Not sure he's played a match for about 2 1/2 years?

According to Transfermarkt (ignoring cup appearances):

21/22 (so far): Without Club

20/21: 28 appearances for FC Basel in the Swiss Super League (full season = 36 games)

19/20: 7 appearances for Norwich in the Prem

18/19: 31 appearances for Norwich in the Championship

Looking at the minutes he's played, most of his appearances in 20/21 and 19/20 look like full 90's. 18/19 season slightly less so (approximately 23 "full 90's" worth of minutes)

Ah you're right, that's good news. For some reason whoscored and Wiki were both showing him not having played since 7 matches in 19/20!

He has been training with us.

Very popular player at Norwich.

Prior to training with us, I doubt he was sitting on his ass waiting for a club to call. He will have been doing fitness work with a PT or a specialised football fitness coach.
Just how quick he can get up to match fitness is the question.

Unrealistic wage expectations?

I would imagine that it's more a case of he felt he could still play at a top level and the right deal didn't present itself.

This has been the case with many 'free agents' recently. Other examples would include players such as Hal Robson-Kanu who is still available, which again I would guess is because they don't wish to take their final contract in a poor division. If Klose signs here, he has a good opportunity to play each week, in one of the most competitive divisions in world football.

As @Kid in the Riot mentioned, Klose was hugely popular during his time at Norwich, and was apparently brilliant in the dressing room and with the fans.

I have a Norwich supporting mate based in Bristol, who follows them up and down the country, home and away every week. He was very complimentary about Klose.

Interesting.

Also a very decent player. Sounds like this has got legs then, maybe a contract until the end of the season with an option for an extension? Bit like when we signed Ashley Williams.

That’s exactly how I see it, plus the Baker factor of course.

If we discount Baker, then of the central defenders we have available only Kalas can be considered as experienced. If he is missing then Vyner (24 & with around 100 games at this level) becomes our senior defender & I don’t think we can take that risk.

33 isn’t that old for a central defender, Ashley Williams took some flak on here but he was 35 when he played for us & did a steady job.

That’s what I was told too this morning.

As per usual, I only hear things 2nd, 3rd, 4th hand, so not ITK, just passing on what I heard.

Perhaps my quip about Robins Uncut being short this week wasn’t that far off the mark.
