Everton this season.

Hopefully he's not Gazza 2. I reckon that these guys think they're bullet proof and vanity replaces sanity. Luckily no one hurt physically but the press blood hounds have already started, calling for witnesses to come forward with their story.....b@stards:gasmask:

see that our wayne has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving, hope this is not the start of a long downward spiral.

Idiotic thing to do drink drive but makes no difference from him doing it or any ordinary person. No time for people who are selfish enough to do it. The fact it's Wayne Rooney will no doubt exasperate the situation and drag it on for a pointless amount of time.

He will get off with only a fine because an expensive lawyer will argue that his fans will suffer if he loses his licence and he does stuff for charity. 12 month ban for everyone else tho.

Not sure only a fine. A ban is mandatory, there would be a massive outcry if he avoided this and the risk of legal precedent would be too great imo:yawn:

Not sure Colleen will let that happen.

Bentley convertible is my guess; I will now look.

Ah - nowhere near.  Trying to go unnoticed so as not to be stopped?

I'd be ever so careful with those types of allegations

That's what I would have guessed too, or some hugely expensive sports car. But no the answer is ...a black VW Beetle! Yes he might have been trying to go unnoticed, but didn't succeed did he. The report I read also said he was stopped after posing for a selfie at a bar so wouldn't be surprised if the police we waiting for him in that case.

Money coming out of his shrek ears, and he can't get a taxi? Moron.

With their hundreds of thousands of pounds per week why don't these clowns employ a chauffeur.  I'd employ s chauffeuse and get her a little black number to wear as a uniform.

No imagination these thick footballers.

I really don't think his problems are as deeply rooted as Gazza

I ageee he doesn't appear to have the demons like gazza has, but he certainly enjoys a drink and there are numerous stories of him not knowing when enough is enough.

He has been under the spotlight his whole life, and that is likely to take its toll on you eventually. I hoe I'm wrong,

Without knowing what Rooney is upto on a daily basis is it possible he had a few drinks in the afternoon and come 2 am fancied something to eat so went out think he was no longer under the influence?

Who sober, wanders out at 2 am for a bite to eat?

Based on him being 3 times the limit he's looking at between 23 and 28 months ban, and a big fine. After all, it'll be based on his income. Yaya Toure got a £54k fine and Firminio £20k although I'm not sure how over the limit they were.

Though any fine is water off a duck's back, it's the embarrassment factor, especially the "mystery brunette" bit.

Caught in a mystery brunettes VW Beetle.....i guess Coleen will be asking Wayne a few questions.

What a t***

Probably a glamorous granny. Wayne likes the older woman.

The pregnant Mrs Rooney is flying home, so if he thought the worst was going to be a driving ban....................! :clapping:

Wayne's in a spot of bother here, it would seem.

Yeah, or she's like a gran at 28? Hmm, always worth musing over I suppose :dunno:

She was 29 according to the Sun story; shows how drunk Wayne was as he usually goes at least double that.

Was she fit, Eddie?

Edit: just seen Tone's photo.

Yes, I think is the answer.

Second edit:  looks a bit miserable though

Which is usually when he gets into bother.

Anyone would think that she can't stand to be around him for too long....

It makes me think of that Benny Hill sketch where he's tearfully waving his wife away then he closes the door and this big crowd of party people draw up in a charabanc and he leaps aboard and grabs a bottle of champagne.

Or that could be a dream I had.

The guidelines for being 3 times over the limit (if true in his case) are a ban of between 23 to 28 months, a large fine and the possibility of prison.

But as with most crimes the UK judiciary have become weak with their sentencing policy, so I suspect a highly paid lawyered up Rooney will not get anything like that. However his timing could not have been worse, given what happened on the M1 last week.

It was always my understanding that the bans, fines and possible prison for moron's who drive whilst over 3 times over the limit were meant to be a deterrent to stop people wiping out let's say 8 innocent people ala last week on the M1.

He did get a taxi.

But only as far as her car; which he then drove.

Three times over the limit - six pints.

My limited sympathey for him has just evaporated; I had assumed he was just marginally over.

"visibly drunk"

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/4369140/wayne-rooney-arrested-charged-drink-driving-alderley-edge-singing-oasis/

believe me eddie 3 times over the limit is a LOT more than 6 pints, it doesn't follow that 2 pints is the limit so he must have had 6.

That makes perfect sense then. Who ever said Footballers were a bit thick ?

Ah. Go on, I'm about to genuinely learn something here.  How does the testing work then?  Roughly, I don't need equations.
