Anyone know anything on the book that was meant to be released alongside the Atyeo statue going up?

All of us who put the £100 in included adding a few words to the book if I remember rightly.

Nope. Nowt heard here.

What sort of anecdote did they want? Atyeo related only or general City related?

Starting to think it's not going to happen and there won't be any acknowledgment of that.

I'm sure they wouldn't have said 'there will be a book' unless there was going to be one.

Guess the task of producing it is taking longer than imagined.

Sure they will give a status update soon.

I’ve asked the others on the SC&T board for an update as I’m not sure what stage this is at :)

I'm sure money won't be the blocker if the trust have shelled out 20k on decorating their bar!

There’s no need for that Rob. Money isn’t an issue. It’s as simple as I’m not the one dealing with the book so wanted to get the correct info. :)

Haven't you heard? @Dollymarie has got a new bit of fluff now. Flint and @BigTone got thrown out with yesterday's chip paper.

Stuff Tone but poor Aden is being supported by myself and @RedM during this difficult time. It's a hard job for us both but we are persevering.

Aden’s doing alright with Packys sister in law going by social media.

On a slight tangent. Does anyone know whether another tranche if names will be added to the statue? I have just lost my mum and as she is the reason I started watching City I would love to add her name.

Are you from Swindon? :P

Can confirm I have 4 fingers and a thumb on each hand, as well as 5 toes per foot. None are webbed.

Marlon's not a blood relative. It's all good.

Not for the want of trying!

We are struggling for content. This from the meeting in April (the one you attended Rob):

Appeals for stories have been made online via us and the Club’s media channels. It has not yielded many responses. MA has designed and printed a leaflet for distribution before the last 4 home games, help is need to distribute those. MK has agreed to place some leaflets in bars and restaurants around the ground. [action – MA and MK to arrange distribution]

So we have done leaflets, emails, website appeals and only have a handful of contributions. It would be a pretty sad book if we published it at the moment unfortunately.

“Atyeo & other 'City Greats' at the Old Ashton Gate”

A book with the above working title is also being produced and we are now collecting supporters’ memories and stories of the old Ashton Gate, memorable matches and outstanding players to be featured in it.

You may have a special memory, for example, of a particular incident or of one connected with your family. As long as it reflects the working title we would be interested to hear from you about it. Rather than you writing your account down, we can arrange for you be interviewed by the editor if you prefer.

Otherwise, simply send in your story to Mike Adams at blagdonmike@gmail.com or

Bristol City Book, BCSCT, PO Box 3296, Bristol, BS3 9HD. Any accompanying photos would be especially welcome and will be scanned and returned. Mike is available on matchdays running the Programme Club next to the programme seller at the Winterstoke Road entrance.

Hi thatcham red, is there a planned date for the release whether there is enough content or not?

I understand it was planned to be this Christmas?

Thanks.

Could do a colouring book. Throw in a red crayon and Bob's your uncle!

A couple of Fatty Wedlocks descendants sit on our table. NTTDS was in conversation with one of them.

I hope NTTDS was asking them to use the chairs.

Our monthly meeting is tomorrow, I’ll get it added to the agenda for an update.

Hi Dolly , was there any confirmation that the book is still happening at the meeting?

Posted

Sorry, meant to post before now.

Yes the book is still happening. The plan is that it will be a combination of fans stories and stories from ex players, as well as people who knew John. :)

Wasn't that the original plan?

….a reporter from The Sunday Sport will be in touch in due course.

Too boring for the Sport apparently. Not enough detail with regards to the removal of the plunger from the orifice.

So I'm flogging my story to Nuts and Zoo magazines.

Do you know when collection of these will be from? I thought the original idea was just short messages at the back of an Atyeo book from each person who contributed to having their name on the statue.

I have no stories about the guy, I was born in the late 80s and my Dad who is the other name on the plaque is "no longer with us"... Kind of limits what can be written by us who never got to see him play.

Still not heard a word from anybody at all. Kind of disrespectful how this is ignored.

Those organising it have said that once they have the content, they will produce it.

Now, go and have a Quality Street.

And when purchasing we were told we would be asked for a quote to make that content.

So they're producing it when they have the content but aren't contacting anyone to ask them for content to put in it...
